Zero star!!!! The manager of this store has a very bad attitude towards customers. I ordered through the website and went to pick it up at the store. After receiving an email notifying that the item was in stock at the store, I went to pick it up and met the Manager, he said it was the manager's lunch break, he would not accept me to pick up my item. I had to go home. The second time I went to pick up the item, the manager said they could not find my package, even though I showed the receipt, payment invoice and confirmation email, the manager told me to go home and would not handle my package! Oh my god, how could such a person be chosen to be the Manager of a Dollar Tree store, very rude and bad attitude towards customers. I went in today. There was a special needs person in the store who had a small accident and he was trying to ask them for a mop to clean it up themselves then I went to the other registered because the other lady called me a meanwhile I saw the assistant manager (Rosa ) laughing at the special-needs person. I am rating this store in the spirit of what it is. A dollar tree. Nothing more! This dollar tree rocks! They have a great selection of party decorations, balloons, wrapping, shipping supplies, random toys, and party favors. They even had a decent selection of fake flowers. This is a good store for crafts or people who are planning a party. I made goodie bags for my daughter's 11th birthday party with supplies I found here: Colored paper bags with ribbon handles, mini lip glosses, pretty soaps, bath puffs, hair bands, and glitter tissue paper. I just wrapped some pretty hair bands around the soap and stuck the lip gloss in the middle, put the bath puff on top, and wrapped them in the glitter tissue. My goodie bags were a hit! Yes- the people shopping here are ghetto fab- but that comes with the territory. I came here looking for a cheap plastic jar. I looked around the store for about 5-10 mins and could not find anything that met my standards. I am also someone that does not like to bother an employee unless it's absolutely necessary because I know they work hard enough through the day. But after a failed search, I asked Veronica for help. She did not hesitate to help me search for the right one. She brought me 3 or 4 different types to see if I liked them. Eventually after her doing a full search on the store she found the one that I was looking for on the top shelf of an aisle that I would have never checked on. The area is kind of ghetto, but inside they have a lot of things in there and its really good deals! I like coming here for the balloons because they're only a dollar and they have a variety. I came in expecting the worst! I needed sunscreen and cheap trash bags and this place was close to where I was going to be. The reviews were overall horrible and I prepared mentally to just run in and run out. To my surprise, the store looked clean and well organized. The displays were neatly stocked and it was easy to find what I was looking for...... and then some. The employees seemed pleasant. Even the cashier was all smiles with a pleasant greeting and he asked if I found everything ok and was fast and efficient. It seems as though they have read all those reviews and turned things around. At least for today. This location is not in the best area, but come on people, it's a Dollar Tree. I'm not comparing it to anything at a higher end just as I wouldn't compare McDs to Ruth Chris. We all know what we're in for in these lower end establishments. Yes, this Dollar Tree is ghetto, has a small parking lot and a fight between a hooker and a pimp could break out at any moment, but it's the closest Dollar Tree to Downtown San Jose and is great when you just need a quick in and out job that Walmart just can't provide. I was plesantly suprised to discover they have a generic brand of Sensodyne toothpaste for my sensitive gums - only for a $1! They also had those cute little cellophane baggies that you can put candy and give away as party favors, 25 for $1. Better watch out Walmart. No no no, don't go here. There was one clerk doing inventory who kept offering help. No shade but I'm pretty sure it was more to do with interacting with me than actually being customer service oriented. The store is super crowded and stuff is randomly shelved--like the different dish soap brands are polar opposites rather than beside each other. The worst of it is actually the customers who were generally rude, pushing carts into each other and cutting people in line. Some guy was stealing a beverage and basically this was a hot mess to be at so I would totally suggest going a little further to another location since there are other options. As for the franchise, all the basic offerings of the Dollar Tree inventory are here so perhaps you could get away with a quick trip. To the store manager/management, corporate & future customers. Today I walked into the store with two bags of decorative paper I meant to exchange. Note I had the items in my personal reusable bag. When I found what I wanted to exchange the items for, along other things I found I went to the cashier named Samira or Sanira (idk the receipt ink was low). Before she began to ring me up I told her if it was possible to exchange a couple items & she proceeded to talk to me in the rudest tone. Telling me I had to had told a cashier before I roamed around the store I was going to make an exchange. And even worse she said "for all I know you STOLE THIS". I really only come to this location if I really have to. Sadly, the dark parking lot makes you feel a bit unsafe when leaving and walking back to your car. While inside, it's hard to get any questions answered since they always seem to have barley any employees on the floor, they always have just one single cashier open, AND the size of it is a lot smaller than other dollar tree locations I've been to. Don't get me wrong, if you can find what you what at this location, then your fine. Most of the time when I come here looking for something I either get a blank stare when I ask for it, or I often get told to go to the location on Tully road. If I was able to take some more time out of my day to drive to the east side dollar tree location on Tully, I'd gladly do it. read more

In short, came in to purchase items. I needed a receipt, it was not given to me and so I asked for a receipt to be given to me and was met with attitude, prejudice and unprofessionalism. A woman by the name of Karen (assistant manager, who is Latina) informed me that she could not print a receipt until tomorrow. I informed her that I am from out of town and needed the receipt today. Following, a woman by the name of Lupe then told me, a black woman, that I paid with EBT. I was offended as she stereotyped me and refused to assist. Karen THEN began talking about me in Spanish, not knowing I speak Spanish, saying negative things about me. Her actual manager, Sergio, came out and attempted to diffuse the situation and was able to print out my receipt with no issues. Essentially, Karen is rude, condescending and needs to learn how to be a professional. Clearly no one has ever taught her how to professionalism. It's sad, she needs to learn and get her act together. Don't even understand how she's an assistant store manager. It's a joke. Lupe on the other hand, needs to be more aware and conscious. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! All right, so I can't just attribute my fondness for DT to a lifelong passion for dollar stores (esp since most aren't actually dollar stores... 'cuse me, wretched and proliferate $1+ stores. Isn't every place a $1+ store now that I think about it?) It's really that, amongst the unforgiving X-files lighting, storage room that seemed to encompass the entirety of the store and slightly dusty veneer on all the goods, there's a certain charm to the entire mix. My last check-in was fueled by a desperately feverish attempt to prep for my sister's wedding shower/wedding on a budget (yes, it was as tight as Mariah's pants on a hot day). Lo and behold, all the wonders of this Giving Tree were naught to be outdone. I picked up: - 24 classy glass cylindrical vases for-- you guessed it-- $24 bucks - A pack of 40 "gold" rings for the Taboo game for $1 - Spa goodies such as foot scrub, bath salts, body lotion for $1 each - A 24 pack of colorful tissue for $1 (as compared to $4.99 at a local joint) You get my drift... I mean, where else can you go to fully decorate a shower, buy favors and their stuffing, tchotchkes, a partridge and a pear tree for a buck each? And, in other news... put together a "So Sorry for Your Stomach" gift basket for $5? (Okay, so I decided against the dollar "pepto," stool softener and warming patches as a shower giveaway- who knew people were so humorless? I kid...!) The DT peeps and the customers are completely warm, helpful and jovial too. Bathroom Problem: This happened on May,21,2016 My son 8 years old needed to use the bathroom, the bathroom was locked. I asked an employee to give me the key to use the bathroom for my kid, the employee responded by saying a customer lost the key. I asked the manager and she responded the same like the employee. I asked if there was a copy so my kid can use the bathroom and she said "we don't have another copy". So, I asked an employee "how do the employees use the bathroom?" this dollar tree is fairly sketchy. not a great neighborhood, of course. but they take it to another level with the hot mess that is the unevenly paved parking lot chock full of trash. inside is carpeted, unlike the other dollar trees i usually visit. probably a bad idea, as there are years of stains on it. it's not very big, i guess that's why theyve decided to intersperse the aisles with boxes of overstock inventory, the top flaps hanging open sloppily. It's decidedly not wheelchair friendly due to that fact. i didn't dare to risk the bathroom. props for the metal (aka uncomfortable) bench behind the registers though. This is a pretty good place to buy stuff on the go. Its nice that they have a blockbuster kiosk there. I get to get some movie while I shop. The Blockbuster rep was really nice. He was in the middle of loading dvds and just ended it waited for me to finish getting my DVDs and started on it again. read more
