The waiter never responded to a question about a menu item which would have determined the final choice. The Martini was served in a DIMINUTIVE cordial glass. It was half the size of a normal martini. The best selections were the focaccia bread, potatoes and the oysters. The others were mediocre. The Pasta Blue Crab was served COLD and really without any crab pieces or crab flavor. The Pasta Lobster had nice soft pasta pillows of ricotta, but atop was one small formerly frozen log-like piece of lobster with no flavor..it might as well have been a chunk of cellulose. REALLY! The fish was as well undistinguished. Perhaps a return trip to try the other entrees, because the focaccia was delightful with the oyster sauce! read more

I had a wonderful time at Osteria last night. We went for happy hour (weekdays, 4-6 pm) and the drinks and food options were great. We got the burrata crostini for $8 which were decadent, and we got a margarita pizza for $15. We also got 2 cocktails for $9 each. We went here for Valentines Day & I will admit I was pleasantly surprised. We vowed to stay away from restaurants during VDay, but this place wasn't too bad. The arancini was delicious! That was probably my favorite thing there. The Brussel sprouts were good, but I've had better. The pastas could've used a little bit more salt. The crab pasta needed some more cream & salt. The short rib pasta was very pleasant. It tasted a lot like it had some Vietnamese influence, especially with the cilantro and seasoning. I would definitely come back! The service was great. The hype is real with this restaurant! We had an excellent dining experience here. Our wait staff was incredible and very attentive. We started off with the black truffle aracini which was delicious! The black truffle was a really nice flavor. I had the radiatori for my entree which had the perfect spice. This was probably the seventh visit we've had here. Every time has been well above average. Unfortunately last night the first course of our meal was very very underwhelming. 1: grilled oysters (lukewarm and sauce was boring. A slight hint of lemon juice. No Calabrian chili or any other flavor.) 2: Beets (visually unappealing/no green no white just beet with shaved fennel covered in beet juice/pesto was barely passable there was no seasoning salt or pepper or acid) 3: Arancini Truffle (barely edible.. insanely dense, way too many breadcrumbs or binder inside. Again lacking seasoning. Aïoli was on the plate but about enough for one ball. Hard to eat! If I wasn't paying $16 for four little Riece balls I would have skipped it but instead I choked them down. Second course : we got the scallops and the spicy pizza and both were phenomenal. I literally said " if I was blindfolded you could not convince me that we were eating at the same restaurant between those two separate courses". I'm not trying to trash y'all I'm just trying to let you know that your cooks need to be tasting things whoever's at the pass needs to be making sure that plates are garnished etc. btw I also want to mention that the salt and pepper was on the table so when I said things were under seasoned they were unfortunately the salt shaker didn't work it was packed to the Gil's and had a ton of rice in it so we had to get up and go steal a salt shaker from another table. The aranchini was good, the sauce was the winner on the plate maybe 3 our of 5. Potatoes were excellent, highly recommend 5 out if 5. Same with the lemon radiatore (spelling) pasta. I went here for a girls night happy hour with my friends and it did not disappoint. The drinks were on point, our happy hour arancini and squash dish were both delicious, and our main courses were memorable. We shared a pizza, the spicy rigatoni, and the mushroom pasta, all of which were absolutely amazing. We topped it off with the tiramisu which was good, but not to die for. I have been wanting to come for for the longest time and finally had a chance to try it a few weeks ago. The restaurant was so pretty. I love that you can see the steeet through the huge windows. For appetizers we ended up getting the crudo and some risotto . The fish was so good! Would def try again. The risotto balls with the truffle sauce I feel left me wanting more, needed some more flavor. For dinner I ended up going with the campanelle pasta. It was a mushroom pasta with an oyster sauce. The staff here really care for their customers and they kept checking on me while I was waiting for my friend and I really appreciated all of their kind gestures. We started with Black Truffle Arancini. It was my first time having Arancini and it was great! We then split the Spicy Rigatoni and you could feel the spice kick at the end of each bite. For dessert, we had the Brown Butter Bay Semifreddo and I loved the guava Carmel that they used in the dish and the crumbles also really added balance to the dessert. Osteria Lupo - More Like Osteria Nope-o (2/5) Alright, y'all, let's talk about Osteria Lupo--a spot that had promise but ended up fizzling out harder than a flat LaCroix. My fiancé recommended this place, and since I don't get to see this particular school friend often, I figured, why not try somewhere new? So we rolled up to Osteria Lupo on Magazine Street, ready to feast. First impressions? Fine, I guess. The décor didn't wow me, but your eyes do get pulled to the bar as soon as you walk in. Nice backdrop for a picture if that's your thing, but otherwise, the atmosphere was just... there. Nothing offensive, nothing special. The Food: Prosciutto Pizza - Off to a decent start. They didn't skimp on the prosciutto, which I respect. The saltiness balanced well with the rest of the pizza, and honestly, it was a safe but solid pick. If you're gonna eat here, this is one of the safer bets. Mushroom Campanella - Ehh. You ever eat something and immediately think, yeah, I could see myself getting real bored of this halfway through? That was this dish. Mushroomy, earthy, and straightforward--like the culinary equivalent of a monotone lecture. Also, pasta leaned a little too al dente for my taste. Not a dealbreaker, but I wasn't exactly thrilled either. Brussels Sprouts - Crispy. Fine. You've had crispy Brussels before? Then you've had these. They exist. Moving on. Hangar Steak (AKA The Crime Scene on a Plate) - Now this was where the meal took a nosedive into hell no territory. My friend ordered it medium rare. What came out? A steak with a burnt-to-hell crust and a salt content rivaling the Dead Sea--yet somehow, the inside was still practically mooing. The color transition was wild--like it went from "cooked" to "uh-oh" in the blink of an eye. You could see the raw, unrendered fat in the middle, meaning it either hit the pan straight from the fridge, or they cranked the heat up to volcanic levels and just let it sear into oblivion. Either way, absolutely not. Server asked if everything was good, and I straight-up said NOPE. They offered to reheat it, but at that point, I wasn't in the mood for the steak-salvaging Olympics. Just told them to pass the word along so the next table wouldn't have to experience this disasterpiece. Took it home, but honestly, my air fryer deserved better than to have to fix their mistake. Final Verdict: Listen, I'm not out here expecting life-changing Italian food every time I go out, but this was mid at best and straight-up bad at worst. The only thing keeping this from a 1-star is that the pizza was passable, and the staff wasn't rude--just, unfortunately, serving up some L's from the kitchen. Would I come back? Absolutely not. There's too much good food in NOLA to waste a meal here. Save your time, save your money, and go somewhere that actually knows how to cook a steak. read more

After already having an amazing time visiting this city, Osteria Lupo made me fall in love even more. The service was absolutely phenomenal. Both of our servers, Alexa and the beautiful woman with the pink hair, had great conversation and great knowledge of the menu itself. Now, my fiancé and I have plenty of great meals, but it is a rare occurrence that our appetizers, entrees AND dessert blow our minds. We started with the daily specials crawfish dip; that was fresh and every flavor paired perfectly together. For the main course, I had the BEST seared scallops I've ever had (being from the West Coast I've had my fair share of delicious scallops, but these took the cake) and my fiancé had the crispy duck pasta which wasn't swimming in a pool of sauce like mine but was also amazing. Again, I cannot stress how well the flavors of each dish came together. I truly have never experienced anything like it. Finally, for dessert, their take on Key Lime pie was phenomenal!!! From the black currant merengue to the biscoff cookie crust, every bite of was a reminder that the food here is made with meticulous preparation, but more importantly love. If you want to take a break from the delicious fried food found everywhere else and have a nice date night, I cannot recommend this place enough. I absolutely over-ordered, got the arancini, the red shrimp, and the grilled oysters. All were really delicious with the shrimp being my favorite. The oysters had more of a mussel flavor to them and I almost mistook the dish for escargots. For entrees, ordered the mushroom pasta and ribeye. The pasta was amazing, great flavors and hardy mushrooms which add a ton of texture. The ribeye was really good...not sure if it's 75$ good so might avoid that on future visits. The server was great but would have liked a little more help with the wine pairing. The one recommended didn't exactly fit. They've done an outstanding job creating the perfect ambiance with dishes that are equally amazing. I came on a Friday night and it was a packed house, but the service did not lack one bit. We received our drinks and food very quickly. As an appetizer, I ordered the royal red shrimp: very large and succulent. The sauce was perfectly crafted and did not overwhelm the shrimp. My entree was the Spaghetti alla Chittara; not spicy at all despite its description, and it was very delicious! Perhaps the sauce could've been a teeny bit more rich and less oily, but it didn't ruin the dish that way. My friend ordered the Radiatori and literally inhaled it, she had no complaints either. We ate here for my fiancé's birthday dinner and it was delicious! We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation time but they were able to accommodate us. It seems like a popular choice for a special occasion restaurant as we saw many tables celebrating a birthday or another event. I would say the dress code is Smart Casual. We started with the Peace Crudo and the Nduja Arancini. The crudo that night was fatty tuna and it was very melt-in-you-mouth soft. The fish was very fresh and the lemon adds freshness. The Arancini was crispy on the outside and had salty cheese and pickled peppers on the inside. I got the Campanelle that was a mushroom lover's dream! It contained multiple types of mushrooms - I appreciated seeing shiitake on the menu as I don't see that too commonly outside of Asian cuisine. Each bite was full of umami and I loved this dish. The Radiatori was also amazing - the basil was super fresh and not overpowering considering how much there was. We saw many people ordering pizzas, namely the Davila, spicy Calabrian one. It is a very large serving so for two people it could absolutely be a meal. I was not impressed with it though. The spicy sauce was drizzled all over and too powerful. My fiancé loves spicy food and he said the sauce was overkill. In addition to this sauce, there were jalepenos throughout. I would suggest to try one of the other two pizzas. I came here during coolinary and I would give it 5 stars but I was truly shocked by the chef refusing to accommodate my friends allergy to fish. I've never heard of anything like that before and I find it shocking that a restaurant would allow that. They had a family style tasting menu that was randomly selected by the chef so it's baffling to me that my friend wasn't able to enjoy everything that came out even though the allergy was made known prior to ordering. Anyways, let's get into the review. Our server Mackenzie was the best! She was so patient with us and just a really cool girl. She even called over the resident wine expert to help us decide what to order. We ordered the family style tasting menu but also ordered a pizza just in case we didn't get full. (I left out of this place STUFFED.) The appetizers that came out: burrata con panna, pesce crudo, and marinated mushrooms. The entrees: hanger steak which was so tender and some kind of fish I can't really recall but it was a little too minty. The Diavola pizza was soooo bomb! I can't remember what the names of the desserts were but I didn't care for either. The current bartender has incorrectly took my order the last two times I've been there and the problems still persist on so many levels. We gave it another try this past week because we have been to Lupo dozens of times and we really loved Jill and Jon but the current guy bartender forgot to input our order in again, then lied about it, then gave us the wrong food AGAIN, didn't check with us or ask about our food and then proceeded to give us a check before we asked for it(not even our check but someone else's ‍) then he topped it off by charging my card for items from another check(same thing happened last time ‍) and then proceeded as if it was too inconvenient to fix it and acted like we were the problem. It hurts to say but we couldn't possibly recommend a seat at this bar again. read more

The ambience was more like a hotel or something, just not much personality. The bar area had a bunch of personailty and good decor and vibe. Our wait staff were all very friendly and accomodating, and even funny - they made us laugh. The food was just OK. I think the best item was the crudo. The pasta dish was just too garlicky, and I love garlic. The dessert was too sweet, and I love sweet. The waiter asked how everyone was and I was honest with him, that I felt the food could have been a little better, especially the dessert. He offered to get me something else and I kindly declined.
