Absolutely love this bar! Just went for my first time the other day, but i'll definitely be back. Spinning records and low lighting makes for a really great vibe and date spot. I honestly would probably enjoy coming here by myself as well. The burger and hush puppies are to diee for AND they were serving up my favorite oysters-- murder points. They didn't serve them with crackers, but I also didn't ask for any-- they did have a delicious vinaigrette shallot mixture to put on top though. On top of all that delicious food, Alex provided exceptional service and made some amazing drinks. I tried the fig old-fashioned and I highly recommend. Very cute tavern I stumbled across after dinner. We decided to have a few cocktails and a few oysters. The dirty martini was phenomenally and my G&T was great, definitely will be dropping a few cardamom in mine at home from now on. The oyster selection was great we had a mix of gulf and east coast! Best burger I've had in years. Sick of smash burgers, and private equity meat....this was not that. Great char on the burger, telling med/medium well/ rare actually matters, great toppings, including I believe a red onion aioli and toasted crispy they gave a shit when making it bread. Opened in 2010, Bouligny Tavern is named after one of the first Creole plantations in the area. After admiring the historic mansions and lush oak trees on our walk, this spot was the perfect place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is sleek with dim lighting. I was in the mood for an Old Fashioned, and their fig variation was a great change up. Our bartender was equally fantastic--attentive and knowledgeable on bourbons. Bouligny Tavern was amazing! Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of the food because we consumed it too quickly... we had their sirloin burger, fries, hush puppies. They were so good! For dessert we had the brownie and the butter cake! The butter cake was amazing! The brownie a bit dry. I think the brownie would've been much better with ice cream. However, all in all the food was 10 out of 10 would recommend! As for drinks, we tried just about everything on the menu, and I would highly recommend anything with gin in it! While the food was amazing, the service was a bit slow... As this was my first time, that's what I can say. However, I was visiting family who has been here multiple times and they were surprised by the slow service. So my assumption is that it is not slow service typically. Our waitress was awesome and very polite! I really enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant! We were sat outside. I enjoyed the outdoor lighting and the music they were playing. Disappointed with recent visit. A friend had a party and when it was over we wanted to "after party." I can't speak for everyone's behavior however, we've been hosted as a Krewe here previously and many of our members come here often-even if there's no social events going on. We were greeted with hostility and made to feel very unwelcome. After one round, decided to go somewhere friendlier and settling tabs, or even individual drinks was met with the same curt responses and irritation. Being in the industry myself I really tried to give the benefit of the doubt in this situation but it was clear that they didn't want to take care of anyone. In conversations since, the response has been "oh they're known for their sh!tty attitude." Guess we're not the only ones who have experienced this low level of service. Would have preferred to email a manager directly, but no contact info was listed on the website. read more

Had a very nice dinner here recently. All of the food was delicious, especially the panzanella salad and beef bruschetta. I could have skilled the Gougères only because they were somewhat plain compared to everything else. We got to sit on the front porch which was perfect with the heat lamp next to us. I recently provided sound for an event at BT and let me tell you this place is a vibe. The food and drink were absolutely amazing. But more than that, the staff was absolutely incredible. From the owner (John) to mgmt (Craig) to the servers, waitresses, cooks, and cleaners, everyone was so damn friendly. They do have a small menu but that's ok cuz it it a bar more so than a restaurant. It is the BEST burger I've had. Honestly. A plus on that thing so were the fries which my hubbie kept stealing. Just happened to visit this tavern on the night when a random storm dampened the city. They lost power in the restaurant and it suddenly felt like a party. The service was friendly and prompt. On our first visit to Bouligny Tavern, it was wonderful-great food, great service and great energy. Returning there a couple weeks ago it was disappointing. The hostess that seated us was lovely and her smile very welcoming. It took forever for our server to come take our drink order. Overall 4.5 Stars, and would go back. Stopped in on a whim with friends after another event since I'd never been before. I was immediately struck by the ambiance and would stop in for drinks just for the ambiance next time. Ambiance: 5 stars. Feels like you're stepping back in time with the furniture, lighting, records playing (love the sound of vinyl), and even the smells. Really great space to grab a drink, hang with friends, go on a date, sit at the table or at a bar. You can't go wrong with the ambiance. Service: 5 stars. Everyone was very nice. The food came out awkwardly - kitchen forgot to make something at one point, and my second drink wasn't the best - but overall the service was very good; everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks: 4.5 stars. Beautiful Lie was amazingly delicious the first time I tried it; way too bitter the second time I tried so I switch to Rose - they have great wine selections, so that was still a solid choice. Food: 3.5 stars. This is where a 1/2 star was docked. Based on price, I just kinda wanted more from the food. I ordered the Beet Cured Salmon (rye blinis not good at all, deconstruction was slightly odd, but Salmon itself was delicious); raw oysters (very good); and snack trio (decent and feels expensive at $7 for the very, very small amount received of each item - none of which seem super special between olives, almonds and popcorn; you don't even get a handful of each). Others I was with ordered burgers, which they said were good and a salad that someone said was pretty good as well. I think I just need to maybe try different things on the menu. The bartenders are very creative and if your not sure about what to drink, just name your booze and they'll whip you up something delicious! We have been several times now (reservations recommended, especially on the weekends), and it's certainly one of my favorite spots. I recommend the Axe in the Attic, very strong but very tasty. The wings are probably my favorite that I've come across in the city and make sure you try the coconut cake!! read more

We found this place when looking for late night food options thag weren't in the French quarter. We were pleasantly surprised that they had the type of food we were looking for. Their place is on a quaint street in uptown and it's my favorite kind of neighborhood. We sat outside and it was a lovely option. They have a decent wine list but we didn't go for a bottle. We tried many apps and we loved the Bert cured salmon, the pate, the French onion dip, and the wings. I would definitely venture back to this place to try more of their food.
