Back in Norway we decided to try Dolce Amici for dinner. The focaccia bread starter was grilled panini with olive oil and light garlic and while small, was tasty. I had the chicken BLT panini, moist and delicious but light on the bacon. It was very good. One daughter had the Mediterranean salad with house Italian dressing and she said it was excellent. Another had the roast beef panini with a side salad that she thought was great - tender beef and an ample salad with delicious panini bread. 2 of us tried the affogato, espresso with vanilla gelato. This was spectacular! The gelato takes just the right edge off the espresso and was outstanding for dessert. The bill came to $127 for four, including a well deserved tip. read more

Went for lunch with my husband. Fabulous food for a small restaurant in Norway Maine. Started with the burrata, roasted tomatoes, and prosciutto salad fabulous and high quality ingredients. The service was perfect. Pleasant and helpful. I have to eat gluten free and our waiter/server ensured what was available. They offer gluten free pasta and bread. This was hands down one of the worst meals I have ever had out at restaurant. The waiter was great but frazzled. He was the host, server, bartender and walker and had 7 tables seated. It was my birthday so I redeemed a grey goose martini and it was watery and had stuff floating in it like pine needle pieces? The olives were tiny and as shriveled as my exes heart. There was no bread without a charge or other pre meal taste which was disappointing for the price point. My risotto meal was actually inedible. I took one bite and had my husband try it and put down my fork. The risotto had the consistency of a dollar store bag of instant rice and the flavor of a watered down packet of chicken ramen seasoning. The steak was not like any other flank steak I have ever had. It was overcooked and still cold and the texture was off. It had a weird balsamic sauce that did nothing for it. Husband got a chicken parm and ate it all because he was starving but the sauce tasted old and had an aftertaste. I have never done this before in my life but I ordered a pizza while I was sitting waiting for the check. I had waited all day for a special birthday dinner and was left hangry in the end. There were a lot of people there and they seemed to be enjoying their food and the ratings were good. This may be a case of being a small town 8/10 but a 1/10 in Portland. A solid 3.5 stars, but closer to 4 than 3. We read about Dolce Amici via Down East Magazine. They did a lovely feature on this new bistro back in April 2022, so when we found ourselves on a hike around Norway, we decided to try them out for lunch. First of all, I love the concept. They have a full alcohol bar, gelato station, brunch menu, and another regular menu. They also have plenty of outdoor seating in the summer (although only two small tables in the Fall) and -- of course -- indoor seating as well. We really liked the vibe outside so we sat there for our brunch. Service was a bit slow, but they seemed to have been a bit busy when we ordered. No biggie, as our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. We found the brunch menu extensive but were a bit disappointed at the fact that they were out of about half of the items on the menu. They had about 4-5 types of crepes but were very limited on paninis/sandwiches and other egg-based dishes, which we were sorta expecting given the time of the day. We ordered the blueberry + ricotta crepe for $12 and the Margherita panini (which came with a side salad) for $10. They were both REALLY delicious and priced fairly given the portion + how yummy everything was. I also ordered an espresso martini which, unfortunately, wasn't as good as the rest of the food. All in all, I would definitely return and try Dolce Amici again! The gelato looked amazing, so I definitely have to come back for that. read more

My goal is to try all the items. The Acina e Pepe was creamy and mildly spiced (but always room to add more pepper for the more adventutous). I used to live in Norway, and my mom is still up there, so I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. My mom raves about their gelato and cocktails regularly, and to be fair, I didn't have either of those on my first visit. My partner and I went in for Sunday brunch, and I was a bit disappointed in the menu. They only do poached eggs and no other kinds. Then there are some salads, waffles, sides, and then mimosas/bellinis. We each got a peach bellini, which was good, and then I got a beet salad, which was amazing. The veggies were so fresh. The salad was definitely the highlight of the meal. The dressing seemed homemade and was delicious. My partner got the poached egg avocado toast, and the poached eggs were way overcooked. The toast was also extremely hard, seemingly stale. We originally also ordered a side of the creamy berry polenta, but the waiter came back and said that they were out of it, which was a huge bummer. So, we pivoted to order the waffles with berries and whipped cream, but the waiter said that they were also out of blueberries and whipped cream, which was pretty disappointing. When we got the waffles, they were extremely hard--so hard they cut the roof of your mouth. Overall, I really like the vibe of this place. It's a cute atmosphere and a nice addition to Norway's downtown. I hope that my experience was just a one-time thing and that they are able to make improvements as they go. Next time, I'll be sure to try out the cocktails and gelato. read more

In town for a wedding, and was looking for a dinner restaurant for 6 members of our family. Dolce Amici accommodated us on short notice, and welcomed us with open arms. All of the pastas and sauces are made in house with locally sourced ingredients, and are simply delicious. Portion sizes are exceptionally generous, and the prices are so reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and preparation! The wine list is also quite impressive. The assortment of gelati capped off our lovely experience. This restaurant is a gem in Norway, and we can't recommend them highly enough. read more

This family-owned café and bistro is an amazing addition to a growing Main St. The indoor decor is modern and inviting. There is also outdoor seating under a whimsical cover of colorful, hanging umbrellas. Everything that I tasted is freshly made and tasty. The menu is simple and changes seasonally. Many ingredients seemed to be sourced locally. Even the beer is from Maine breweries. On this visit, I had a z'tar panini. I also sampled the dishes ordered by other people in my group: Mediterranean salad, potato leek soup, and pasta. They are happy to made dietary adjustments, as needed, even making a very simple pasta dish for my picky kids. The house made gelato is the star of the show. It is hard to choose one flavor. I got a gelato flight that included strawberry basil, lemon shortbread and key lime pie flavors beautifully presented in mini martini glasses. The lemon shortbread was my favorite. Service was friendly and attentive. Food arrived quickly and we weren't rushed to leave. I'll definitely be returning to try dinner and cocktails or one of their special Sunday brunches! read more

It was four courses with four included wine pairings for $75/pp. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and service for a small italian restaurant in small town Maine. You could tell that every meal was carefully thought out and that all the ingredients paired very well together. I wasn't a big fan of the peanut butter crepe but that's more of a personal preference. They were kind enough to send us home with a few pints of gelato. 10/10 would recommend! Been here a couple times and have been favorably impressed. Have to point out one very disappointing experience my daughter and son in law had recently. During the Norway arts festival they stopped here and ordered a lobster roll and another sandwich. It was very busy and they were told their order would take 20 minutes. 45 min later their order was ready and they received the something that could better be described as a lobster "flavored" roll. For $24 there might have been 2 oz of lobster meat on the roll. I'm guessing they were running out of lobster, and rather than saying they were out, decided to stretch what they had to make as many rolls as possible. My family was extremely disappointed.
