    Candy all over floor!
    John G.

This review is for the White Plains store. There is not much good I can say except that even though the cashiers are overwhelmed, many try their best to be pleasant. I have not experienced nasty ones, as some others have posted. The place is a dismal testament to poor management. Always dirty and cluttered with candy strewn all over the floor and nothing put on racks. Just dumped into bins. Floor is a filthy, sticky mess and I see the same open food on the floor even a week later. There are boxes of inventory stacked to the ceiling waiting to be shelved, but they remain day after day while the shelves in the corner photo are bare. Doesn't this chain ever inspect White Plains? It's embarrassing. They must know they're going out of business...everyone has given up...they don't even TRY to keep it sanitary.

This place is an ABSOLUTE mess. I've been at least 10 times and each time is worse than the next. This last time was the worst and I just left. Do yourself a favor and walk a block over to Happy Discount Center at 112 Mamaroneck. It's well stocked and above all...it's clean an organized. I refuse to go back to this Dollar Tree again. Whoever the owner is should be completely ashamed.

This Dollar tree in White Plains use to be my favorite place to go, but lately it becoming very unpleasant to shop at. First of all the employee are so unprofessional, which I could over look because I love the dollar tree products. What I can't over look is the ton of boxes stacked in the front of the store, I feel like how do you sell products that are in boxes and isn't this a fire hardzard. The thing that put the icing on the cake for me was that when you walk in the store it smells like dead mice and there are mice droppings everywhere thoughout the store this is totally disgusting, the department of health need to shut this place down until they get their act together.

For this type of store it is very good. Many assorted items. Different things coming in everyday. They just need more registers.

I also found a set of spoons in the same design/composition that I'd been trying to replace or get more of for ages. The store is organized fairly well, wasn't messy though a little cluttered and no issues shopping here in general. FYI, there is a $10 minimum if you want to pay by debit or credit card. It's located right behind their Synagogue and a few blocks off Mamaroneck Ave. I'll be straight up, heading down the few steps leading to Back Door seemed sketchy- but I moved past that because I knew there was light at the end of the tunnel. Back Door isn't huge- but to their defense, they have a good handle gathering items by sections. Upscale and lower-end items are all mixed in together, so you're going to have to do a little digging. I've been doing Thrift shopping for ages- but my thing is...there ain't nothing a good dry cleaners won't do. I'm usually on the hunt for something weird and sorting through the aisles to see if I find a treasure or two. Majority of times, I've doctored up my pieces, gotten rid of buttons to replace with funkier ones, replaced lamp shades, bought large wooden pieces of whatever, etc. Then again...there's always Pinterest. Right? This is the place to haggle- and by the way- it's only CA$H. I scored a Rainbow Cuff Bracelet for $3, a few other Bracelets. Plus a bright Red and Fuschia Clutch going for $10- and in the end, got it for $6. Nice experience, wouldn't hurt me to try it again.

But prices have gone up. It's literally not a dollar store anymore. They actually change the prices when they get to the cashier. Just a note to the dollar zone. They treat customers like cattle....they know me...i have told them i have had bowel surgery and have urgency which does not allow me to leave to go to the nearest store without a major accident...They responded that they would have me arrested. i told them to please call the cops and they could find me in the staff toilet. Since that time, they have accused me of "breaking things", leaving the BR a mess (trust me...the homeless would be offended by the filth). Oh, BTW, they never called the cops when i used their bathroom nor did they complain when i pulled deodorize, hand soap and paper towels from their shelves to stock their bathroom!! We still shop there for bargains...esp holiday items...but i am as nasty to them as they are to me and others...getting yelled at is normal for them...I remind them we are not in the streets of Calcutta and deoderant and manners are routine in our neck of the woods!! Why still shop there, you ask? Well, my shopping has decreased by at least 50% and i am very clear what i am there for and take NONE of their crap...btw, i can honestly say at least 5 of my friends feel exactly the same way...basically, we use them when it is convenient for us and we dont feel like paying $5.95 for a BD card.....but they manageed to alienate most of the neighborhood! Hope they read this and spend a. minute or two examining their behavior, Oh ...you should note that when they first opened, they were 'normal' and didnt look like they were running a Nazi camp...they really keep getting worse and worse! I honestly don't understand how anybody walks into a store these days to make a purchase? Must be the baby boomer market holding on for dear life. I haven't purchased a "wearable item" from a physical store...in about 17 years. However, my wife convinced me to try The Rack. I was pleasantly surprised. She went her way, I went my way, we met in the middle after 2 hours. The store was crowded and the customers were carelessly shoving unwanted items anywhere. Think Fordham Road meets the Westchester Mall. It's an eclectic mix. The employees, were diligent in trying to keep things in order. I'd be dropping F bombs at these customers. Pigs. I was also pleasantly surprised that an employee approached my wife and I, as we struggled to carry all of our finds, and brought us a cart to make it easier. Really? Wow! Excellent service. I wish I knew her name. Dare I say this...I'll be back! Loved everything we purchased and we saved a bunch of money on designer duds. I'd give 5 stars however...there was an employee drunk in the ladies shoe section. I felt bad for her but she was wasted. Smelled like a bar and kept asking if we needed help. Very nice but confused. At least she wasn't an angry drunk. Still, shouldn't be drinking while working...not a good optic. Had a great experience and will be back each season.
