Depends on what's important to you. I go here specifically for aluminum pans and containers, as well as the stuff that makes the flames that go underneath chafing dishes. I don't even know who else sells them, I've been getting them from this store for so long. When I'm there, I may find some other things that I can use. For instance, today I went in for 2 aluminum pans, but also walked out with a container of hand sanitizer, a box with compartments to prepare daily vitamins, a phone charging wire and a package of sponges for polishing silver. Total bill: $6.53, including sales tax. When needed, it's a great place for wrapping paper & bows and all kinds of cheap party supplies. There are all kinds of things you can get that actually cost $1. Be careful with the food, it may have an expired date. Most of the items are not national brand names. I'm picky about that when it comes to toiletries, so I never get any there. But it's worth a look-see to decide whether any of the myriad of things they carry are bargains for you. If you're looking for good customer service, a very clean store or if you're in a rush, this isn't the place for you. People who require good customer service should to a retail store that gets higher prices (to pay better clerks) for whatever you might get here for $1. The people are beyond rude (I usually ask other customers when I'm trying to find something) and there is no returning anything. Make sure it is what you want before you check out. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this store. The female manager has consistently been rude during our visits. We have been here many times, and each time she has had a poor attitude toward customers. From what we observed, she often speaks down to people who do not speak English, which is disrespectful and unprofessional. Customer service should be respectful and welcoming to everyone, regardless of the language they speak. I hope management addresses this issue and improves the way customers are treated. read more

I just got out of the dollar store. It's Sunday, November 23rd. I asked them to fill up three balloons for me for school. It clearly says it's $2.49 per balloon and the owner charged me 18 bucks. The cashier that I had was a really nice man and I think he felt bad that was too afraid to ask the owner for a change in price. Normally, this place is my go to thing for everything. But prices have gone up. It's literally not a dollar store anymore. They actually change the prices when they get to the cashier. Just a note to the dollar zone. I don't mind paying more for something, but I just wanted to let you know the stickers that you put on your items do not come off so it's hard to give them as a gift. read more

They are ridiculous....they accept NO exchanges,, even with a receipt. Everything is now $1.19. (wouldnt $1.20 be easier) The biggest problem is the staff...they are a large Indian family who yell across the store all the time...any time you ask where something is (since they move items constantly), they act as if you are asking for their first born child! They treat customers like cattle....they know me...i have told them i have had bowel surgery and have urgency which does not allow me to leave to go to the nearest store without a major accident...They responded that they would have me arrested. i told them to please call the cops and they could find me in the staff toilet. Since that time, they have accused me of "breaking things", leaving the BR a mess (trust me...the homeless would be offended by the filth). Oh, BTW, they never called the cops when i used their bathroom nor did they complain when i pulled deodorize, hand soap and paper towels from their shelves to stock their bathroom!! We still shop there for bargains...esp holiday items...but i am as nasty to them as they are to me and others...getting yelled at is normal for them...I remind them we are not in the streets of Calcutta and deoderant and manners are routine in our neck of the woods!! Why still shop there, you ask? Well, my shopping has decreased by at least 50% and i am very clear what i am there for and take NONE of their crap...btw, i can honestly say at least 5 of my friends feel exactly the same way...basically, we use them when it is convenient for us and we dont feel like paying $5.95 for a BD card.....but they manageed to alienate most of the neighborhood! I wish I can give this place zero stars. Not only is it dirty and unorganized with boxes everywhere the "so called owner" is the rudest woman I have ever encountered in a business setting in my life. She screamed at my 10 year old son for no apparent reason. My son picked up a plastic candy cane Christmas decoration out of a box on display. He was showing it to me so I can purchase it, when this woman came out of nowhere accusing him or breaking it and yelling at him to pay for it. This is no way to treat former long term customers of your organization. This woman then went thru the store continuing to berate and yell at customers for just shopping. This store has a huge selection of merchandise at VERY reasonable prices. It amazes me how some of the reviews trash talk this store about the prices going up from $1.00 to $1.19 as if the store was the culprit of inflation. You can blame Joe B and Kamala H for the inflation. Stores have to make a profit and keep the lights on and pay their employees. They carry many name brand items for MUCH lower prices than supermarkets or even Walmart. Some items are closeouts so if you see a particular item you like grab it because they may not have it in stock again. Amazing selection of containers, kitchen items, cleaning products, etc. Some reviews also complain about the condition of the store. Well you are not shopping here for an 'experience'. This is a discount store where you save a lot of money - the employees are working very hard with a huge line of customers complaining about first world problems and expecting all of this customer service when some of them are extremely rude and demanding. Go shop in the mall if you want high level customer service and pay the prices there for it. This location does have some good products for decoration for holidays or if you need some stuff for parties. BUT the people who work there are so rude. I was trying to get some stuff out of my shopping cart and my 2 year daughter was standing next to me. This lady in a pink flowery dress who works there bumped into her and said move. I agree with a lot of what was said before my review. Customer service could use some help. Lines could be shorter. Place could be cleaner. However, for a true dollar store (meaning literally everything is $1), it is a great spot and works for me. They have some seriously good finds in here. this dollar discount store is ok but its not close to my fave dollar tree but if you need some empty cups , plastic plates or utensils or some other last minute stuff for the home then it will do . i am a bit shocked that its still open for biz after 15 years or so. bene bene restaurant was here before they left and they had to move down at the near end of the strip mall to make room for 5 guys burgers . check the dates for food items as some stuff is expired or near the expiration date. i agree with some reviews about the rudeness of the owner or manager but the workers are nice with customers . a few birthday balloons and a birthday card is good enough for me on a thursday night before grabbing some dinner nearby. not as much stuff as dollar tree but its ok but i am surprised they are still around . read more

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I'll never go again. Went to exchange a wrong-size frame: had original receipt; packaging was unopened and intact: I just needed a smaller one. The boss: a young Indian woman (trying to impress customers of her power and position by yelling at employees the whole time I was there), interrupted the (older Indian) woman who was about to do my exchange. The boss, from another register, yelled over that they do not return frames. When I explained it was just an exchange for size she AGAIN YELLED the same thing. Embarrassed and angry, I left, but was approached by two women who saw the incident: they said they'd never go there again after seeing what happened and hoped I wouldn't, either. This store is great for party supplies and special occasion balloons. They have a large supply of party plates, party napkins and tableware for birthdays, graduations and baby and bridal showers. The only item I would not recommend are the plastic tablecloths. The tablecloths are paper thin, are see through and tear easily. They have a large selection of helium balloons for $1.00 each which are a bargain compared to other party supply stores. read more

This is store has great finds for a teacher trying to find things for her classroom and students. As far as customer service they are the worst !!! I would rather pay double the price in another store than to ever spend my money in this dump again. I went in yesterday to buy some supplies for my classroom and students. I spent 50 dollars and the older lady that was ringing me up put everything in one bag.I asked for another bag because the one she gave me began to rip she then looked around and put a bag inside of the bag she already gave me. Another cashier that I assume was the manager came over and emptied the contents of my bag out on the counter and recounted everything. She then procceded to make comments about the fact that I asked for another bag and was very rude. In total including my purchases and my Mother's purchases we spent about 100 dollars. It's CRAZY to think that 100 dollars worth of goods will fit into one bag. In hindsight we should have just returned everything. I work too hard for my money to be disrespected over asking for a plastic bag! The prices are great if you are willing to deal with a rude bitch who is stingy with plastic bags. I wanted to give this store a better rating based on the type of things you can find there - they often have items you won't see in other stores, but they are shady with customers and I have a serious issue with that. To be specific, they are charging a blanket 9% tax on purchases when NY sales tax is .0875. At a glance, this does not seem like a big thing, but the scheme starts adding up once you spend more than $3.00. And many people spend $20-$30 or more in a single visit. The store collects 9% from you, but they are only going to pay the state back 0.875%, which means they are keeping a lot of extra money. Tax free. Did you see the movie Office Space starring Jennifer Aniston? Some computer geeks figured out a way to steal fractions of a penny per transaction and ended up with a check for over $300K. This store is doing the same thing. They only clip a few cents from you, but when you add it up over time and factor in the hundreds of people who shop there daily, those few cents per transaction translate into many thousands of dollars annually. And the merchant is not going to report that extra income to the NY State Dept of Taxation. I brought this to the attention of the manager several times and demanded my correct change; they've claimed it's a cash register mistake but still keep doing it. I have the register receipts to prove what I'm saying (conveniently for the merchant, the receipts never show the actual tax percentage taken, but the calculator on your smart phone will certainly reveal it). I've grown tired of asking for my missing nickel (or dime or whatever) and just stopped shopping there. If a few cents don't matter to you, don't bother checking your receipt when you shop at this store. If however, you're like me and every penny counts in this volatile economy, you might want to determine on your own just how much tax you should be paying this store and how many cents they actually owe you. And get your rightful change. Hopefully this review will motivate customers to dispute the policy in store and force the merchant to stop the BS. read more

WE SHOULD BOYCOTT THIS STORE,! This place is the WORST place to shop . . The store's policy is no returns on electronics not even to exchange the item for one that works! I bought electronic item which was a flashlight which only cost a dollar. It's not the principal for the dollar it's the fact that it only worked for one day. I replaced batteries and the items still did not work. I called the store and spoke to the manager and she said her policy is NO EXCHANGES, NO REFUNDS on electronic items once you buy it you're stuck with it. weather it works or not! I was horrified I said it's only a dollar. i want an item that works. i paid for a item that should work ... I SHOULD NOT GET STUCK WITH YOUR DEFECTIVE MECHANDISE.. we all know that with paying a dollar for a flashlight there's still a tremendous profit made by the owner. It's very unfortunate that this is there policy. I don't foresee this business having a long life expectancy. Especially with supply and demand there are plenty of $1 stores that stand behind their product just to make the customer happy. This is by far one of my favorite dollar stores. I go in for one thing and leave with a full cart full of stuff EVERY TIME.
