Despite listing their Saturday hours as being open until 1pm and refusing to take reservations for oil changes, they consistently refuse to take vehicles for oil changes after 11:45 on Saturdays (even when there isn't a long line). This has happened to me on multiple occasions. It's deeply frustrating for people who work insane hours to take the time to drive over (with plenty of time to spare), only to be told in a very brusque manner that they aren't accepting any more cars. It should be noted that other locations don't seem to have this problem- it seems to be a quirk of workplace culture specific to this particular location. read more

I had been a satisfied occasional customer of Oil n Go for a long time, but I have recently experienced some upsetting service at the Essex Junction location. Incident number 1 involved a routine oil change Everything seemed to go fine, however, I just had the oil changed again (3k miles later) and my local mechanic informed me that the drain plug had been WAY over torqued to the extent that the head was completely stripped and the threads on the Aluminum oil pan were ruined. I head to replace both parts which cost me $650 for parts and labor. Incident number 2 involved a recent inspection for different vehicle. The technician informed us that the car did not pass due to front brake wear. We subsequently replaced the front brakes and your technician then passed the car. 1 week later we brought the car to our local mechanic for tire changeovers, and he showed me that the REAR brakes were down to less than 2mm. This was completely missed by the Oil n Go technician who passed our car and sent us on our way with unsafe brakes. When I went to the shop and spoke to the manager and showed him the stripped plug, he was defensive, argumentative, and condescending to me, and refused to accept any responsibility for this. I contacted the company via email 2 weeks ago and never received a response. read more

I have been using Oil N' Go at their Essex location for many years and have been satisfied with the results, workmanship and the staff's interaction each time I have an appointment. The team is always courteous and if they find something which needs to be addressed will check prior to doing the work. AVOID THIS LOCATION!!! I had an ignition interlock device installed at the "Oil N Go" in Essex. During installation, the technician broke my 4-way flasher switch and made me pay for the replacement. They also detached the vent knob so I could not switch between, air/defrost/etc, and they never fixed it. So, I had to pay an extra $100 when picking up my car from Oil N Go, and another $120 to get the knob fixed. A snow plow also hit my bumper while it was parked in their lot. They replaced the bumper but the weather proofing around each front wheel was not properly reattached. I had to rip them out completely as they were interfering with my ability to turn the car. I can't afford to fix them, either. read more

We needed an oil change and the intake process was very efficient. Everyone was remarkably friendly (Jeff came out to welcome us) and the waiting area was so clean and fresh smelling. They gave me the options and what was recommended for my vehicle. We had a low-beam light out we asked them to replace. The service was done quickly and we got a phone call from Eric. The light bulb is a high intensity bulb that costs $200 in the shop. They wanted to make sure we were okay with the price and cost of installation. We opted not to install, since we can buy and install for half the price ourselves, which is fine. No hard feelings and no pressure from them. At checkout, Howard, was very friendly and efficient as well. We got smiles from everyone and the cost of service was comparable, or perhaps cheaper than other options (especially the Dealerships). Brought my GMC 2500 work truck in for oil change thinking that know what they're doing. With in a few weeks under a 1000 miles later my truck motor starts rapping and knocking. Brought it to dealer. Was told it was three quarts low. I looked at my receipt from oil n go they had put in 6 quarts, but was informed the this motor takes 8 quarts. Contacted oil n go and told them what happened and now I can not get anyone to respond back to me. Now I have to get a lawyer involved just so I can get this resolved. read more

Took my car in for an inspection last weekend, which should be fairly routine and easy for the folks at Oil'n'Go. They should know many things regarding various vehicles, including makes and models. My car is a 2016 and a straight forward vehicle. I made sure all my paperwork, including a tint permit, was available for the inspection. When I brought it in I knew my tire sensor light was on and I'd have reset it if I had read the manual for doing such. Now the guy who determines if a vehicle passes or not comes and tells me the sensor light may prevent him from passing my car then says he'll check my tires. I reassure him that they are brand new, fairly high end, properly inflated Winter tires. He comes back a short bit later and says "I'm going to take your word for it on the tires and pass the vehicle." He states that me going away with the sensor light on could land me a $5,000 fine, I'm thinking he's full of it. I pay, leave and contact the dealership and they confirm that it's BS and walk me through resetting the sensor light via a button on my dash. Maybe Oil'n'Go shouldn't do inspections if they don't know their elbow from their butthole!! This is the third time they've tried some sort of BS with me. I won't be taking any vehicle there ever again. read more

Definitely one of the pricier options in the area but this is one of my favorite places to get my car serviced and routine maintenance. While they can do a lot here and are quite friendly, they unfortunately can't do welds. I had to take my Civic to Monroe to get a piece welded on my exhaust. I don't like having to make multiple stops when time is so limited as it is. All in all, I do love it, though, and have been a regular customer for about 6 years now. Got an oil change here today. In and out in under an hour. Decent food options nearby to help the wait. And the lobby has a flatscreen and some mags to kill time, in case you forgot your smartphone. They're a little pricey. $68 for a synthetic blend change is slightly steep, but the Saab dealership in S. Burlington quoted me $85 (astronomically high), so it's better than that. But I'd say it's worth the price. They're polite, fast, topped off all the fluids and can do a lot of other services outside of an oil change. And they don't require advance reservations. Charged $109 for a synthetic oil change in my Ford Explorer. Tech drove my suv into bay and never asked what kind of oil I wanted. When I told him I wanted full synthetic he seemed caught off guard. He likely had already filled with conventional oil. They checked off that they vacuumed. They did not. They checked off that they washed windows. Nope. They indicated they filled tires to recommended psi. Nope. Cashier had an attitude, I think he may be the owner. All in all a horrific experience. Steer clear of this place. read more

I don't know if the man in charge recognized our exhaustion and panic. Here was our situation. My daughter was leaving UVM for the summer, and we had packed everything into our 2003 Element. I refilled the windshield wiper reservoir, but when I closed the hood found that it would not close. We drove to the nearest Honda dealer, but the repair shop was already closed--it was 1:00 on a Saturday. They diagnosed the problem as a broken cable from the release under the dash to the hood lock. So the hood was partially opened, being only semi-closed. I was afraid I would be driving very slowly on small roads rather than I 89. They suggested Bond's Auto Supplies, so we went there hoping to find a way to hold the hood down so we could drive home to Hingham, south of Boston. A counter guy at Bond's suggested that I try Oil n" Go. I didn't expect anyone would be able to help other than to tie the hood down with a bungie or tied down. I thought Oil N' Go was only for fast oil changes. I was totally WRONG. The man I met told me that he had just had the same problem with his Honda Accord, so he thought he could fix the cable. We sat in the waiting room figuring we would be last in line and that most likely we would be sitting there for an hour or more. five minutes later the guy who I had talked to walked into the room and told us the car was ready to go, all fixed! The price was very reasonable, the entire experience was so wonderful I knew I needed to provide a review of this GREAT SERVICE. We are from a long way away, but my daughter has two more years at UVM. If we need anything automotive again up that way we will be back! THANKS OIL N' GO! read more
