Really good Italian food!! It had a terrific ambiance, full of people enjoying themselves. The staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and efficient.

Service was great. But the food was so-so. We had lionsmane mushroom cakes for appetizers and they served us with one still raw on one side. Pic was just how it was served to us - there's still raw flour on it. I thought at first it was parmesan cheese. It's definitely raw flour. We had mushroom pizza for our main course. It was good! And lastly the watermelon margarita - I can taste the pureed watermelon, but there was more tequila than anything. Hoping our next visit will be a better experience.

I've been coming Vivo's for the past four years and I have yet to be disappointed. The Authentic Italian food is one you'll crave time and time again. Being here in Bridgeton ME has so much to offer it's beautiful nature, lakes, and friendly people! Vivo's is a place for family, friends and meeting new friends! This is the place where everyone knows your name! Lol I know I know cliché but it's true. The owner is the chef will alway comes out to greet everyone! I'm trying a new dish on the Saturday's special for the first time! we'll see lol

Even though we had a reservation, we waited at least 10 minutes before anyone greeted us or offered drinks. We also had to ask for bread after noticing our server was bringing it to other tables but never offered any to us. Our server was attentive, friendly, and engaging with the surrounding tables, but we felt largely ignored throughout our meal. When we asked for drink recommendations, she wasn't helpful, and after we received drinks we didn't enjoy, she never checked in or asked about them--even though we had only taken a couple of sips. The wait for our entrées was about an hour, with very little communication about the delay. The overall service made us feel like an afterthought from the moment we sat down. What makes this especially disappointing is that this wasn't an isolated experience. This is the second time we've received the same level of poor service at this restaurant, despite having reservations both times. We understand that busy nights happen, but being consistently overlooked and treated differently from nearby tables is frustrating and unacceptable. We had hoped our first experience was just a one-time issue, but after a second visit with the same result, we won't be returning.

The only thing that confused my husband and I was the salad that comes with the entree. We each ordered the chicken parmigiana and it comes with house salad. She asked if there was anything on my salad I did not want, I responded with no onion. She then looked at my husband and asked the same question, he responded with he was fine with all items. She asked if he wanted onions on the side. He said no, on his salad was fine She brought one Salad, two bowls. No onions. We did not get individual salads. We have been during lunch in the past and did not order anything that came with a salad so honestly we were a bit confused. Now portion sizes he and I could have ordered one chicken parmigiana and split it. Their sauce is fantastic! Food delicious! The day we went for lunch, I ordered a sausage and onion calzone and their roasted Brussel sprouts. Also both yummy!!!

Chitarrucci neri ai frutti di mare (black ink chitarra pasta with seafood), however, was something I really wanted to have again. I was hoping that it would be as great as I remembered ... it was. We started with Cozze alla sambuca. I would not have thought of putting fennel or sambuca with mussels, but it was a good combination. The other players (shallot and herbs) were well balanced too. The Insalata de Cesare was fresh and well dressed, with a generous portion of shaved parmesan. The Chitarrucci was the star, with pasta cooked just right and plenty of mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and clams. If I have to be picky, the calamari may have been slightly over cooked, but I'd order this dish over and over again. (I didn't taste it, but the gentleman at the next table had a beautiful plate of ossobuco, with the osso standing up in the middle of the risotto with a sprig of herb 'planted' in the marrow. He said it was great) If you're anywhere near Boothbay, make a reservation and try Ports of Italy.

We shared a Caesar salad, which was fine, but it was nothing memorable either. We each got our own entrees, which we hadn't been doing because it's usually too much food, and since we were on a road trip, there wasn't much point to requesting doggy bags like we normally would because we wouldn't be able to eat the leftovers. Unfortunately, neither of us finished our meals... they were both tasty, but we ended up leaving food on our plates. I hate wasting food like that. I think we'll return to our one-entree-and-share-it protocol for the remainder of our trip. That seems to be working for us. My chicken dish, Pollo con Funghi, which came with tomatoes, olives and mushrooms in a white wine butter sauce seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano, was tasty, but it was too large a portion for me to finish. There was also some squash, and we had ordered a side of spinach, too. I was very sad to not have taken the remaining food for leftovers. Would've been great. My husband ordered the Ravioli di Astice, which was lobster and ricotta filled ravioli in a prosecco and aurora sauce. Not sure what aurora sauce is, but when I tasted it, the sauce was delicious. My issue with his dish was that the ravioli was severely undercooked, and it was way too chewy... definitely not al dente. They simply didn't cook it long enough, which was a shame because the flavors were excellent. Big miss for an Italian restaurant. I suppose I'd give this place another try if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Boothbay. We definitely would have to agree on one entree between the two of us, though, so we don't waste food.
