    10 out of 10. Would do it again. It was a perfect New Orleans winter night. Weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We arrived with out a reservation and still was seated immediately. My friend and I are huge fans of sharing so we tried everything. Everything was delicious but the stand out was the red fish. Everything on the plate was delicious. I'd come back just for the fish plate alone. Baru I will definitely return.

    I came here with a large party for galentines and I really enjoyed everything! I started with the chuzos de carne which were so tender and delicious. My friend had the mazorca and I wish I ordered that too! It was so good. For my entree I had the atun à la planta which was light and tasty

    Baru is amazing from food to cocktails to service. Intimate restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is super accommodating for parties of all sizes. As always a 10/10 fav!

    We stumbled on this lovely tapas restaurant. It's on the corner with street parking available. They have seating for large groups in the front of the restaurant, and further to the back is a bit more intimate setting. The ambience is warm and inviting as you enter. Our server, Juliana, took time to explain the dishes. I was impressed that they have three types of water to choose from. I started out with the Mazorca which was a delicious blend of both corn and very thin, sliced shoestring, potatoes. There was plenty for two. Next was the Ceviche Classico served with large plantain chips. The flavors of the mixture, complemented one another perfectly. My dining companion ordered the market fish which was from South Africa and served whole. It was prepared well and seasoned to my palate. We were treated to some perfect flan and what a great way to end our last night in New Orleans. I have marked this restaurant to return to on my next visit.

    I wanted to try Baru again with my sister in town, so we checked out their coolinary menu for this month. Our food was excellent. It was well prepared and seasoned, and the portion sizes were generous. They had some beautiful options to pick from, so I felt like it was worth $53 per person. The service was a little slow during our reserved time, but they were busy on a Saturday night so I can understand. I would come back for sure!

    Giving this place a 3.5. It wasn't the best , but it wasn't absolutely horrible . The service was fast and our waiter was friendly , but the food wasn't as appetizing as I wish it would be. They offers a decent dining experience with a welcoming vibe and friendly service. It's a good option if you're in the area and want a casual meal, but there's definitely room for the kitchen to step up its game. I'd give it 3.5 stars and would consider returning to see if things improve.

    Absolutely DELICIOUS drum fish ceviche, black bean empanadas & guava pastillo! Very posh boutique dining experience off Magazine St in the Garden District. I also ordered the happy hour appetizers. Juliana was my server and was super sweet and attentive!

    I've had Baru on my radar forever and finally checked it out and glad I did. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was very good although I'd prefer if some of the items came with a spicy cream sauce vs just a chili based oil sauce. The avocado salad had only 1 sliver of avocado. Glasses of wine were super skimpy. Seemed like 4 ounce pours. The ceviche was very good. The empanadas while simple the crust was amazing. The shrimp dish was classically prepared but appreciate they were ready to eat. But beyond my nitpicky comments I enjoyed the overall experience and will be back. I'll just order a bottle of wine to avoid the skimpy pours.

    Great food and great service even though they were packed. Only a few bar seats left. Tables were full. I got the BBQ Jerk Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Kale Callaloo, Salsa Macha and Pikliiz. It was excellent. Other order on the table was Pescado Frita which was Redfish, Coconut Rice, Patacones and Mango Escabeche. That was excellent also.

    Very unexpected on how amazing the food tasted. We're talking flavors that pair well, freshness, and taste. Everything that I had tasted so well. Both ceviche's were fresh and the plantain chips were also fresh. I couldn't decide on what to eat so I did small plates. Service was lovely. I didn't sit on the roof top but inside was still nice. Would definitely eat here again

    Churasco w/ Coconut Rice...

    This used to be my favorite place to eat churisco skirt steak ... coconut rice ... and flan. Well, times have changed since the last I visited in 2015. Came on a Monday evening, and there were three on the dining staff; they all made drinks & served the diners. It was about 6:45p. It took a minute to get our menus & water. We initially ordered the Lamb Sliders & Meduros. We literally had to look for our server & she had to check on our appetizers bc she may have forgotten. The wait for the appetizers were about 20-25min. As soon as that order came, we immediately ordered our entrees so that it would not take another 1Hr to get our food. The churisco & the jerk chicken was ok. It was btr before as I rmbr it. The coconut rice was not as texturized, too much water/coconut milk; on the soggy side. I was excited to order my dessert- flan. When I got it, I took two bites; my 1st was to get a taste of the creme, eggs, & crispiness of the sugar on top.... I experienced none of that. I took my second bite & i was no longer confused. The flan tasted stale, maybe it was not made fresh &/or store bought. The consistency of the flan's creaminess was absent & more spongy than anything. The bathrm. I thought it would be fitting to the type of venue it is, but, it's small & the hand soap & towels are not placed strategically for guests to labouring to find it. I give this visit a TWO. I was literally embarrassed bc I talked it up so much and to bring the dinner party for a disappointment, did not make me feel good. Not sure if there will be a next time. Thnx for the experience, anyway=*}

    Empanadas, chusos, margarita and maracuya. 10/10 all around

    Another delicious day at Baru! We went for tapas and drinks and it did not disappoint! Here is what we ordered: Empanadas, chusos, yuca frita- 10/10 all around Drinks: margarita and maracuya. Can't wait to go back! The only thing I would not order again is the arepas bc I thought they were the least flavorful. Everything else was wow!

    How can you reserve a seat on the balcony? I made reservations but it only allows for "dining room". I tried to call during open hours but went to voicemail each time. I also messaged their Instagram page and had no response. Any tips?

    You'll have to keep calling until you get a person. They're usually pretty good about answering the phone.

I've ordered from Uber Eats plenty of times, but this was my first time actually dining in, and I'm so glad I did. It's a small, cozy spot where you can actually see the food being cooked. It gives "grandmas and aunties are in the back making sure every plate is seasoned with love," and honestly... that's exactly what it tastes like. This time I tried the beef liver with onions and bell peppers, and it was SO good. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked just right. Can we talk about the rice for a second? I don't know what they cook it in, but it has to be some kind of broth because it is hands down some of the best rice I've ever had. Every grain is perfectly cooked. It's not gummy, not hard... just perfect. The refried beans? Absolutely incredible. I brought some home and literally had to hide my leftovers from my daughters because they kept trying to eat my food. I've also had their beef soup (the short rib soup), and it's one of my favorites. Their pupusas are delicious, the pickled cabbage that comes with them is addictive, and the sweet plantains are amazing. I ordered a mojito too. It wasn't super strong, but it was refreshing and paired really well with the meal. The service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and I found out they have free Wi-Fi and a rewards program, which I never knew because I usually order delivery. If you're looking for authentic Honduran food in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and check out Tía Maria's Kitchen. Everything I've tried has been consistently delicious, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Another thing I find annoying is they're always trying to get you to buy a bottle of wine. When I saw the special menu on Open Table, it didn't mention alcohol. We tried to substitute the required bottle of wine with mocktails, but that was a no-go. Presentation: 11/10: They make some of the most beautiful drinks and dishes. Every dish is magazine-worthy. Food Ropa Viega--8/10-the meat was chewy, but had a good flavor. The cornbread was ok. Crabmeat Spring Rolls--8/10--these were different, like a crab cake inside of an egg roll. Hanger Steak--7/10--the steak had the texture of roast, and reminded me of my appetizer. The execution, while pretty, didn't align with my expectations. Baked Banana Mango Cheesecake: 7/10: I like that it was light. Oftentimes cheesecake is heavy. Pan de Pan--5/10--I didn't try the ice cream, but this is not a good take on bread pudding. It was way too dry and didn't have much flavor. Green Passion Mocktail--9/10--cucumber-forward, but still pretty tasty and satisfying.
