This is copied from my google review because I feel this is important for the managers to read. Recently I was on a visit to Oregon to see family and I attended this very dollar tree. It was Wednesday night, and I must say, the cashier I spoke to was phenomenal. I was having a terrible day. This may be tmi but the visit was spurred on by my grandmothers death, and I was in a very bad mood on Wednesday night. I came in just to buy an energy drink. And just the energy that cashier gave. She was incredibly respectful, a little jokey. It just brought some light to my night that was goin so terribly. I went to a couple dollar trees and similar stores on my trip, but that was suprisingly the highlight. I didn't catch her name but it appeared she was the only cashier working. Please hire more employees like her, because even the smallest thing can make someone's night. 10/10, will come to the same location again next time I visit my family read more

Stopped in the other day and the store has gone downhill. Lots of empty space, regular products out of stock, For what it is, a $1.25 item store, my expectations are compatible, I'm not expecting Nordstrom level customer service or quality, but do expect products on the shelf. Large parking right in front of store makes it convenient if you are on this part of SE Powell. It is a sketchy neighborhood so that could be the reason why store is not as kept up. read more

This is a Dollar Tree in a challenging area. As we approached the store we noticed a window broken out and boarded. The sign in the door reads no bags or cans allowed. It suggest that they are challenged with the houseless issues. The store was pretty clean and relatively calm. The cashiers were older, friendly but a little nervous. Overall our experience was good amd certainly reflects a changing environment in southeast portland. read more

Edited: I called the store and spoke with the manager and she was incredibly helpful and nice and said she loved animals and would speak with him. A+ for management. -- While we walked in, someone at this store was yelling at a homeless youth who was in front of the store, telling him to effing get out of there. Then he kicked the youth's cat carrier hard. The youth said, "That's my cat! Why did you kick my cat?!" And the man just yelled again to get the eff out. This is incredibly bothersome. read more

OK - let's start this off by reminding ourselves that this is Dollar Tree, not some swanky uptown name brand Gucci-selling department store. Any expectation that this is more than the most discounted of discount stores is ridiculous and unwarranted. I've had issues with Dollar Tree stores in the past, generally with staffing. As this is my "local" store and I generally stop in first thing in the morning, those concerns are moot. The store probably only opens a few minutes before I get there and the staff is generally pleasant at that time. I've been here when the lines are longer and there's product strewn on the floors but those issues are within my expecations of this chain. I've seen MUCH worse at other locations. This one's fine. I was here a week ago and Rayanne was working the checkout and noticed my baby was asleep in the cart and I had a bag full of things, the line was starting to get long but she asked if I needed help carrying the bag to the car! She goes over and beyond for customers. What she did really made my day. Thank you! read more

There is an employee there who I believe is a supervisor that will not wear a mask despite the statewide mask mandate. And then also a cashier that does the same. And they will close the aisle down to one cashier so that you have no choice but to go through the line with the person who doesn't wear the mask. I try to keep my distance but the manager got right next to me. What they do is wear the mask below their chin exposing their respiratory system in an attempt to skirt the law. This is why people are dying of Covid. I've been there a couple of times and seen the supervisor doing this it's not a one time occurrence. Older white woman with long hair, tall. There are 99 cent stores, then there is the Dollar Tree. Quality is a weird factor for discount stores, but the Dollar Tree just continues to impress with it's wide array of generic goods all in the name of saving money. This Dollar Tree is clean and unlike it's sister locations, isn't located in the shady part of town. The parking is decent and is situated right next to the popular HK Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/h-k-cafe-portland-2), and tends to take on the weekend crowds whenever the brunch hour is over. Otherwise, the lines aren't as fierce and the inventory is typically well stoked. That's a win-win in the thrift world. When it comes to common household items and virtually all of the things we mentally value at less than $5 (think paper clips, batteries, greeting cards, soda, etc.), I believe the Dollar Tree has it covered. It's whenever we find things that seem beyond a $1 in value is when folks are impressed. A mini Christmas tree? A pack of air fresheners? How about a pots and pans? Word. To avoid the disappointment of *not* finding an item in the store, consider calling ahead of time. Saves the trouble of going all the way there to walk out empty handed ... or with a $1 deodorant. read more

LOVE!! Honestly I came here not expecting to buy anything and came out with items I actually need like a 7x7 cake pan , a baking spatula, a pack of make up removers, a pair of rubber gloves for cleaning, palmers' coconut oil chap stick spf 15, 2 packets of gum with 20 each, a loofer and some hair clips! This is such a great place to buy everyday items and they have a huge variety of all sorts -- from zip lock bags to detergent to Halloween costumes , they have everything here all for $1 even books! I am very impressed as this store is clean, well lit and has friendly workers in here. I had a good experience, I'm very please with my purchases and will be back some more for sure! read more

While looking at a High School Musical 2 hand sanitizer my mom turns to me and says, "This would be funny to get for Christian (one of her co-workers), I wonder how much it is?" Classic. Anyway, this place had a good selection of things. Don't be fooled, some of the stuff is more expensive than if you go to a regular store, but overall it's a good deal. I somehow spent almost $60 there. Oops. I actually needed all of it though. I did. Really. My favorite purchase was the V05 clarifying shampoo and conditioner. Name brand for a dollah? Score. I also got really cool, 'retro' cabinet liners. After you're done shopping your heart out at Dollar Tree, be sure to go next door to the discount food place. A friend insisted that I go here when I bought my last house. I needed everything...and got it all - including mops, shower curtains, deodorant, multi-paks of toothbrushes for Guests, eyeglasses - for a Dollar each. Stock varies somewhat. When I see the balsamic Vinegar I buy all I can for host gifts. Party Decorations and Greeting Cards are also $1. Large garden Pots are also a bargain at $1. You could probably delight a kid by letting them pick ANY Ten items for their own birthday. You might make them a better person by letting them buy for someone else's birthday. Caveats... Sometimes a plastic item (made in China) is defective, like the inflatable shower pillow I tried. Try to skip the junk - and only buy what you can USE - or what you NEED. FOOD/treats...read labels & avoid Fructose. It's no bargain if it gives you Diabetes. Cans of Salmon, for $1? Love that. Bring your own bags, as theirs are very cheap plastic, and may break, and are not all that reuseable. read more

Went to get helium in balloons I bought from this store (68th & Foster) and they denied filling the balloons. I waited on getting the balloons filled until a half hour before the party because in the past experiences I've had with helium-filled balloons, they don't last long.. who would think it would be such a pain to have balloons filled with some helium for a birthday party? Not unheard of!! Also, they have a ton of balloons already filled with helium and the cop-outs excuse for terrible customer service was: "helium is really hard to come by"..... I REALLY don't want to complain about the dollar store... But how people are treated as a customer can affect a person's entire day. The employees who "helped me" treated me as if I was a bother. When I asked the clerk if someone could help me, she seriously acted like I was a nuisance. Get some customer service skills. Please!!!!! I realize I should've gotten balloons sooner and even if you really couldn't give up helium so readily, treating me like I was a huge asshole for even asking really was upsetting. I shop at this place regularly.... I realize you guys probably deal with a lot of assholes. But I am really not one of those assholes, so please don't treat everyone who asks a question who looks under 30 years old like an asshole. I also want to say, and this is not dollar stores fault, that shitty customer service is rampant and it needs to change because I went to Fred Meyer on Foster and 82nd right after, because the one on Johnson Creek... There clerks have in the past GIVEN my son free balloons while we were there.... I figured they'd be a little more accommodating for balloons for a child's birthday party but no.... 2 clerks had to go on break and one called "someone" and I waited.... And waited... And decided I guess we didn't need balloons after all and I left. THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I SCRUB TOILETS FOR A LIVING.... WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE WHEN I TALK TO MY CLIENTS. Okay I've been here twice more now looking for something specific and I couldn't find it...so my initial impression of this Dollar Tree is a bit inflated. They don't have hot chocolate or baking cup liners!!! Those are things I've seen at other Dollar Trees, so I'm a little disappointed. This place is conveniently located and has a lot of what I need. It's hard to leave a review for a dollar store because you get what you get and can't expect a lot, much less nice customer service. I imagine their employees aren't treated very well by how they treat the customers. I always hear the employees either complaining about work or goofing around with each . They all seem miserable. I remember last winter when it was really cold and windy, I had noticed the checker looked really cold and uncomfortable. I told her she should really wear a sweater, and she told me she wasn't allowed to. She wasn't allowed to stay warm? One time I was in there when my son was 10 months old and had filled my cart with about 5 big bags of goodies. My son also had a balloon and I had spent over $100. It was raining and I was by myself, so when I went to leave I didn't Notice the sign saying you can't leave the store with the cart, especially since my sons balloon kept bopping me in the face. As I struggled to get my son and all my goods into my car by myself a customer came running out to me telling me that the cashier was screaming at me to not leave the store with the cart in front of the other 15 people in line. I hadn't heard her...and frankly didn't care. I saw her standing in the door way mean mugging me, while the nice customer said she would return my cart for me as she could see my hands were full. Apparently, the old haggard lady with crappy red hair that worked there was hard of seeing. She didn't offer to help me out to my car. She was screaming at me like she was my Mother. Full of hate...because I took the cart. Get a grip and some hormones lady! Not a big deal!! What was I supposed to do? Especially after spending that much. Did it look like I was going to steal the cart? You would have thought I ruined her day! The only reason they get two stars is because I notice there are a lot of special needs adults that shop here and I've seen a cashier be extra sweet to them. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I know I will begrudgingly have to go back. At least there is a drive through coffee place in their parking lot! When are they ever going to fill the other empty stores next to this place? It would be nice to make this strip of Foster look a little more alive and less ghetto. read more

My last dollar tree experience wasn't good. After a bike ride with two of my friends we ran out of water. We were almost back, but the day was hot and so were we. We go into dollar tree with four dollars. We get a Gatorade, la croix, and two bottles of water. We are ready to check out our four items, when the cashier says, "4.20$". What?! All around the store there are signs that read "Everything's one dollar" and now you're telling me we're twenty cents over? I told my friend that we could put back one bottle of water, but the guy behind us was nice enough to cover the twenty cents. Maybe it was a bottle deposit, but that's 10 cents, so why is this over four bucks? A few weeks later my sister went back in there with her friend, and had the same issue.However they didn't get water. Something is going on and I am not happy about our misleading dollar tree experience, where everything is NOT one dollar. -upset customer read more

Friends kidnapped me and took me to Portland for my birthday. We saw this Dollar Tree on our way out from dinner and decided we HAD to go in; simply because it looked as big as a stadium...It was quite possibly the most glorious Dollar Tree store. They sell everything you can think of at the of course, reasonable price of ONE DOLLA. They also had inside-out Junior Mints, which I decided are better than the regular ones. read more

Damn I love the Dollar Tree, and this is my Tree of choice. Perfection for cleaning supplies, greeting cards (gotta keep 'em on hand, because I am unable to remember dates, apparently) and gift wrap, picture frames, and all kinds of other crap...I mean, stuff I need. I just realized I could get balsamic vinegar here for a buck (yup, it comes in a plastic bottle), and scored this kick-ass garlic hot sauce for $.50! Also great for cat box liners which are priced at Freddies for like $4.95. For the same ones! I know! They do have bra and panty sets if you are built like a not-well-endowed teenager, and some delightful gift items ranging from cherub figurines to Jesus candles. Beware some of the food is a little sketch. Just say no to the icky jar pickles and stale cookie-type items. read more

This store is the epotomy of laziness in management.. This manager spends most of his time smoking out side.. While shelves are dirty and empty and floor is cluttered with boxes and trash.. Not even employees that are friendly. All the employees and managers do is scream across the store.. What a fricken shit hole. read more
