I came here this morning and ordered a oat milk cinnamon latte. The place was busy, but understandable since it's near the magnificent mile. I wouldn't come here to study, the seating is all bar style. There's a nice living room area with a couch that you can sit and chit chat with a friend. I do like the ambiance of the cafe, the space is a more of take time to pause and enjoy your coffee. My cinnamon latte came out great. I loved the touch of cinnamon and the oat milk flavor. I wandered into this eclectic little coffee shop and was glad I did. They had interesting in built-in machinery and a long line for their products. I ordered a chai latte and a regular American coffee. Both were outstanding and about the same price at Starbucks. Well worth the wait and well serviced shop. Stopped by this Dollop which I have visited many times throughout the years prior to the company reorganizing. Matter of fact I was at the opening of this one many years ago. It's one of the smaller spaces. Stopped by this afternoon for coffee and walnut banana muffin. Everthing good and fresh. Persons working counter very welcoming and friendly. Although my husband was not a fan of the floral decor, I loved this place! (I happen to love flowers...) Their espresso is top notch, and milk steamed very well. Baristas are well-trained, and accommodating. I appreciate that they leave the lids off your drink initially to allow you to appreciate the latte art. If you're not a coffee person, they also had a decent selection of other chilled drinks and local snack foods. Cute place! read more

This place is tucked in the corner of an apartment complex. I love studying here during the week because it's never to loud but also has a nice buzz/ atmosphere. There is a good mix of people who live in the neighborhood and northwestern medicine crowd. I especially like studying here because there is lots of natural sunlight and computer outlets. They have these huge floor to ceiling windows facing the street, which provides a lot of light and is great for people watching. I also love taking out of town guests here for a quick drink before or after exploring the city. They also have delicious baked good like homemade biscuits with jam. If you are studying for a few hours I like that they have more substantial for options like sandwiches. Staff is always super friendly and chill. Coffee is smooth and delicious. When I'm not in the mood for coffee their white peach tea is always good. I will say their drinks are expensive given the size. A small coffee is much smaller than typical small size. There are a lot of coffee options in this neighborhood, but it's definitely the most unique. read more

The white male Barista with a goatee was very rude. Didn't seem to know how to use words. Only responded with grunts and nods. I asked him do they make flavored lattes, he just brusquely tapped at this small sign on the glass listing the flavors. I'm sorry I didn't see it; He could've answered nicely. When he called out my drink, he just said "iced latte," when I ordered an iced lavender latte with oat milk. Those are very different drinks; how was I supposed to know it was mine? Again, he responded to my question with a nod. No thank you or anything. I noticed he was super friendly with a white man who came in after me though. He asked him how his day is going, and even told him, "have a good day" at the end of the transaction! Imagine that! He knows how to use his words and provide actual friendly service; I wouldn't have known otherwise. Lol. About a block or two away from the lake and a few more blocks from the mall, Dollop Coffee Bar has it all (I'm really proud of that rhyme). The bar itself is modern and designed hella well. You order at the counter and can then sit at the bar along the wall to muse as you stare at the water, or you can go a little deeper in and lounge in a few awesome armchairs/sofas as you watch TV, read magazines, or do work. As I was on vacation in Chicago (and I didn't really need extra energy -- just warmth because the wind outside is so so cold), I decided to break the black coffee norm and got a dirty chai (or a chai latte, I really can't remember). It took around 5 minutes to make (there was only one guy making drinks for 4 or 5 customers), and it was hella delicious. Smooth and creamy, warm to the bones. Had the worst breakfast sandwich. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese on multigrain. For starters, they gave me 1 piece of bacon, the eggs were square shaped, so it was more toast than egg and they did not add cheese. They charged almost $7 for that sandwich. Not to self, never get food from here again. Update response to owner: Nate, don't offer if you can't accommodate. I saw it was an option to get it on multigrain bread, so I did. Dollop is a small coffee bar attached to an apartment building, with some seating by the window and a large patio. The backdrop to the coffee bar is a bright turquoise tiled wall, giving a splash of colour accent. As I searched for a good breakfast option on their menu, I spotted the biscuit sandwiches on the menu. How could I say no? I got a latte and a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit sandwich. Surprisingly, the sandwich was ready before the latte. I was hungry, so I started eating before my coffee was done. The biscuit was buttery and nicely toasted, and the egg and cheese completed the sandwich. My latte was just ok. It's an interesting set up as there is way more seating outdoors than indoors. I would return for the other breakfast sandwiches, but not for the coffee. read more

My friend and I we're trying to find something nearby and wheelchaur accessible to eat and we found this cute cafe. I think it's a local franchise and menu size was pretty small. I got a vegetarian sandwich and it's decent but a little expensive for it's proportion and the ingredients it have. Service was amazing though but I'm not sure we will come back. read more

Loved this place. I got the honey cinnamon latte and was pleased to see they use real honey and real cinnamon instead of a syrup. The end result did not disappoint- it reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch. My husband had a black coffee and it was smooth and tasty as well. The TV didn't bother us- when we were there it was muted and there's plenty of space to sit at the large picture windows and look out on the street. A couple tips: their small is an 8 oz, and if you want to use the restroom, grab the key from the front counter. read more

sadly, quite disappointed. The first time I came here everything was fine. My latte was quite good. Sandwich, satisfactory. This morning I went: it wasn't busy, so no excuses, I ordered a sandwich and latte. First, the sandwich was AWFUL. The eggs were stone cold. I couldn't even eat it. It was also terribly unappetizing to look at. Second, and this is being a bit bitchy, but they didn't give me a latte. It was a cappuccino. They are a specialty coffee shop, they should know better. It was also poorly made. I would not come here again and recommend you save money and go to a normal coffee chain with quality control. read more

Great if it is the closest coffee shop to home. Otherwise, pretty ordinary. They make excellent coffee. Their food offering is lame, in part because of their signage. They have savory pies, but none on display and none listed on their menu. You have to ask what they have available, which others stand in line behind you waiting to order. Poor system. I figured out that you can get sausage with the biscuit, not because it was clear on the sign but because I asked. Why they melted cheese all over it, without telling me, without saying it on the menu, and without me wanting it, I don't know. Nice outside seating, but not much of it. read more

I've had Dollop before at a different location and maybe I just ordered the wrong drink but my seasonal pumpkin spice latte had absolutely no taste to it. There was no sign of pumpkin and not even much of a coffee flavor which was disappointing. As for the service it was pretty slow even though there were 3 people working behind the counter and there were barely any customers. I wasn't too impressed with my visit here but it is conveniently located a few minutes from the John Hancock and Water Tower mall. read more
