The meat was dry and lacked seasoning. I wasn't impressed by the toppings and it had very little sauce and average bread you could get at a store. Their fries were also generic, lacking flavor, and subpar. It did the job since I needed food in my system, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Honestly one of the better wraps I've had in the area. Capital Doner has definitely saved my butt a couple late nights in Dupont. It's definitely a little on the expensive side for me, but all the ingredients have tasted fresh and I appreciate the custom options for the wraps, something I've missed from places like Amsterdam. They got both beef and chicken, and personally I used to prefer the chicken. Unfortunately, I will say I did have a freak accident with one order hurting my tooth biting on what I think is chicken bone, since it was connected to some meat. To date the beef has never hurt me, so maybe I'll switch over to that. That being said, I don't really ever have much exposure to Turkish food so I'm glad this is so close to me. I can only suspect that the good reviews for this restaurant are from relatives, investors and people they have paid. I will start this review with my conclusion - I do not recommend this restaurant. Slow. Dirty. Lack of customer service. At best mediocre food. The dining room is not up to modern standards. The weather was warm but they kept the door open so you know there were LOTS and LOTS of flies and mosquitoes. We opted to eat outside where, at least, the lights were darker and it attracted fewer bugs. The plate and utensils were greasy when I got them. The napkins were like tissues. I ordered the Chicken Doner Plate with Rice only there was NO RICE. When I asked about the rice, I was told they were out. When I asked why they did not tell me that when I ordered, they said they gave me extra chicken. Smart Ass. I don't think so. There was not enough chicken for one person. And the chicken is really lacking any real flavor anyway. I might have given an extra star if the service was at least okay. But the staff - such as they are - were not friendly, not helpful and not even communicative. Bottom line - I do NOT recommend Capital Doner at the corner of 21st and P Streets in Dupont. There is simply no reason to waste your money here. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the many other restaurants all within walking distance! OMG - I just looked at my receipt closely and I saw that they added a service charge because I paid with a credit card. They did not warn me, there was no written notice, nothing. Just a service charge. I am lowering my rating to one star! read more
