Great accidental proximity location! My wife chose my hotel and when I checked in I looked to see if I had any nearby bookmarks. This place was directly across the street. Dive bar vibe is the feels. String lights, old creaky floors, big bay window, lots of outdoor seats, plenty of bar for us all! Total NOLA vibe! Bartenders were cool. I got a bit inebriated twice here and ate here once. Love that I could just walk back to my swanky hotel. Solid choice, C! Check out Hotel Henrietta if you are nearby. I asked the guy behind the what he recommended. Instantly he said "the mussels". You don't have to say another word, bruh. I had the mussels for my meal, obviously. Wow. They were perfect. The sauce was amazing, not sure what the white shit was, don't partake in that mess. Nice place to socialize or relax with friends or a book. Outdoor patio seating along the trolly line. Long bar inside. A couple nice Belgian Ale are on the menu. Chimmay on tap was dry but a Fin Du Monde was available to save the night. Big portion of house mushrooms had some bonus artichoke hearts and peppers in there for a nice surprise. I really love this place, but it's getting pretty run-down. The outside is filled with plastic pots of dead plants/bare soil, overgrown sidewalk plantings and tons of strands of dead/faded/dirty xmas lights. The bussing stand is right next to the front door and really sloppy/dirty. The paint on the windows is faded and peeling, all in all looking sad. Total buzzkill on the usually gorgeous ambiance of sitting on the avenue with a lovely glass of wine. I happened into this restaurant/bar last night. It proclaims itself to be a wine bar. I asked for a glass of Merlot and was told, "we don't have that." I then asked for a glass of Pinot Noir and the bartender begrudgingly shoved it at me across the bar. I asked if i could order from the menu. He handed me a menu and told me to order from him and someone would bring me the food when it was ready. I ordered the herbsaint oysters. It was okay...not worth the $20 price tag. I then ordered the prime rib meatballs as that sounded interesting. When those arrived, the sauce was piping hot, but the meatballs were cold in the center. (I guess they did not microwave them long enough.) Anyway, for a city so forward leaning re: alcohol, this place should try to keep up with their peers. read more

Even the French fries aren't what one would expect as they are fried in goose fat and served with savory sauces for dipping. You can't go wrong here. The bar proudly displays over 200 bottles of wine. Seating is available at the bar, at highboys, and on the patio overlooking the famous streetcar line. Even though orders have to be placed at the bar, the kitchen staff is kind and the other staff work quickly to clear the tables of dirty dishes. Since my move back to NOLA, I've been revisiting many of my favorite places and it's been like a renewed love affair, honestly. Last night we landed at the Delachaise. Since my last review, I had been back a bunch of times and it's never been as packed as it was over 10 years ago. They've extended their outdoor seating area and it's quite magical out there. Last night was one of those late winter beautiful nights, where it's 73 and no humidity. That fairy-lit paradise was calling to us. Delachaise has an impressive wine list, of course it still does, and although they were out of the Gamay, I was just fine with a Chianti Classico (at a reasonable 11 bucks). The menu never was vegan friendly and it still isn't, what with even the fries made in duck fat, but that's OK I'll eat elsewhere. read more

I will say last night was the worst experience I ever had. My date and I came in and sat at the bar for a drink. It was a Friday night and it was very empty. We ordered our drinks and was ready to close our tab. It wasn't busy at all at the bar. We kindly asked the bartender "hey can we close out our tab?" She didn't look at us and 1 minute later she shouted "DUDE I HEARD YOU GIVE ME A FUCKING SECOND. YOU MUST BE FROM THE WESTBANK!"......... My date and i sat there in confusion. She was the biggest bitch ever. She was the Caucasian woman with brown hair probably in her late 30's. Once we pulled out a stack of money she started apologizing. No excuses to be a cunt. I arrived in New Orleans this afternoon and walked here for a drink and what ended up being dinner tonight. It's right by the streetcar line which was great for getting home when I was done. The bartenders were friendly and I decided to stick with Prosecco and their "house" glass was very good. I was eyeing the grilled cheese and tomato soup but thought it might be too hot so ordered the sliders instead. The sliders were good, the fries were okay. I stopped in for small plates and cocktails after work as it had been years since I'd been to The Delachaise. I love this place for its charm. There's a young, fresh vibe and the offerings are perfect for hanging and catching up with friends. My small party ordered the sliders, the steak board, and the mussels. The sliders were delicious. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and willing to help with menu questions. I had the lamb sliders, a daily special. The plate came with enough food for two meals--essentially two personal hoagies cut into quarters. My gf got the fries with two delectable sauces.
