We were excited to try the restaurant after securing a reservation in mid June, but we felt as though we would only describe Dolfy's as just good. A solid good. Atmosphere was aesthetic. Drinks were good. Portions mimicked a tapas style and we had quite a few, both finished our dinner, and had dessert and did not feel overly full after. Ibérico pork skewers were our favorite pintxos and we had two servings. We also had Chips y jamon ibérico, the Crudo, and the Razor Clams. The Razor Clams were also a favorite from the appetizers. The appetizers and pintxos were simple but did not overly impress us especially in the context of the cost, including the crudo which varied in consistency with each bite. Our mains were great but we still felt hungry following. For dessert we had the Basque cheesecake and the sorbet. Again it was good. From my personal preference, I preferred the sorbet over the basque cheesecake. We love basque cheesecake though this version was not my favorite. When I have reviewed the most recent menu, it seems like they have adjusted the menu since we had our reservation, but with the cost and our overall experience it was good but we don't think it will be a space we will be returning to soon. read more

Good drinks, mediocre food, staff that ranges from poor to openly hostile! We live in the neighborhood and went for an early dinner before the theater on a Friday night. Our server was perhaps the most unhelpful person you could imagine. When we asked questions about the menu, most were answered with "I guess that...". Being a server is a sales job. Don't guess! That said, the Txeechytini, the Spanish G&T, and the Carajillo from the bar were all amazing! We'd go back just for those (more on that in a second). The food was just ok. Fried olives tasted more of fried breading than any recognizable olive flavor; the chargrilled leeks were delicious, but overwhelmed by a puddle of delicious Romesco that didn't have another use as far as we could tell (bread for dipping would work). The entrees had less flavor than you'd expect from this family of restaurants. The highlight of the food service was the Espresso Sorbetto. Smooth and delicious with a hint of olive oil and sea salt. We thought this would be a great place to go for drinks and maybe dessert at the bar with friends, so we tried that the other night. Holy COW! What a mistake. We walked in about 9:00pm. Half the tables were empty, but there were 6 or 8 people waiting by the door. The bar was hopping so we walked to stand by the bar and get a cocktail. We're from New Orleans and this place is on a strip of restaurants with good bars where that's the thing--pop in, stand near the bar, grab a drink, see if a seat opens up. No problem for us. Apparently though, it's a problem for them! We were immediately accosted by the rudest male host I've ever run into. He demanded to know what we thought we were doing and why we didn't wait to be seated. My wife explained we were just popping in for a drink at the bar, not a table. He proceeded to scream at her that he "had lots of people waiting in line to get a drink at the bar and, unless you have reservations, you will have to leave." He was super rude about it and made a bit of a scene. Honestly, only a few places in New Orleans require a reservation to get a drink at the bar and even those (ahem...Cure!) make sure to accommodate walk-ins too. A place that opened two or three weeks ago doesn't have the stroke to pull that off and piss off the locals. We left and walked two doors over to a restaurant owned by a different hospitality group. Same scene-- packed house, people waiting at the door, etc. The hostess there was superb, "just drinks and maybe dessert? Sure. Our bar is kind of full at the moment. If you'd like to hover, you're welcome to. If you'd like to sit together, I have tables inside and out that aren't spoken for a the moment. I can get you set up there. Your choice." This is a restaurant that lives up to the hype. We tried so many things, all pinxtos and appetizers. Fried olives, sourdough bread, iberico ham, octopus, tuna crudo, crab claws, patatas bravas, and more. Everything was great. 2nd time to this amazing place; wanted to try the steak but we ordered so many small plates before asking about the steak sizes and knew we needed to forgo the steak on this trip. Once again (any every future trip) we ordered the.sourdough bread with espelette butter--absolutely unbelievable and fun fact is that their sourdough started was handed down by former occupants of the space Ancora. In our two visits we enjoyed amazing small plates of fried olives with cider mornay, button mushrooms, charred leeks with , crudo, shrimp al ajillo and Basque cheesecake. Both times, we had the grilled Iberico pork over potato purée with foie demi--truly mind-blowing. We will go back very soon to try the steak as well as Arroz Melcso and may have to get another couple to help us out. Everything is fabulous. The food is excellent. The menu is thoughtfully curated and the service is excellent. They have mocktails and cocktails. It is such an elegant environment. A must try! It was so hard not to get everything on the menu and then some. We sat at the bar, which we love doing, but also a great experience to interact with the staff and watch them cook with the wood burning oven. Cocktails were on point too. You HAVE to try the pork over potatoes, it doesn't even look like pork, idk how they do it! It's sliced and cooked to perfection. Awesome date night spot and would even suggest bringing out of town and work guests here too because of the ambiance. Really cool spot and awesome food. Super new but super glad we tried this place. TikTok creators hyped this place up and it was worth it. Started off with 2 fabulous cocktails that we ordered on repeat. The bees knees has actual honeycomb with it. I got the g & tea and it was so good that I can't wait to make something similar at home. We started with the shrimp appetizer and the button mushrooms and the fried potatoes. Mushrooms were a let down because they were lukewarm and I have a food temp thing, but we were some of the only people in the place so maybe that's how they were supposed to be. Potatoes were perfection. Shrimp was good but thankfully my bf got all the meat out because I'm not that adept at that. For mains we had the yellow fin tuna and pork. Both were really good and flavorful, but I think the pork was a bit better. Overall very good service and food unlike any other place in the city. Atmosphere is nice, and we were seated from our reservation immediately. Cocktail choices were good, but the wine selection was limited. Multiple servers, bussers, etc with their hair down, and I noticed drinks being served to tables by hand, without trays. Yes, it's overpriced, but so is everywhere. Yes the plates are small, but that's just how it is now. The very small plates (pintxos) were a nice way to try multiple items. The mushrooms were great. Ordered the Octopus appetizer and it was incredibly rubbery - I get it, Octopus is hard to cook. The potatoes that came with it were great. Iberico pork was very rich and cooked well. Half-chicken was plentiful, but not flavorful even with the piri piri sauce. Would return once some of the kinks are worked out and would hope for more attentive service details. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant. We went Friday night and the food was delicious. We started with the pinxtos and they were all good - but the entrees were the star of the show. The ibérico pork, grilled dry aged yellowfin tuna and the arroz con meloso were all excellent. They have a nice cocktail menu too. The Bee's Knees was a great drink as was the Clover. We finished the meal with the basque cheesecake, the only dessert, which was phenomenal. Great food, friendly service, good atmosphere, and not crazy expensive. read more

I visited in the first couple of months that Dolfy's has opened. Mid May. I went with a Food and Beverage writer, who really knows her restaurants in New Orleans. We both visit new restaurants and bars to see whats up. It's fun to go to different neighborhoods and buildings. I had just visited Portugal for a couple of weeks and I was really craving some Spanish/Portuguese flavors. I LOVeD the menu appetizers and entrees.
