My UVM son had a suspension issue while at school with me 500 miles away. He knows little about cars and has a 2008 Sienna with 195k on it. I found Dolans here on Yelp. They could have told him it needed a $3000 flux capacitor. They identified the front struts and fixed them reasonably. They even sent pics of the failed strut . Great little auto shop (and when i say "little", i mean little). Went to get my oil changed. Wanted a local shop and not one of those national chain speed oil change places since they: are overpriced, try to sell you unnecessary repairs/upgrades, and my number one fear, may not actually do what they charged for! Also, it's nice to support a local business. Anyways, everyone there was super nice and the price is right for $30 (conventional oil)! It just feels good to know that your money is going to quality work and a great business. The only thing is that due to being a local car shop, you'll be subject to the demands of their workload, which means you may wait up to a few hours. So take it on a day you need to go to downtown anyways, a 5 minute walk away. Definitely coming back. read more

I called Dolan's not long ago and asked if I could make an appointment for the State Inspection. I was assigned a day to bring the car in, but not a time. I was told that I had to drop the car off with them in the morning. I asked if I could just bring the car in later in the day and just wait. I explained that I didn't have a way to get home without my car. The fellow on the line says that they only have one bay and it's impossible to give an appointment for a specific time. That was fine, as responses go, but he goes on to tell me that I can always go to a dealership if I needed a day and time for an appointment. I can suggest a place for him to go too! read more

We had been through a really tough time after being royally scammed by a dodgy dealer in Queens and being left with an absolute lemon car - dead just two weeks into life with us... stupid transmission! With very few van-replacement options on Craigslist and a massive hole in our travel budget (for some strange reason we didn't budget two cars into our vacation!) we turned to Dolans to look over our trusty new steed. Friendly, honest, fair, affordable and flexible. Just moved here from out of state and traditionally I have always gone to premium shops wherever I move, and they usually charge a premium price for services, and give the customer very limited choices in maintaining their car. I've gone to dealers, where they often they pile on unnecessary fluid flushes and do a shoddy job anyway despite the fact that they have a shiny clean looking front of house and friendly customer service reps. I really wanted to avoid this and when we moved to this area, I used Yelp to help me find an honest, knowledgable local mechanic. They guys at Dolan's are the BEST! I brought both of my cars there (one was at the end of it's life and I didn't know what to do with it) and the other for a check up and a squeaky belt. My experience here was okay, I brought my 2000 Toyota Camry here to be fixed and told them it was making a weird noise. I was pretty sure it was the timing belt, and told them so, but they got back to me saying it was the engine making a funny noise, and that my oil pump needed to be replaced and there was a serious oil leak elsewhere. They recommended I take my car to the dealer who told me the engine is fine, it was actually a loose timing belt, just like I had told the people at Dolan's. They fixed the timing belt, and told me the oil pump shouldn't ever have to be replaced, it was just a broken seal on the pump that was leaking. Other than that I did have Dolan's replace my rotors and look at a few other things, and they were very friendly and had great customer service. Their prices for fixing the things I wanted were also much lower than what I could find around too. So while a its little worrying that they couldn't figure out the problems with my car, Dolan's did have prices and customer service on their side. I'll probably go back for smaller things, and always be sure to get a second opinion for bigger things. read more

Great guys did a fantastic job. We are on vacation and our truck road really badly for the 12 hours it took to get here. We were soo stressed out! This is the most honest car repair shop I have ever encountered. Last year, when my car had a leaky tire and I knew taking it to the dealership would mean them trying to sell me 4 brand new tires I didn't need, they fixed it for $5, yes, FIVE, dollars. MY boyfriend takes his older car there regularly and they have never cheated him and always cost less than expected. Today, they did a no notice repair job on his brake lines and charged probably about a fifth of what anyone else would have. I went here because my check engine light was on. They encouraged me to stop by without an appointment. When I walked up, they helped me right away. The light was on for some minor reason, which the gentleman assured me would not effect my car at all. He wished me a good afternoon, and headed back to the garage. I broke down due to overheating last night and called Dolans who recommended a tow company. Chris and the guys waited for me after hours and was able to get me back on the road within 15 minutes. However, Chris recommended having a sensor changed first thing in the morning to be on the safe side. When I arrived they immediately went to work on my car to get me back on the road quickly. Chris even repaired a small oil leak he noticed while fixing the cooling system. If you break down anywhere near Burliington pay the extra to get towed to Dolans as they will take care of your car quickly and honestly. These guys went above and beyond! Unfortunately I did not have a great experience. I went to Dolan based on the customer feedback here on Yelp however I was disappointed with the outcome. For starters customer service and accommodations - they did a great job. Nice set of guys in general. Honest and are able to provide their recommendations. However, execution was not great. Certain compromises I did overlook and now has left me to seek other shops locally to help address the issue. For instance, their tire balance machine is not calibrated properly. To date I still feel have vibrations in my car. I feel these guys can do better, but with demand sometimes quality suffers. I have always been very pleased with the service I receive here. They get me in promptly, give me lots of detail on the repairs they are doing, and have some of the least expensive prices around. They are always willing to work with me to keep auto repair expenses as low as possible to keep my car on the road. When I was initially searching for a mechanic (my old mechanic retired), I compared repair estimates on a new car I was buying. Several other mechanics (especially the one with the logo of the wrench that has been deformed), gave estimates several thousand dollars higher than Dolan's.
