Walked in for a much needed nail trim for my 15 year old terrier, Spud. A lovely woman clipped and filed his nails in less than 5 minutes. I posted a review here before, and I no longer see it. I brought my dogs here for two years. I was always a bit concerned because my dogs didn't seem to like to go all that much (and they are very friendly). Moreover, the groomer was always trying to get me to put them on CBD, and I didn't feel comfortable with that. In those two years, I tipped well, I always showed up, and I picked my dogs up promptly. I missed ONE appointment (due to being ill) where I completely forgot, and--without any warning--we were told we could not come back. Added to this that the place has no online booking, no text reminders (she will try to call if you ask, but doesn't always remember), and no way to check your appointments other than keeping a card in your wallet, it makes it a pain to do business with them. I also always got the impression that the main groomer (Kayla, I believe) really doesn't like what she does all that much, or really like animals. So, I should have been already looking for a new groomer anyway. I would strongly urge others to find someone else. read more

We were really happy with our grooming appointment at Dirty Dog Day Spa. Our two dogs can be challenging but the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job. If you need a groomed for your pampered pooch, this is the place to go. We had two medium-large dogs go in for a bath. They came out with much more like their paw pads being moisturized and nails were filed, not just clipped. Another tell tale sign is the dogs were happy and almost showing off the rest of the day. A few days later and they still smell good and feel silky soft. UPDATE: We decided to get out English Shepherd clipped for the heat of summer this past appointment. She looks amazing! I have been taking my two small dogs to Dirty Dog for about 2 years. I go regularly. I have never missed an appointment (until recently). I tip well. I always pick up my dogs on time. I am flexible to the groomer calling and asking for more time, even though she has me bring my dogs in relatively early (about 11 most times), and keeps them until after 5. (That's a long time for little dogs to be caged up!) I am generally considered a nice, easy-going client. I have never felt that the groomer liked my dogs. In fact, she never really gave me the impression that she particularly likes dogs in general. She put on a "show," but it felt fake. She also thought one of my dogs was too anxious and tried to have me buy him CBD. But, my dogs didn't particularly like going to her, and I chalk at least *some* of the anxiety up to that. I was starting to see a few "red flags." Still, the business is close to me and convenient (open on Saturdays), so I put off looking for somewhere else. Her grooming was acceptable. It was not particularly cute, nor necessarily what I had originally wanted, but my dogs were clean, didn't smell heavily of perfume, and were cut so that they weren't shaggy or matted. So, again, I put off looking somewhere else. From the beginning, I was concerned because the store does not have a real website, cannot book appointments online, does not do text reminders (although, she will call the day before if you ask), and is very old-fashioned in how they book appointments. So, if you don't get in the book after each appointment (a literal handwritten calendar book) you may have to wait some time to get a return call (thankfully, there is an answering machine). The groomer always seems especially harried and busy. When I inherited another small dog (my mother passed away), the groomer said she simply didn't have room in her schedule to take the dog, but would put the dog on a waiting list (it is has been over a year and she claimed there was no room--still--even after hiring a new helper). She accidentally nicked one of my dogs, but I was understanding. It happens, right? But, put it all together, and--like I mentioned--there were enough red flags that I was considering looking elsewhere. Then, I had a health issue. I threw out my back and I missed an appointment, because I was having some real pain, and my dogs' appointment slipped my mind in dealing with the problem. I felt badly about missing. I would have understood had she put me on warning, asked for a fee due to the missed appointment, or some such. But, instead, she simply called me up and "fired" me as a client. She did not ask if I had a reason for missing. She did not call on the day of to see if we were coming (I might have had someone else bring them). I missed one appointment in two years, and I was told that cannot take my dogs back. It is probably for the best. As I said, I was starting to worry that I should be looking somewhere else for grooming. I know it is hard to find groomers. This one is obviously overbooked. But, unfortunately, I cannot recommend her. read more

I drove by to see if they could take her as a walk in and lucky for us, they were able to accommodate our needs. I read many reviews from lots of grooming places before bringing our dog, a two year old Cavalier King Charles. He has been on numerous grooming appointments since he was a puppy with no issues. Everyone thinks he's adorable. I also shampoo and blow dry him too, I have him professionally groomed when I want him trimmed and usually get the whole package, shampoo, trim, nails and teeth brushing. I got a call from Kayla saying it would be a little longer because our dog was screaming when being brushed and blow dried. I was pretty surprised since he doesn't make any sounds when I've done it or any other groomer has done this. I also brush him almost daily. When picking him up I was shocked when they told me that he was not welcome to come back because of all the noise he makes! This is a dog that doesn't even bark. Kayla seemed nervous as she told me. Our dog seemed like he'd been through a lot, head down, not his happy self. It was so unbelievable since he's gone to other places without incident. I usually take him to a different place, but they were so booked up it was difficult to get him in. At first I felt so bad for our dog, like he possibly was treated roughly and maybe the blow dryer got too close. Then I got upset, but still waited to write this review. I think everyone has a bad day, no one is perfect. When a groomer has a bad day, so will the dogs they groom. And it makes me think any dog, ours included will make noise if they're being treated roughly. If our dog had a history of difficulty at the groomers I would understand, if he was aggressive or fearful but he's the opposite - friendly and trusting - a typical Cavalier. P.S. Trimming wise, we asked for the sani-cut, paw trim and a little off his jowl area. He also had the hair on top of his head trimmed when we didn't ask for that, it's finally growing out. read more
