I've only been to Oil N'Go two times but was very pleased. The first time was for an oil change, and I appreciate that unlike Jiffy Lube they didn't try to upsell me 40 times. Just quick, simple, and done. The second time I came in was for a state inspection. It took exactly 30 minutes (I watched Netflix on my phone thanks to the free wifi) and was done. As much as I love my local shop, it was so much easier to go to Oil N'GO for the inspection as I didn't have to leave my car all day. Will be back! read more

I needed an oil change and inspection so I headed to Jiffy lube , but unfortunately they don't do inspections anymore and referred me to Oil n Go. I arrived and the business was busy , but they were able to get me in for an inspection even though I was supposed to make an appointment. The process was quick and not a very long wait . I enjoyed the mental stimulating game show that was playing on the TV in the waiting area. The car did not pass due to a couple minor details but I was given the suggestions to repair by a very customer friendly staff. Time and money well spent for a Saturday morning. read more

This place is a Nightmare! Oil N' Go has the worst customer service I have ever experience. We took my car in to have the mass air flow sensor replaced then 2 days later all the same warning lights came back on so we dropped it off and they said they would look at it. They never called us so short before 5 we called to see when we could pick it and no one answered. We stopped by short after 5pm everyone was gone and they kept my keys over night so I couldn't get my car back and they never even locked my car before they left for the night. I left a VM saying what happened no one ever called us back so I had to show up the next day to get my car only to find out they didn't need to replace the mass air flow sensor that we spent close to $600 on and it's the hose that needs to be replace. So they didn't even fix the right thing. The manager was going to follow up with us and get us a price and availability for the part we have followed up twice and asked the manager to call us even though they are supposed to be calling us and they claim they still don't have an ETA on the part and I haven't been able to drive my car for two weeks now. I would definitely not recommend this place. read more

I always use Oil n' Go for routine oil changes, tire changes, and state inspections, and the service is always exemplary, but today was truly exceptional. I came down for a routine oil change, but told them I noticed a terrible smell in my air conditioning, as if something had died in there. They took apart the entire air filter system until they found the source, which was indeed a big dead mouse. They spent so much time cleaning and remedying the situation. My new truck just turned 27,000 miles. I have used Oil N go twice since I got this truck. Twice, I had sudden lighting failures, and they just so happen to want to sell me lights. The first time was a NEW LED fog lamp, the second, backup lights. I replaced the LED foglamp (which never blow), and went to the dealer for the 2nd occurrence. I got a diagnostic that indicated a fuse blew. That's way too suspicious Both worked fine before my oil change. New cars don't blow fuses at 27,000 miles . There is no other conclusion than someone used a metal tool or object to short them out. I'll never go there again. read more

Highly recommend Oil N' Go! Went in based on a recommendation and was blown away with how quick and friendly the service was. Pulled up to garage doors, was met by an employee who asked what service I was looking for and 30 minutes later I was done. When I was told I was close to being due for an inspection they were able to take care of that as well and I was out of there in under an hour. Clean, friendly, and great service. Professional, honest, and fast. I'm very lazy when it comes to oil changes so this is my favorite place. They actually don't take advantage of women and are trustworthy. Lucas the manager was very kind and helpful, he told me my tires were bald and cracked and was able to replace them way quicker than I expected when I went just for an oil change. I have been going to Oil N Go on Shelburne Rd for years. Service is always top notch, and the staff is always courteous. They do suggest their services, but are never pushy if I decline. Some of the negative reviews here are extremely contrary to my experience. Having said that, the reasons may be: 1. I don't expect them to work for free 2. I don't expect anyone to be nice to me if I'm rude to them 3. I don't expect my vehicle to be free to own (taking good care of it might cost a couple of bucks!) I especially got a kick out of the review that complained because inspections cost - even if you don't pass. I guess their time is worthless if your car is in disrepair, maybe the issue here is that some folks drive their broken vehicle all year and then are upset because inspection doesn't go well?? I wish I could give this place zero stars. I got my oil changed and they didn't seal correctly. Shortly after, all of my oil spilled out but luckily my engine didn't die. I called them up to get a refund and the manager Lucas asked for me to email him the receipt from the mechanic who fixed their mistake. I have followed up via phone and email several times and I have still not gotten my refund; a month and a half later. I am posting this in hopes that this will remind them to not be horrible people. read more

I had previously been going to Oil N Go for about 15 years (for different vehicles), and had positive experiences there. That changed in a big way. Last week, I brought my car in for a loud noise coming from the rear of my car when accelerating. I brought my car in and they first diagnosed it as a wheel bearing issue on the FRONT DRIVER SIDE, so I made an appointment to have that replaced. During that second appointment, they took it for another test drive, and said it's the FRONT PASSENGER SIDE wheel bearing. Then they said while the wheel bearing needed to be replaced, upon further inspection, it was actually the rear brakes causing the problem. About $1,400 later, they replaced both the rear breaks and the front wheel bearing. Those unfortunately did absolutely nothing to stop the noise I brought my car in for. I just brought my car back to them again, went for another test drive with them, and then they said they think it's the rear passenger side wheel bearing causing the noise, and said they have no way to test this ahead of time on Jeeps, since the wheels won't spin when up on the lift. I just called another auto shop, and described the issue, and they said it's easy to get rear Jeep wheels to spin on the lift, and that any mechanics unable to easily diagnose a wheel bearing issue are clearly not competent mechanics (and from me describing the issue to them, they said it doesn't even sound like a wheel bearing issue at all). Furthermore, the prices Oil N Go charged for a break change are very expensive. I checked my receipt of when I had my front breaks changed a couple years ago at a different shop, and it was $179 total (pads, rotor, & service). Oil N Go charged over $600 for the same service. I guess it's ultimately my fault to think they were fully capable of repair work beyond basic stuff like oil changes, but they destroyed 15+ years of goodwill with me in a few hours, and I won't be going back. They charged $1,400 to fix 2 'problems' that they guessed about, which didn't exist, and refused to even offer me any refund. Just an absolutely terrible experience, where they completely ripped me off. read more

Had a set of 4 brand new tires sent there to be mounted. Wait time was fine. Drove them for 2 week and my tire has a flat. As I drove the car with the new tire flat there was no saving it and i put my spare on. I brought it to a different mechanic first who told me it must have been damaged while putting it on and showed me how the tire and where the tire was damaged. He recommended I bring it to oilngo and see what they say. I showed them my tire and they told me to give them 30min and they'll fix it "on the house". Well 30min go by and I'm told I "punctured" the part of the tire that's basically covered by the rim. So I got a second opinion and brought them a diagnostic from the other carshop. Finally, with a diagnostic report in writing stating that the tire must have been damaged while mounting I went back to OilNGo. No only was my interaction with assistant manager poor, the one with the manager was terrible. He not only denied any fault, he got loud and started yelling at me. Lucas the manager did that with several customers waiting for their cars. Not only terrible customer service, Lucas should sign up for some anger management. I will certainly never be back & would never recommend them to anyone. While this was at the Shelburne Rd location, coworkers have mentioned they have had a poor experience with OilNGo Essex. read more

I was charged $500. for a rear wheel bearing although the cost at Subaru is $209. When I questioned Lucas, the manager, about the discrepancy, he responded that the company sets the parts prices. I would suggest getting a second opinion before having OilnGo do any work beyond a basic oil change. read more

Desperately needed an oil change and they were able to squeeze me in during the busiest time of year (snow tire season). During the oil change, they discovered that my exhaust had cracked in half after the catalytic converter. They rigged it up with a temporary fix free of charge and gave me recommendations of where to go to have it fixed. I appreciated their honesty and professionalism. Will never take my car there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Son driving his car a month after an oil change from OIL & GO, in the last snow storm. When his side skid plate gets torn off changing lanes on the interstate. When inspecting the damage , we noticed bolts connecting the oil change plate that hold both plates together are missing , and the one in front 1/4" loose and hanging down. Thus pulling the side plate down and breaking this off. I called Oil & GO ( Shelburne Rd) and scheduled an appointment with the manager to discuss it . Bring the car in and notify the crew it's for the manager to inspect. I sit in the lounge , and see the car come in and then pulled out . Manager comes in and says he retightened like 8 of the bolts in the oil change plate because they were loose. I asked about what he thought of the broken off plate. He looked at me and said , " What broken skid plate." So they pull the car back into the bay and we both look . Short end of the deal; after tightening all those loose bolts , and cussing at me in the conversation a few times. He couldn't see how they could be responsible for the damage, and his crew would never do work like this! Finally, he said he would talk to the manager and get back to me . I'M STILL WAITING FOR THAT GET BACK TO ME PHONE CALL!!!! So, if you car about your investment of your vehicle, you might think twice , three times about taking it to OIL & GO!!!! read more

After multiple visits to Oil n Go I can confidently say they are over-priced and don't really offer you much more for your money. Plus, they nickle-and-dime you for everything including inspection fees ($40 pass OR fail...you pay either way). My most recent experience involved having my car fail inspection for front brake rotors. Oil n Go quoted me $350 to fix the issue. Instead I called Burlington Muffler & Brake (GREAT place, by the way) who looked at my brakes and recommended replacing the font pads for $140. Burlington Muffler & Brake told me that the rotors had some wear but should pass inspection. Went back to Oil n Go and they failed me again, and were rather snide about it. Done with Oil n Go. read more

I give no stars to OIL and GO on Shelburne Road! I went in for a state inspection and left the car. I came back 8 hours later with a $650.00 bill to pass. I spoke to Lucas (the Manager) and he said I needed new brake calipers and a torsion bar that was loose in the rear. I looked at him square in the eye and he couldn't do the same. I could tell he wasn't being honest. I told him, "I know a scamjob when I hear it". I still had to pay $55.00 pass/fail which is a scam in itself with the state! I took my car to another mechanic the next day and while my car was on the lift I asked if the torsion bars were loose anywhere. He bought me into the garage and showed me they were all fine. I also asked him if I needed new calipers and he said absolutely not! He chuckled and said, "I haven't checked the AVIP yet but sounds as though you have already been elsewhere". When I said "yea up on Shelburne road to Oil & Go" His reply was "To see Lucas?" When I said YES! He laughed as he walked away to make out the AVIP for a passed inspection. I believe that the new rules that the state is now mandating every driver to have things fixed on the spot is turning the whole inspection process into a shady and fertile ground for shysters like Lucas at Oil & Go. It's no wonder why the state of Vermont is now paying people up to $10,000.00 to move here!!! They have their big hands in the pockets of Uber, Airbnb, State inspections......It never ends and is a shame. I feel bad for the folks who can't afford this type of jackboot system read more

Went here once to get an oil change and did not have a good experience. Went again recently hoping for the speedy convienence of getting an oil change and inspection done together. I should have paid attention to my first impression... To begin with, the oil change is overpriced. This is supported by the fact they offer numerous coupons on their website. The check-in person tried repeatedly to get me to take their top-tier (totally unnecessary for my vehicle) oil change. My request for a basic oil change - still almost $40 -was met with numerous rebuttal attempts. Ugh! I shouldn't have to haggle over basic auto maintenance. The only positive side about this place is that they're quick. The waiting room had about 5 people in it and most were out relatively soon. However, I didn't see one person leave without being told what overpriced service (i.e. - transmission flush, tune up, coolant flush, etc.) they HAD to get done right away otherwise said person got the your-car-will-explode-on-the-ride-home type of lecture. Ultimately, the oil change was done but my car did not pass inspection. The mechanic stated *all four* brake hoses (totaling several hundred dollars) would need to be replaced. I brought it in the next day to the DEALER who found it necessary to replace only *two* brake hoses. They also did the inspection free of charge, telling me to be cautious of places like this. Bottom line: skip the "convenience" of Oil N Go. Spend the extra 15 minutes elsewhere and give yourself & your wallet peace of mind. read more

How a basic oil change turns into $61 is beyond me. After speaking w/manager the answer was "synthetic oil" & you can't get a cheap oil change anymore. I will stay with Noyes - they are local, family owned, top your fluids, vacuum, & use high end oil. They also make it right when you truly feel something isn't correct. They also said I needed my all seasons rotated, really??? I just took my winters off in May, had my all seasons put on & have traveled less than 2,000 miles. Big disappointment considering I always normally went here. I won't go back. The only positive is a quick 10 minute oil change but watch your wallet! read more

In my one and only experience with Oil and Go, I found them to be incompetent, rude and over priced. They bring customer service to a new low. The bottom line is that Vermont has plenty of trustworthy mechanics, so please heed my advice and do not even consider doing business with Oil and Go. Here is my story: I went to Oil and Go to get a basic oil change. I found them extremely pushy in their efforts to "up-sell" you to their various premium services. A while after the oil change, my car's red oil light came on. Took it to another mechanic and he finds that the oil filter was not installed adequately and it had leaked 4 quarts of oil. Oil and Go was not willing to refund any part of the original cost of the oil change, nor would they consider paying part of the cost of having the issue fixed by another mechanic. Rob Remillard, manager of Oil and Go, deserves a special mention for his anger and aggressiveness towards customers. He is rude, insulting and completely unable to have a rational conversation. The mere suggestion of splitting a $40 repair bill sent him over the top. His reaction only seemed to confirm that he gets a lot of requests for refunds due to inadequate service, as he showed no interest in learning about the nature of the problem at hand or finding a reasonable resolution. It's not clear why a guy who has such a desperate need for anger management therapy is in any position of responsibility. I have the utmost sympathy for anyone who has to deal with his antics. read more

I have had a great experience with Oil N Go. They are honest and and extremely professional. I have found that even if they don't have a spot in their schedule they will work hard to get you in if it is an emergency. I drive a toyota and they are a much better price than the dealership right down the road. They helped me troubleshoot an 800$ job down to a 300$ job and updated me at every step along the way. I buy used cars from people who pay for them and then need a new car every few years. As such I don't always know exactly the condition of the vehicle outside of its "certified pre-owned status". In addition I've had relationships with several mechanics along the way. Over the last few years I've been working with the Oil N' Go on Shelburne Road quite often to make sure that my Toyota would keep being a safe and reliable vehicle for myself and my family. I drove the car to 197,700 miles with confidence because of the education I was getting from Lucas and his team at Oil N' Go. One thing I learned was this: Cars cost money to maintain. Although unexpected expenses are a pain and sometimes difficult they are necessary to keep a car safe and reliable. My experience with this business has been positive since day one. I think you could spend your life comparing costs with other businesses on everything you own but your relationship with them is what counts. If they take care of you and you take care of them that is value and this has been a valuable one for me time and time again. read more

These guys are the best! We have 4 cars in our family, so something is always going on with one of them . No only do we use these guys for our regular oil changes, we have had all of our tire changeovers, brake service , and many other general repairs as well. A true sign of a Great shop is the people, most of the employees have been there for years so it nice seeing a familiar face when we go in. I've been going to Oil n Go for years and have never had a problem. Reading through these posts, lots of people seem to think Oil n Go isn't local- they're 100% Vermont! They just look like a national chain. Fast service, reliable advice, pricing in line with other oil change places... Plus they vacuum out your car and wash your windows! Brought my vehicle in for a state inspection appointment. Mechanic told me I needed front brakes to pass, and I said I would have my husband replace my brakes. When my husband replaced my brakes this morning, he said my brakes were fine and they didn't need to be replaced, that they were not even halfway worn. We checked the state inspection requirements and then my husband went back to the Oil N' Go location in South Burlington to find out what the heck the mechanic saw wrong with the brakes. Lucas was the guy my husband spoke to, and he said that the brakes were too worn and didn't meet the state requirements. He even said he wouldn't drive a car with brakes not half worn, what? Why would you need to replace brake pads that weren't even halfway worn? My husband countered that the brakes were well within the normal range, and far exceeded the manufacturers thresholds as required by the state inspection requirements. Lucas refused to recognize or even acknowledge that his mechanic tried to take advantage and sell a brake job over doing his job as a licensed state inspector and to properly inspect a vehicle. We plan to file a complaint with the Office of Professional Regulation. read more
