Based on this bakery's reputation for cakes, I entered the store and ordered a special one for my daughter's birthday. After leaving, I received a voice message, canceling the order because their "new girl" did not know the cake decorator needed 48 hours to prepare the order. I would receive a refund, however, I could call the following morning to reserve a store cake. I did so and asked for a discount due to my being inconvenienced. As a customer, I am not responsible for their employee's error.When I arrived to pick it up, a different salesperson indicated the cakes I could choose from. When I selected one, I asked for my discount, and she said, "We don't discount cakes. Anyway, this cake is only $30.00." To say she was rude is an understatement. The girl running the counter was super friendly and knew her products. This place is amazing, full of cookies of all sorts and cakes galore. I ordered vanilla valentines cupcakes, strawberry cheesecake, cup a' cake, and an eclair. All I can say is yes, yes, yes, and YES. If you're in the Clifton Park area stop by and get your bakery on. Please do not waste your time or money supporting this place. None of their product is worth trying. Nothing is fresh, all stale and hard. I bought a cannoli cake for my dad's birthday a few days ago and we were so excited to try it. The girl working wrote on it beautifully, but when we went to eat it, it was just gross. It tasted like it came right out of the freezer. I will say the service at this location is wonderful, the dessert however is not. read more

Arrived on a late Monday afternoon to find that this location doesn't sell donuts on Mondays. Whaaaaaaaat? Apparently all their donuts are produced at their Troy location and then shipped here to the CP store and they don't do it on Mondays because it's their slow day. Anyhow, I was forced to get a chocolate eclair and that was just fine. Priced a little high at nearly dollars, but it was pretty good. Liked the chocolate on top and it tasted fresh enough. Filling was filling. Tip: you can download their cell app in the store and then show them that you did and you get a free cookie of your own choosing. I got a $2.75 double fudge choco chip cookie that was 2 cookies with fudge in between and then dipped in chocolate; I ate that the next day. It's a sugar choco overload so it definitely rocketed my blood sugar! Their homemade cakes look really good and I'll have to try one. I'll make sure to go back on a different day of the week to sample a donut or 9. The teenage girl here was super nice and answered all of my questions with a smile and I had plenty. There's a Cookie Factory in Clifton Park? This place makes some of my favorite donuts in the Capital Region, and I don't want to brag, but I've literally had them all. My favorites at the Troy location of this shop were the chocolate iced, the glazed, and the Boston cream. How would this offshoot compare? The donuts we got on our visit were oddly misshapen. Our donuts weren't an anomaly. None of the donuts on the tray were what one might call round. But that's okay. All donuts are beautiful. What's less beautiful is a glazed donut that doesn't crackle when you bite into it. The ones in Troy do. The one in Clifton Park, not so much. And at both locations, for some reason, the new standard seems to be adding chocolate sprinkles to the chocolate iced donuts. I can't say that I approve. That said, the Boston cream is still brilliant. More importantly, this location actually has seats, so you can enjoy your donut in the shop with a cup of coffee like a civilized person instead of having to wolf it down in your car like some kind of animal. Plus, I saw one of the staffers filling cannoli to order, and that's just a commitment to quality and craft that cannot be overlooked. Not to mention the fact, that the people there are perfectly lovely. Part of me wants to give them the fifth star just for giving people one less excuse to go to that national donut chain that everyone seems to love so much, despite the fact that both their donuts and their coffee is both awful and expensive. That said, I know the Cookie Factory can do just a little bit better, so I'm going to let this great shop earn its fifth star the hard way. read more

This is really a review of both locations (Clifton Park and Troy). I am a regular customer and love the cookies, cakes and other treats. There is no issue with the quality of the food. However, the recent service is lacking. We went into the Clifton Park location on Sunday, 6/27 to order a small, basic birthday cake for the following day, only to be told that they can't accommodate us, even for a small cake. It's a bakery. We were told to "check back." We called the Troy location and were basically told the same thing. The counter worker at the CP location noted that they had recently lost staff yet the same evening, I noticed a big promotion on their FB page for ice cream sandwiches. They're selling these and can't make a cake? So, because The Cookie Factory can't handle a basic order, they lost our sale to another bakery that had no problem filling our order (and that cake was absolutely delicious). So, it's The Cookie Factory's loss. read more

Very disappointing. I am in another state and ordered custom cupcakes for a virtual baby shower for one of our remote co-workers. The cupcakes delivered were plain, white cupcakes with none of the customization that I asked for. When I called to discuss, I was not give an apology or offered a solution. Chocolate cannoli was delicious. The cannoli was fresh and both in and outside dipped in chocolate. Yum!! $2.95 for one. On Mondays, there is no donut delivery from the bakehouse. Good to know. Cupcakes run a bit smaller than normal here, but they do look good. I kept it simple and tried the chocolate cannoli. I did get a peanut butter sandwich cookie with fudge filling. Really fudgy. So if you want to get your fudge on, then fudge it, get one! The location is a little tight to get into. There is an entrance on the main road and behind the location. The parking is limited but shouldn't really be a problem. They also have gender specific bathrooms down a narrow hallway in the back. About five or six tables for seating inside. read more

let's start 2 weeks ago when I went in for a piece of carrot cake. I witnessed a very young Gil working there boxing up cookies with her bare hands,no gloves no paper. I asked if the carrot cake was fresh and she said yes it was made today. That was a blatant lie which I discovered when I got home as it was clearly stale. I decided to give it 1 more try this evening and went in for a couple of eclairs,I specifically asked if these were fresh today and the response was yes. when I got home to try one of them it was FROZEN solid and so was the one I gave my mother in law. If you plan on going there to purchase fresh things or things that are properly handled,save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. Went solely for the fudge fantasies I get every time I come into town but left with other sweet treats as well. Staff was very kind. Would love to try all the different desserts they offer there .... We were in Clifton Park today on business. Luckily our obligation took us to the same plaza as West End Bagels which prompted a stop at The Cookie Factory and Dulce & Biscotti. My mission: To sample a few specialty items from both shops and to pit them against each other in a head to head tasting of cannoli (mini) and sfogliatelle. At the cookie factory my specialty items ordered were Sugar cookies, Chinese almond cookies and a mini eclair. The eclair was nice, no complaints but nothing to rave about either. The cookies were rave worthy. The Chinese almond cookies are very moist and flavorful. The black lab was all over every speck of crumb. The sugar cookies were so soft and had a wonderful butter flavor. I also purchased cannoli and sfogliatelle from both shops and sampled them side by side. Dolce & Biscotti was the clear winner. Cookie Factory made an admirable attempt but the cannoli shell had a slightly floury taste and the cream was close to a pudding texture. Visually Dulce's cannoli was stunningly beautiful. The texture of the shell was practically perfect and the filling was creamy and more.....just more. Sorry, Cookie Factory. As for the sfogliatelle, again Dulce was the better product. Cookie Factory's was smaller and slightly overbaked. The filling was fine but had a slight artificial lemon taste. Dulce's sfogliatelle was textbook. The pastry was perfectly baked and almost annoyingly flaky. The filing was subtle with a slight hint of brightness the made the lemon taste light and natural. Italian pastry at it's very best. Service at the Cookie Factory was swift and friendly. The selection of cupcakes was quite tempting, but I will save them for another day. Here goes... *Coconut cake slice: tasted like white cake with white frosting with toasted coconut on top. *Vanilla cupcake: this tasted like what you would get from the grocery store. Basic. The frosting tasted like your standard overly sugary frosting from the bakery department. *Frosted sugar cookie: this was the best thing. However it had a ridiculous amount of frosting, again the grocery store frosting. The cookie was soft and had good flavor though. *Apple cider donut: yucky! Very more bread like than apple flavor. They didn't even have the correct words on there after I specifically asked if they need me to repeat what I said because the women I was speaking with was so frantic on the phone and kept cutting me off. Absolutely nasty ..... coworker told me to go there since my family's other place closes at 6. So I said ok, we will try it. Went in and everything looked good and awesome design! Asked for two strawberry mini cheesecakes and the kids got their cookies and wife got a dozen of oatmeal raisin. Got home and we were excited!!! Yeahhhh no ....One of the cheesecakes were cherry. They taste like box store shelf mix. Very very disappointed.... The kids didn't like theirs as much ? And then the oatmeal's were hard as rocks. My wife left hers on the counter. Beautiful display case but what lured us in were the radio bars. We stumbled upon those in Upstate NY and couldn't wait to have them again since they seem to be regional. I Wanted canolli and they were out, the ones in the display case are fake and for display only...Ok so I bought a chocolate cake slice and a carrot cake slice. I was looking for a nice cake for my daughter's birthday. She is 5. I wanted to taste the frosting but was told I had to buy a cupcake to do so. I bought 2, vanilla & chocolate. The vanilla was okay. The chocolate was terrible!!!! It did not have a hint of chocolate taste. And it tasted like it had been sitting in a refrigerator for too long. The customer service is totally void. They did not have any samples to look at. When I asked if they could do a cat, I was told they do Hello Kitty on cookies. They did not look like Hello Kitty. I settled for polka dots. When I picked up the next day, the same young girl waited on me. She never smiled either day. She never said thank you. She didn't ask if I enjoyed the frosting the day before. I am not a big cookie eater but my wife LOVES the radio bars and wanted a radio bar cake. I called them up with short notice and was super impressed with their responsiveness for a special order which they had ready the next day and the price was super reasonable. No we don't have any and asked when they will have more she said in nasty tone we get what they send us. I was going to buy other items until her she became nasty. The staff are friendly and efficient. I had their mini-éclair, which was terrible, chocolate log which was good, and the hot crossed bun which was excellent. My major problem with them is that their prices in the store are about 25% higher than their prices they list online with their menu. Given how easy it is these days to revise online sites, this out of date pricing has to be purposeful. They should be more respectful of their customers. read more

The person behind the counter refused to correct or acknowledge the issue, blamed my wife and walked away.
