    This is NOT boba, guys.
    Lina L.

Made a quick stopover for boba tea and the fresh fruits used here in this place caught my attention. I had grapefruit fresh fruit tea with crystal boba and I tell you, it was not what I received. I don't know what boba world these guys live in but what I had is most certainly not boba made from tapioca. What they called crystal boba is really more like crystal jelly. The girl who made my drink took what I imagined was fresh grapefruit juice from the fridge, added tea and syrup to it and that's about it. You know, a slice of grapefruit would have been nice. On top of everything else, this is by far the most expensive boba drink I've ever had in my lifetime. $9.15 is what I paid. $9.15! For paying so much for a drink that is nowhere close to what a boba drink is, I am disgusted and upset. To the owner of this place, please don't advertise your products as boba when it's nowhere close to that. Boba is made of tapioca starch and your boba is my best guess, sugar, water and agar agar. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm too far away to return my drink, I would have 100% returned and get my money back. This is false advertising. For boba lovers, you have been warned. Stay far away from this place.

My 16 year old loves Boba and we decided to try this place because it was the closest to us and had good reviews. I think it must be new. Everything was very fresh (think paint) and new inside. It looked recently put together. I think it has potential but a few things would help I think. My daughter had very strong opinions about the place, so this review contains her views edited in with my own. Here are our suggestions: 1. it's painted a beautiful dark gray with white and gray quartzite floors and countertop. But for a boba place you kinda want more color to liven it up. It was too austere and formal. 2. Music would add some atmosphere. It was s i l e n t. 3. The menu was a bit confusing and we had no idea what to order. Photos of the drinks would have been helpful. Also, typography matters! (I'm a graphic designer so I notice these things) on one menu for the fruit slushies were listed all the fruits they used with large spacing between the fruits listed, so it looked like you could choose whatever fruit mix you wanted. However, that was not the case- they had specific fruit combinations- it's just that the spacing between the fruit names were too large, so they didn't look connected to one another. There was no list of what boba they offered, we had to ask and she said "tapioca or jellies"- there were 3 flavors of jellies, but when we ordered a fruit slushie, she didn't give us a flavor option. Evidently they come with specific flavor combinations? We later discovered that all 3 flavors of jellies were in the bottom of it. 4. The staff (of 1) made poor attempts at being friendly and helpful. With the lack of music, as well as said staff member silently staring at you waiting for your order, it made the whole experience awkward and uncomfortable. Upon asking a few questions, it was clear that "you get what's on the menu as it is and you can't change anything." Everything was a 3+ word flavor combination and every order was seemingly unalterable. This, on top of staff not even attempting to give details on the drinks, what was in them, or anything relating to the products whatsoever, the entire experience was made rather unpleasant. If the menu was laid out better and there were photos, we would have had an easier time ordering, When there is no music playing, dull colors, a difficult to read menu, and no "vibe" set, the staff will need to work harder to make coming here a half decent experience. $10.50 was kind of steep for a boba. But they did use visible fresh fruit and fancy, branded cups with lids. My daughter ordered a pineapple strawberry kiwi slushie and it came with jellies we couldn't tell the flavor of, but overall It was tasty.

Went there on a beautiful day, a perfect day for ice cream. Going in here is a huge hike for us being that we live 40 miles away. It's always a highlight to go, and we always order large cups when we go. Keep in mind this place is not a bargain, you generally get what you pay for and this place has always been worth it except for this trip. And with all my excitement, I neglected to see how much gelato was left for one of the flavors I ordered, and it was the bottom of the barrel-instead of the young gentleman talking me out of the flavor, he gingerly scraped up with all his might whatever was left in the bottom, then proceeded to ask me if I wanted a flavor that was similar to it... Shame on me I said no, and he proceeded to give me the other flavor I had asked for which is a chocolate brownie. As he scooped, I said you know what give me some of the cappuccino please-he huffed and puffed and arrogantly told me he could no longer do it... Why? You've only done a couple scoops of chocolate what's the big deal. Asking him a question it was like I was asking him a life ending favor. He then huffed as he took my husband's order. As we both ate our ice creams we were very mystified that it was lacking the flavors that it once had. True, we both had tried new flavors that we never had before, but it didn't have the same texture and it was overly sweet. Secondly, my husband got their waffle cone. Now let's talk about how the boy neglectfully scooped that waffle cone... He didn't put any ice cream in the cone only slapped a ball on top - that was it. The ice creams came out to $16 and honestly the waffle cone was flavorless! My husband wound up throwing it away as it probably was one of the worst waffle clones he's ever had. Maybe we need a break but we definitely need a break from that young gentleman who took our order... He needs a little polish refresher course on how to be a little more cordial and Little accommodating. Thank God for the tip cup! As for the parking, it's hell, absolutely satanic but that is not reflective of the rating. You are at the mercy of street parking and not easy to find.

Because I didn't experience any of them. I've lived in the next town for almost eight years. In that time I've eaten at the New Canaan Diner AT LEAST 100 times. This night was not special; just looking for a late night hamburger. It's Friday night, May 9. It's raining. The sign in the window says that they are open until 9 pm. I walked in at 8:40 pm. Ok, a little late, but I just wanted a hamburger. More than half of the tables were filled. All of the seats at the counter were filled. People were eating. All good signs. The waiter said, "We're closed," and immediately turned his back to me. Not "Sorry, we're closed." Just "We're closed," and I got his back. I looked around the room at all the people eating and said to one of the other waitstaff, "You're closed?" She looked embarrassed and said, "Well, the kitchen is closed...." She seemed to understand that her colleague's behavior was inappropriate in a retail eating establishment. He shouldn't leave this job to be a greeter at Walmart. He would be bad at that. I nodded and walked out. I'm having Japanese food across the street. I really didn't want Japanese food for dinner, but the food is always good at Hama and the hospitality is always superior. All the chefs at the sushi bar bow and say "thank you" as I leave. I'm sure that their gratitude is not deeply sincere, but it beats "We're closed" followed by an abrupt about-face. The diner is dead to me. At least for a while.

I asked for scrambled eggs with a side of whole wheat toast! I said no salad please. I got the eggs, no salad with 2 slabs of dry bread that did not resemble toast. I am pretty sure toast is not a delicacy! It involves a small amount of work, whole wheat bread, a toaster and then delivery on a plate. It seems as if getting Water is extra service so I was happy to get that served just to me. I gave up on the toast as I consumed my eggs and rolled the dice! I asked for an almost croissant, something they almost always have. My party was not finished with breakfast and I just wanted the croissant with my coffee.
