I didn't feel like I was getting much of a discount. There's a sign that states no picture taking of merchandise, I get it, basically you're only saving $1 or 2, when if you bought it at the store the food would be further away from the expiration date. Taking pictures would show proof of that. In my picture you see a Rao's marinara sauce at Walmart for 6.98, it was 6.99 at Bargain Max. Again the people are nice! But the prices just aren't what I consider a bargain.

When we finally went to check out, the associate (a young man with his hair in twist or dreads) didn't greet us and immediately started scanning items without saying anything. My son is on the spectrum and likes to be involved, so he kept saying he wanted to scan the items himself. I asked the associate when they started scanning items for customers, and his response was short and not very friendly--he said it's "always been like that." His tone felt unwelcoming, especially given the situation. What made it more uncomfortable was that he stood very close, watching us as if we were going to steal something, even though there was no line. My son is very particular and likes to bag items himself for a sense of independence, and I wasn't going to interrupt that moment for him. To make things more confusing, once we left and got to the car, I noticed other customers going up to checkout--and he did not scan their items for them. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and unwelcoming. If you're going to have employees--especially younger staff--there should be better training on customer service, tone, and how to interact with families and children.
