I've never had Uyghur cuisine before, and it was so good! Reminds me of Chinese food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute space, didn't need a reservation, and was able to get a table no problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They serve coffee during the day where I assume they have their pastries. Highlight was the korma chop - you definitely should specify your spice level. Medium was perfect and not too overpowering. The sauce that this comes with is so yummy. Wasn't a fan of the fried eggplant - it was on the sweeter side and the peppers weren't sautéed long enough. Service was friendly, but it did take a bit to get our check (you can just walk up to the counter to close out). Would definitely come back!

Recently tried this place after hearing several positive recommendations. We sat on the first floor at a table for two. The restaurant has a more causal interior and is very clean. The menu had so many options we asked the waiter for recommendations. We got the naan which came with honey to dip in. The naan was ok and decent to dip in the sauce of the noodles but I would recommend getting a different side dish. We split two noodles dishes, the Korma Chop and the Royal Laghman. We picked beef for both. Both tasted like a grandmother's handmade dinner. These dishes felt like a warm hug. Really great flavor and each element was cooked perfectly. For dessert wine of the servers recommended we look at the different options in the dessert case at the front. We decided to get the walnut flavor of the Dolan Cake. It's a layered cake with whipped cream and chocolate. It has an interesting texture and it's not too sweet. I will definitely come back to try more dishes.

I took my aunt here for lunch and I had the signature rice noodles with chicken and she had the fried rice with shrimp. My dish was delicious and I really enjoyed it. It's close to my home and I will be back again in the future!

My daughter has recently moved to the D.C. area and is determined to try as many different types of cuisines from the many cultures that call this area home. I was more than pleased to try Uyghur cuisine recently. Parking was found around the corner on the street. There is an upstairs and downstairs with cozy areas to sit and dine. Large glass windows in front offer a nice view of the activities of this eclectic neighborhood. Our first foray into Uyghur cuisine was a delight and introduced a delightfull mix of different flavors of well prepared foods. We started with a large French press style carafe filled with one of the most delicious teas I have had in a while. They have their own blend of Dolan Gul Chai which is a floral tea. It was so enjoyed by both of us that we both purchased the 100g canister of this tea to bring home. For appetizers we tried both the Samsa which had minced beef, lamb and onion and the Kawa .Samsa that was filled with butternut squash onions and peppers. They were delicious but sadly served as just piece. We also tried the Arlash Korma, Goshnan and saved room for a dessert of Uyghur. I would definitely like to come back and try more of their traditional styles of food. My only disappointment was that the service was quite slow. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and a pre-holiday weekend. When we did see our server she was helpful and multitasked the dining areas.

Korma Chop tofu: be sure to be very clear about spice level and make sure it's make to your taste

Things didn't go perfect on my first visit but the staff was very apologetic and also provided a free dessert to make up for the trouble. I ordered a noodle dish MILD and it came out quite hot. I should have sent it back but by the time they came to check on us I had already eaten quite a bit and decided it wasn't worth the trouble. My friend's kid had gotten the same dish and they did remake hers and we all tasted and agreed the mild version was delicious. The pumpkin pastry was absolutely delicious and I hope I can try the noodle dish again actually mild. I liked how the tofu was prepared for the dish and the noodles have the best texture. The free dessert was a chocolate cake. It was not very sweet and had a sort of cream cheese icing. It wasn't an American style chocolate cake for sure but it was really good!!!!!

Vegetarian laghman noodles highest spice level-- so good

I only had Uyghur food in a couple places and was very excited to try. I believe Uyghur is pronounced we-ger. I tried the Laghman: pronounced like ramen but with an L I believe. The hand stretched noodles are made here fresh and are super thick, long, chewy, meaty and delicious. I absolutely loved them. The noodles do not contain eggs. I got my laghman with tofu and vegetables and it had some wood ear mushrooms. I ordered it at the highest spice level and it was delicious. There was some broth/ sauce and it almost reminded me of a combo of a Chinese sauce and a NM strong red Chilli. It was quite interesting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor here was nice too and I really liked their chilli crisp.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to repeat this spot to try more and tried the Korma chop noodles (I had to get something with those same amazing hand pulled noodles again!). I really loved it. I ordered it at the highest spice level as well. These noodles are best eaten fresh and not as leftovers. I hope to try more in the future in one of their locations (sounds like the ones in CA with same name have different ownership)! My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Great place to try some cool Uyghur food!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a cozy cafe inside and outdoor seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came on a Friday around 12 pm and were seated immediately with no wait. Korma Chop (5/5): I got the classic korma chop based on the reviews (most people seem to order this). It is a super rich noodle stirfry tossed with some veggies and your choice of meat (I chose beef). The noodles were thick and hand-pulled, perfect texture. I also loved the flavors, Spicy but not too overpowering. Not too salty nor oily, perfect amount of sauce and seasoning. Sesame seeds on top. It was also a good portion size. I would get it again! Chuchurra (4/5): I was not that big of a fan of this soup because personally, I'm not a huge fan of lamb or gamey meats. But I can see how others would enjoy this. Flavorful and hearty lamb broth with mini lamb/beef wontons and little bits of cilantro. A bit on the saltier side. I heard they're opening a location in Rockville which will be closer to me! Excited to go try more Uyghur food :)

    Royal Laghman

Everything about my experience here was excellent. I stopped for lunch and got the Royal Laghman. With lamb. The portioning was reasonable and the flavor was very unique. The service was also exceptional. The staff answered my questions and gave good recommendations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are ever in the DC area, I'd highly recommend checking this place out. Parking is somewhat difficult as it is in a traditional urban neighborhood so I'd recommend taking the metro which the restaurant is located directly off of. All in all I had a wonderful and hope to return soon.

Visiting Washington D.C. and wanted to try some food that we can't get in St. LOUIS. I don't even think a lot of people know what Uyghur food is, so it was pretty cool that I was able to try it for the first time. I ordered the Korma Chop and my friend ordered a soup dish! (Ooops sorry! I forgot the name of it). Both dishes were delicious. However, the Dolan cake was a bit underwhelming. It reminded me of those pastries you get at a Chinese buffet. I didnt find it to be anything special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a but warm in the restaurant and a bit chilly outside, but we decided to sit in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gender neutral bathroom[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly service Definitely worth checking out!

I've been here several times and always leave happy. Such an interesting blend of flavors from Central Asia and China. If you are looking for something different, you must check this place out... oh and the honey cake.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very unique, delicious food with many healthy and vegetarian options, and a nice cultural vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place would be great for vegans, vegetarians, and folks who eat meat. The food has similar flavors to Thai and Chinese, and is less oily than typical restaurant food. I'll definitely come back with family!

Fried Green Beans * Dolan Laghman lamb Kazan
    Julia G.

What a wonderful spot. Already planning to bring my mom here when she's in town next month! I've never had Uyghur cuisine. Everything I tried was wonderful -- from the fried green beans and the lamb Kazan to the Dolan Laghman and milk tea. The portions are healthy (I took 80% home!). Space is fairly casual with basic tables and place settings. Service was good - though you can tell they got busy towards the end. Excited to return!

Casual spot right by the Cleveland Park Metro

Ask the Community - Dolan Uyghur Restaurant

    Do they serve alcohol?

    No.

    Is the food halal?

Yes it is! And it's really good too :)

Is it stroller accessible? Does it have a diaper changing station in the bathroom?

Fried eggplant ,fried green bean and spicy sour tofu on the menu ,also mashroom pok Choi ...

Do they have any vegan options? I didn't see any labeling for this on the menu but was curious.

They had a whole page of vegetarian options, the majority of which appeared to also be vegan (but I did not confirm). In particular, their fried green beans and potato silk were delicious!

I was craving kebab and this unfortunately did not hit the spot for me. We got lamb and chicken kebab combo (#5) and ghormeh sabzi. The meats were bland and very dry. Usually when I order lamb kebab I expect full of flavor and juicy, but this lamb was TOUGH like I had to really chew and there was no flavor. Ghormeh was bland too and not that many cubes of beef. Pita bread and rice were both good. The staff were friendly but not really helpful...we asked what ghormeh was and he just said it's "beef." I would say gourmet bazaar (Rockville) is much better.

The entree was a bit of a cafeteria style thing, but it fit the bill; the menu says it offers not only tofu but some red kidney beans in a stew of greens with lime flavor, and while I can't think of any similar combination I've had in all my travels, it works. The yogurt they offer on the side is a Persian staple, but what really shined was the fresh bread whose odor wafted through my vehicle as I drove my takeout elsewhere. A delightfully thin and browned creation, it was 100% worth adding despite the fact that they already gave me a massive pile of rice (with a bit of saffron rice on top of the plain white rice). This isn't high-end cuisine, but they delivered distinctive flavors in a timely and convenient fashion, and with a good range of vegetarian choices. Of their other locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, some of them offer these stews with tofu mixed in and some do not, though falafel and a few other options remain available.

The bread had a better texture than at our last few visits at other locations (not as hard), but still just "meh" for flavor. I've had better bread at other kabob places recently. It was served warm, but not hot, which surprised me. The chicken in the entrees was well prepared. The meat tasted good and was juicy.
