Absolutely awful. After confirming reservation and selecting the car on their app, it took over an hour of waiting to get the car. When I mentioned that the app indicated that the car was ready for pick up, I was told the app doesn't work! We finally got the car, but as we got to the gate, we were told to return it and get another one because this one was due for service. We exchanged the car for another midsize within 10 minutes. An hour into our drive in the middle of nowhere, the Check Engine light went ON we managed to find a number for Dollar customer service. When we called, there was no option to speak to a CS representative. Drove the car for a week with the CE light on and returned it to the airport. I mentioned the CE light to the person at drop off. There was no reaction whatsoever. Spend the extra money and rent from a company that understands customer service. Dollar is not worth a penny. read more

I reserved online for Thrifty which is bow being operated by Dollar. Either way, the Dollar Rental is combined with Thrifty, same employees. The front desk check in, long wait, but no complaints. However, they advised that the wait for a car was 1 hr and 2 hrs for an SUV. So I switched from an SUV to a car. They said go downstairs and wait in line. So I did and there were two lines, one of the left and one on the right of the kiosk. I asked everyone what's the difference between the lines and no one knew. After waiting 30 minutes in the line on the right, which was moving faster than the line on the left, I finally asked the Kady I side the kiosk and she said you have to stich lines and go to the back as I was in the SUV line and not in the car line. After this literally half the folks in each line had to switch and got to the end of the line. They never communicated this, never made announcements and no signs. So much tiime was lost. So then I start over at the back if the car line but the SUV line while slow was moving twice as fast. It was like adding insult to injury. Then someone other renter asked the same question and the old African American male yelled at him for asking...wtf... From now on I will pay more to rent anything other than Thrifty/Dollar. read more

A terrible rental car experience on 11/23. When I explained to the representative regarding we have already have a primary car insurance to cover liability and cost. She pretended she did not get it and force me to buy can insurance through what they provided. Then, she assigned a smaller car than what we booked. She said all the car has been assigned; this is the only one I had right now. If you don't want it m, you can stop by couple hours later to try, we may or may not to have other cars. Overall, we had to pay extra insurance and pick up smaller car. I was too tired to fight for that due to my flight was delayed and had already exhausted. Rented a car here for the weekend. Had never rented a car in LAS before which surprised even me, on my arrival. Cars were very expensive for this trip so went through Dollar who seemed to have the best deal for a weekend special. Landed about 8:45pm and took the shuttle to the main car rental building which is pretty far, at least 10 minutes away. Walked to Dollar and they had no line which was refreshing because a couple other companies (Alamo etc) were out the door. I walked up and presented the lady my information and she found my car. She asked me all the usual questions, and asked if I wanted to upgrade to something else (a Jeep, I think?) for like $30 more a day. I said nah I'm already paying enough let's just go with the car I reserved. She said "because you have a compact now", that was lie #1. I still said no we're good, just need to get around the strip. Next she proceeded to tell me about gas and how it's so expensive out there ($5.50 she said) and should definitely prepay for gas, at first I said yeah but then I realized we'd only be using about 1/4 tank. So I said no thanks... But this was lie #2. Gas stations outside the airport ranged from about $4.85-5.55 so it was very easy to find some cheaper gas to top it off. Went to get the car in the garage and they're like, go take any one of those. They pointed to like 2-3 white full sized pickup trucks. I said oh well I know how to drive. I did a quick walk around the vehicle which was fine, but the staff didn't really inspect my car for damage before leaving which was a little disconcerting later because there was a big black scratch on the right front bumper I found later that was already there. Didn't want them to charge me for someone else's mistake, so the last day I buffed it right out with some white toothpaste and everything was fine after that. Topped off the gas to F and dropped this baby back off where I found it and we were good to go on my way... I would use LAS Dollar again in a pinch, if there were no other affordable options. The employee helping us was on their personal cell phone talking (maybe the person the other end could hear our information??) the whole time. 2. These clowns deserve 0 stars. They are rude, condescending, and lack empathy. I simply asked if it was possible to modify a reservation both from the in-person agent and customer service representative on the 1-800 line. Both of them were far from helpful and proceeded to allude to that I should have had the foresight to not modify my reservation. Travel plans change, travel companies should be accommodating, an answer of it's not possible to modify a reservation is unacceptable. After arriving at this location the agent couldn't speak or understand plain English. The agent attempted to up charge me for every option available even with me and my wife telling him no! We showed him our reservation and the amount we had paid online and the amount it showed for me to pay at pick up and he still couldn't understand. After about 30min of explaining that we didn't want anything extra we were told we had to select what he called the BASIC plan which added an additional $200+ to my rental. We were from out of town with a set deadline so we were kind of in a hurry. We signed the paperwork just to find out we were charged for rental insurance even though we showed him our insurance card and explained we had already contacted our insurance company. Long come to short we were told that once you sign the paperwork you are SOL and I believe they take advantage of people at the airport because what else are you going to do? I will never and would never recommend doing any business with such a sneaky dishonest company and I am not even going to mention the condition of the car we were given that's a whole other story. Got assisted by Damian and he was very was kind, patient, respectful, and organized with the step by step procedure for the rental. The whole process took about 25 mins, including the line. I have never personally rented from this company and after our most recent experience, never will. We flew in Columbus day weekend (might be part of the reason for bad experience), never thought much of it because in Hawaii most of the state has traded that holiday for another local state holiday. I guess its still a three day weekend for Mainland and a reason to flock to sin city for a bit... got in around 11pm expecting to have a car ready for us upon landing. My dad flies in (at least) quarterly and uses this company, among others, to do his local travels around the towns. This rental was booked way in advanced, prepaid for a group of 7. Our group, and others were left at the rental center with just a sign up that read "no cars available" and that was it. No employees, no explanation what so ever. We all had no choice but to call two Uber drivers to have us transported to the hotel to sort the rest of the trip out. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said well maybe because of the long weekend, cars that were expected back just never showed... so early AM on no sleep we're scrambling on a popular peer to peer car rental app and within a couple hours we were all set and driving off with a van that met our needs perfectly. Go figure this "small business" was a lot more organized than a well known nationwide company. So moving forward to the following day, running on fumes... we head back to the rental car facility and there is still nothing available for our group. Reminder that the entire length of our trip that this car is ALREADY PAID FOR! They done collected people's hard earned cash and given nothing in return! This goes across multiple other reviews that I am now going over. Along with other similar complaints from customer to customer SMDH. At this point I think they assure my dad that the next day there will be a car available to accommodate our family but he needs to pay yet again! I haven't asked to see if he was given money back for the initial rental prepay but reading others experience, I wouldn't hold my breath. Thank goodness for our modern day technology and advances with peer to peer ride share apps and others because without it we would be at the mercy of high priced taxis and rip off companies like this one. Horrible Experience! Rented a car at Dollar via Expedia. Bought insurance through Expedia so I don't have to purchase the insurance at the Dollar counter. When I got to the Dollar rental place in Las Vegas, there were only two workers with 30 customers in line! This is unacceptable! I waited in line for over an Hour! And when I got to the counter the lady says she couldn't find my Expedia reservation. No worries, I just went ahead and rented a mid-size car with insurance but did not pay for the gas option, I went with the option to come back with the car with a full tank of gas. Found my rental in the garage, started the car, and lo and behold, the gas tank was only ¾ full. I looked for the Dollar lady in the garage but she was nowhere to be found. No big deal, whats a couple of dollars to fill up the tank. When it was time to return the car, it went pretty smooth until I got the bill in a couple of days. Dollar charged me the wrong rate, and on top of that, Expedia also charged me for the car rental and their insurance. I was doubled charged and doubled insured. I am still fighting the double charge. Expedia says to call Dollar and Dollar says to call Expedia. Never again will I use Expedia and Dollar. What a Horrible Experience! read more

I actually had a terrific experience. TIP: get yourself a Dollar Express number so that you do not have to wait in that LOOOONNNNNGGGG line. I made reservation via AAA website and then called Dollar to provide them with the number. Upon arriving at the Dollar location, I was shocked how many ppl were in line. Then I saw this little monitor on the left hand side for Express member and went there... BAMMMM... my name and time of pick up of the car rental was there. No one was actually at that part of the counter but as soon as I stood there for about a minute, an agent came to help me. Asked for my license and then eventually the credit card I booked the car on. He found me in the system and within 5minutes, I was on my way to my rental car. I looked back and the line moved up ONE WHOLE PERSON! HINT: get yourself a Dollar Express number so that you do not have to wait in that LOOOONNNNNGGGG line. read more

Instead of one star they actually deserve a ZERO!!! My husband and I flew to Vegas for the 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately for us they were our only option on a last minute trip. After waiting in line at the counter we waited another 15 minutes in their boiling hot underground garage, listening to the girl talk about how she couldn't wait to get off and start drinking. She was pleasant, but this was a busy holiday weekend and she was the ONLY person working at check-in... I actually felt bad for her, and wished I could have bought her a drink! Not only was the wait in the heat unbearable, we soon noticed a HUGE line at the exit gate, which was because NO ONE was in the booth to let them out!!! We finally got our car, and what a surprise it was NOT the Jeep upgrade we'd paid for, but some crappy Nissan. We let it slide because by this time we just wanted to get the F#&@ out of there. The car was absolutely FILTHY, and so were ALL of the cars coming out! We weren't the only ones getting the wrong cars either, other customers were even angry and complaining, with good reason. It was pure and utter chaos, and like an assembly line--cars were being returned and then just sent right back out for re-renting! We literally had to pull to the side and wipe down the front windshield ourselves to see, and there was trash in the car! When we returned the car the girl was EXTREMELY RUDE. She never greeted us at all, and had a horrible scowl on her face. She rolled her eyes as we were pulling up, and it was so blatantly obvious we even laughed at the absurdity of it all. It was just par for the course. My husband still wished her a good day and a happy 4th, but we still no response at all she just skulked away as miserable as ever. Overall our experience was completely unpleasant. They are clearly understaffed and their employees are miserable, but too unprofessional or poorly trained to know that should NEVER be obvious to a customer. The nicest person was the girl in the booth (probably because her shift just started). She was friendly and even apologized for the wait. I can't imagine ANY customer that day had a good experience, it was awful in every way. We'd never rented from Dollar before and will NEVER do so again. To whom it may concern I will never use dollar for a car rental again. I wish I could give less than one star. I can not express how disappointed I am with the service of Dollar rental car. When we went to pick up our rental car at 11:30 pm, they were CLOSED and "sold out" see the picture which indicates they should have been open until midnight. We were now stuck taking an uber and wasting time we could have used for our vacation then we needed to take another uber back to the airport and lost out on tickets we had to an amusement park in Las Vegas. And the next day we picked up the car 12 HOURS later with no compensation for them being closed, or the uber we had to take, or getting the car a day later or the money we lost. With so many bad reviews from Dollar Rental Car, I kinda feel fortunate that my experience while renting a car from Dollar was pretty much okay. I basically booked a economy car on-line for $24.79 per day, and upon arriving in Las Vegas I was able to walk right up to the line & visit a customer service representative right away with no wait. After doing the paperwork, and buying the (LDW - Loss Damage Waiver) for my rental, I was off to the parking lot to pick up my car. As I headed off to the parking lot to pick up my rental car, a lot attendant told me I could pick any car from "Zone 5". When I got to "Zone 5" there were only two (2) cars left in Zone 5, and guess what? Both cars were already taken, so I thought to myself.............they told me to go to Zone 5 to get a car...........what car????? Lol! So I walked back to the Dollar parking lot booth to tell the lot attendant that there wasn't anymore cars. From there, the lot attendant tells me to go to "Zone 3" to get a car..........this worked out for me, as I actually got an upgraded car from Zone 3. Everything else from there went smoothly for my rental car............on issues here. Returning my rental car went smoothly too, as the processed me quickly, and all I had to do was just show the rental car clerk that I had purchased gas with a gas receipt when I returned my car. Overall, it was just an okay experience.................if I had anything bad to say about Dollar Rental Car, I would say that they are kinda expensive! Although I got a great rate on my rental car ($24.79 per day), with the insurance (LDW - at $80.64) they charged me, and I saw something they charged me on the bill called - "Premium Road Service" for an additional $8.99 per day (I don't remember asking for that). You add in the various taxes you have to pay at the airport, my grand total ended up at $243.90 for just 3 days use of a rental car. Not sure if that was a good deal, but on the bright side, I didn't have to wait very long in line to do the paperwork for my rental car, I got a car upgrade, & the car was basically brand new, and it was basically a no hassle rental experience.............that's Dollar for you! read more

But it was near useless as staff was looking for reasons to send us back inside to join the line of 20+ people. One employee watched the other work and claimed there was only one computer. She provided a list of problems with the reservation last required assistance inside. We persevered and kept updating the reservation online. Was there the last 4 days and when we picked up our rented car, we specifically told the guy we only wanted the basic insurance but he sneaked in their highest coverage. This review is for the Dollar Car Rental Woman that works downstairs at the kiosk helping everyone out. COQUESE was her name, she helped me out so much was very nice and she always complimented me when she saw me which is not her job but very much appreciated, it's my first time renting a car while my vehicle is in the shop, I was also able to return the car and get a different one with no problem I needed to adjust it for my kids cause one car was just to hot. She has great costumer service I would recommend speaking with her she gives her time to you and helps out as much as possible she handles working with a lot of people at once very well. I was also back for the second time to rent another car and had to replace it cause I made the mistake to get leather seats which my kids didn't like but Coquese directed me to a car with better seats and that has air vents for the back seats. Worst rental car experience in my life. On 4/2/23, I first waited 45 minutes in line to be processed. Then, I was charged for extra insurance that I said I didn't want (which I will be disputing with my cc company), and THEN waited another 60 minutes to get a car. On top of that, their customer service people are terrible and don't even look at you. Horrible place to rent a car. My friends and I ended up booking last minute due to losing a drivers license and needing to rebook with a different company (Dollar). The total was in the 600s including insurance and was all paid prior to our trip. At the counter we were told that the tank didn't need to be filled to full. After our trip Dollar ended up charging around $900, charging for insurance (again) and charging a fee for the tank not being full at drop-off when the clerk at the counter specifically said there was not a need to fill up the tank to full before drop off. My actual rental experience was OK. Car was nice and check out and return process are fairly simple. However, the clerk at the desk did not explain their insurance policy to me clearly. I booked through Travelocity and paid for insurance. My personal insurance is also quite good. However, the clerk gave me some foggy information on insurance. I would give this business no stars if I could. The people that work here are incompetent or liars. I reserved 'a Ford focus or similar' twice here. Both times they tried to give me a Chevy spark sized car. They are probably 2/3 the size of a Ford focus. Even less when the Ford focus they supply is a saloon car. Several employees argued adamantly that a Ford focus and a Ford fiesta are the same size. I have owned both a fiesta and a focus of the newest generation Ford cars and can tell you with 100% pcertainty that they are not the same size. read more

This is tough because 1. I don't know if I should blame Dollar or Expedia and 2. I hate leaving bad reviews. Long story short, I was initially going to leave a great review because the check in was easy (after waiting in line for the car because they only had 3 people working and for some reason EVERYONE was renting from Dollar instead of other agencies!) and the car was SO NICE. But I was overcharged. I was told I would only owe $102 at the counter and it ended up being $280. This was the amount I paid up front so I didn't question the receipt until I looked at my bank statement. I called and apparently the second round of $280 was for insurance that I didn't even know I got.... I paid $50 ahead of time for collision already and I thought that was all. I called then number from my email and basically the total I was charged ($570 when it was supposed to be $390) was accurate and there's nothing he can do..... super posed. I could have gotten a car cheaper elsewhere if I knew how much it was going to be UP FRONT. That being said, I'll still give 3 stars because everyone has been nice and I was probably a little rude over the phone but when you're charged almost $200 more than you were expecting, you'd probably be taken aback, as well. read more

After we returned the car, our final price was doubled because they slipped in LD insurance into the contract. We went back to the counter, and talk to the manager, see picture attached. Yes, the agents will automatically lead you to purchase their insurance but you have to stick to your guns and be firm and say no. My usual statement to them when they ask "are you going with our premium insurance policy or standard policy today"? My exact reply is "I am declining all insurance". They will give you the song and dance and that you are financially responsible if anything happens to the car and scare you by saying if the car is damage you will be charged each day its out of service. Well guess what? You in Vegas and you're here to gamble! Think about it....If you're staying on the strip, its only 2.5 miles away from airport, you're not going to spend too much time on the road. Most likely, you're just using the car to hop from one hotel to another and logging less than 40 miles for a 3 day rental. Plus check with your own insurance company to know whats covered on your rental car. Also check with your credit card company to see if they provide any additional coverage.
