The Dollar Tree in Evergreen Village Square is officially open! It's grand opening was officially October 31st, 2019 according to one of the girls working the registers. This is controversial territory. I know lots of folks in the community were and are still against yet ANOTHER Dollar Tree opening up in the area. There was a neighborhood petition floating around online to stop the opening. With 2 other Dollar Trees within a few minutes' drive, why are they opening a new one in the Village Square of all places? Ain't nobody wanting more traffic or bad parking situations. People are also worried that a Dollar Tree opening up here will draw negative impressions regarding the nicer Evergreen area - making it "less nice" with the stigma that the Dollar Tree name seems to bring along. Honestly, I had hoped that a Trader Joe's or other nice store would open up in this (previously) vacant building that used to house Walgreens. But with no one else swooping in to pay rent, I suppose the building owners just wanted to give the building to whomever waved money. Anyway. The store is large, clean, and organized. Lots of holiday items are stocked. All the standard items you usually seek out are here. The arts and crafts section is actually pretty impressive. There's no refrigerated section, which I think is good because I don't think that would be catering to the population in Evergreen. I can see the local elementary, middle, and high school kids coming here to grab supplies for projects and school work. Parents with small children or families looking to save money on basic household goods may find the location convenient enough to walk to. Hopefully the store will maintain its tidy front and continue bringing in interesting, quality products for $1 in reputable exchange for settling into the Village Square.

IMHO Interesting…read moreplace. Finally got a chance to check it out after reading about it. I'd read that it is really cramped and unorganized. I found that there was enough room to move about and aisles were clear. Yes, product is stacked high but not dangerous to navigate. There was one gentleman working, and we said hello. He said if we had any questions, to just ask. We had no idea what to expect or what we were looking for. You really have to take the time to slowly walk around and look high and low. I suppose you can find great bargains if you know your prices and are willing to spend some time there. They had tons of bedding, kitchen appliances, light bulbs and fixtures, huge rugs, weighted blankets, shoes, Water Piks, name brand luggage, and a ton of clothing on racks and some piled to be picked through, plus a bunch of other stuff. I even found some packages of pepperoni, but they were just thrown on a shelf. I guess they're shelf stable... All of these items are close-outs or returned to Costco, or just out-of-season (like the Christmas trees and wrapping paper I found.) If you like going on a treasure hunt, this is your place! I'm sure I'll go back, one day...

I learned about Five Below several days ago when I saw someone with an adorable purse charm who…read moresaid she got it there. It was a fluffy little monster she made into a charm with a kilt pin, and I wanted to see if I could find one, so I stopped in there this morning. Five Below is like a dollar store, but most items are five dollars and below. They have lots of toys, craft supplies, beauty products, kids clothes, and candy. Their demographic is teens and tweens. It was crowded with families and kids when I arrived. The store had lots of Easter items near the entrance, as well as toys. I walked quickly around the store, checking out what they had to offer. I didn't see the fluffy monsters. The candy section was huge and they had a good selection. I picked up a few of the Ghirardelli dark chocolate bars I like to keep in the freezer and some Pocky Sticks. I meant to buy a bag of strawberry KitKats but got distracted and forgot. On the very last aisle I found some of the monsters I was looking for, but they didn't have the specific one I wanted. That's okay, I'll buy it on eBay. I'm not sure I'll be back to Five Below since it doesn't offer much for me.

We tried to ask for help but there were no employees around. I did get a few hand sanitizers. At the self checkout there was one employee that had no clue if they had clothing hangers. Why advertise items you don't have in the store? I ended up ordering some on Amazon.
