The tide was out, and we were one of three cars when we pulled in. I decided to see what was going on down by the water side. A guy was fishing, there were a lot of little crabs and I found a large painted rock down on the water's edge. I took some phots and then came up and decided to walk, because the park is not just that parking area, its all that edge water area. There are benches, there are palm trees. It's really just a nice area along Dunedin's water front that make this such a plesant area to be in.

It is pretty & has great walking/biking trails but it has way too many overgrown areas that seem unsafe to me. Way too many places you can "disappear" in this inner city park. Plus, the water is not flowing, there is no water fountain, not that I saw & there are way too many bugs bc of the stagnant water. One day I was there, it was raining & it was flooding all over. So the park doesn't have good drainage. Maybe that's why all the bugs & mosquitoes. Either way, it's not the best one I have found by far. There are far more better options/safer options in the area. I've only had my dog, Penney, for nine months. The first few months consisted of dealing with…read moreshots, being in heat, and then, finally, getting her spayed. She loves going on walks but has that little dog mentality where she barks at all the other dogs. We went to dog training, basic and intermediate. I was nervous about taking her to the dog park, due to all of the above issues. When we first arrived, so many of the little dogs come running up to the gate, making it a bit intimidating to come in. Both my Penney and I struggled with this for the first few weeks but soon she began to love going there. It was almost six weeks before I saw her initiate play with another dog. It's been enjoyable seeing her having fun. My only complaint would be that it seems there should be a cement platform under the picnic tables. The dogs have dug a tunnel under one. Not sure where they plan on going! The shade and the breeze are really nice up there. Even when it's too hot at home, it's almost always better at the dog park!

There are big flat screen TVs everywhere and they even have the NFL package. Good selection of beers, wine, seltzers and cocktails. This place is one of the most…read morebeautiful spots on the Gulf with clean beaches, clear water, and a peaceful natural setting that feels like a true escape. The beach stretches out nicely so even when it is busy you can still find your own space. The sand is soft, the water is calm, and it is perfect for swimming, walking the shoreline, or just relaxing and soaking up the sun. We also enjoyed seeing the shells along the shore which made it even more fun. The park itself is very well maintained with clean facilities, plenty of parking, and easy access to the beach areas. There are also nature trails that give you a chance to see local wildlife and enjoy a quieter side of the park. Everything about the visit felt relaxing and well organized. It is the kind of place you can spend the whole day and never get bored. Easy 5 stars and one of the best beach spots in the area.

Visited here with an old friend and her family who used to live in the area. They discovered we had…read morenever visited it and suggested we visit there for a luncheon/cookout and birthday. Several of her family members and her five (5!) children. It is a beautiful place, well laid out, plenty of parking, gorgeous views and dedicated to all veterans, so a special meaning for me as a veteran. With beautiful, covered areas for grilling and eating, lots of paths for walking, jogging, and dog walking. A huge playground for children, which made for hours of fun for the kids. Plenty of parking all around the lake. A nice dock for feeding the ducks and fish, not sure if they allow fishing or not. A nice workout area with lots of different exercise equipment. Plenty of war memorials for veterans and families of veterans. Several areas of names of local veterans that served. And really nice and clean restrooms for after a couple bottles of water. Most impressive though was the placement of a combat jet lifted high in the air. A beautiful and thoroughly enjoyable park nestled right off a main road. Just watch the GPS carefully, it's a small road leading in. We missed it but the jet caught our attention and we turned about.
