Brunette cashier=bully :( ADVICE AND DIRECTIONS for those coming to pick up an order- don't ask the employees any questions LOL. Here's the layout: online pickup area is at the back-left, the fitting rooms at the back-center, and cash register at the back-right. You can try on your online order in the fitting rooms, and complete any returns (for store credit unfortunately) at the cash register on the same day! Also there is no parking lot, but metered parking along the street. Be prepared to walk a couple blocks. Here's what happened: I don't normally write reviews but I had a terrible experience with my in-store pickup which left me feeling very sad and embarrassed... After receiving my box, I asked to try on my items and was told to go to the fitting room. I asked the woman (dark-haired white-passing/Hispanic(?)) at the front desk where to go. She saw that I was struggling to carry my box, and told me that the fitting rooms were upstairs... I didn't catch that she was poking fun at me, so I went upstairs and was super confused and flustered. Needless to say I asked around and a different employee sent me to the right place. Another male employee was much kinder and complimented a lot of the stuff I was trying on/deciding to keep. It wasn't until I walked past the desk on my way out that I saw the cashier smirking at me, and realized she gave me the wrong directions on purpose. To clarify, I very genuinely do not think I did anything to bring this on. I was dressed normally and was friendly when I approached the desk... It was just close to closing hours, there were a lot of people in the store, and the cashier was just 'over it' by the time I asked her where the fitting rooms were (and yes, maybe it was a dumb question considering the rooms are right by the register, but I don't think I deserved to be tricked). I had a few great interactions with their customer service. Years ago I ordered few things and had to ship back some. I never tracked it back, just forgot about it. And then, really long time after I wanted to order something for my daughter from them and remembered about the return I made. I thought it's probably lost, cuz I have zero record of it. But I gave it a try and called their customer service. They found my return by my email address and resent me my gift card. I was able to shop with that credit! Recently I was shopping with them again for Christmas for my kids and had to send back some things and I change sizes. Their return/exchange system is so easy and convenient! Just select on their website what you want to return and what to exchange, print shipping label for free and drop at any UPS. As soon as you drop it off, you get email with your store credit. Super convenient. Got all my exchanges before Christmas. And one top still didn't fit my daughter and she decided she doesn't want to keep it. I got busy and didn't return it on time. Then stopped by the store when was in Hollywood and they still took it (as an exception, but with no problems). I just love everything about them. This store is a mess and the customer service is just completely awful. I ordered for pick up which said online it would be ready the next day and I've now gone 3 times on 3 different days (driving an hour from my house each time) and every time they tell me the order has not even been shipped yet, regardless of me having emails saying otherwise. The "manager" was rude to me on multiple occasions, the first day I had just walked in and I asked her where to go for pick up and she said "ITS OVER THERE I SAID THAT THREE TIMES ALEADY" (I had literally just walked in and obviously wasn't there when she said it before) and the next time I saw her she told me it was my fault that I didn't have my order yet because I should've ordered my clothes a month in advance like everyone else. She's a nasty person and should not be in charge. Also don't even bother calling them their phone doesn't work. It's the day before Halloween and I will not be getting my costume in time despite ordering it a week earlier and I can say goodbye to the $300 I spent for it! This business may be your onestop shop for festivals and BM but buyers beware. I bought boots from the store, I came home the buckles were missing. By that time I couldn't go back because it was late and I had a flight to catch the next day to BM. My first day there my boots ripped within five hours. I wasn't climbing a mountain I was simply walking on a flat surface, there should have been no reason for these boots to fall apart. I had to wear my friends boots the rest of week and she is a 8 and I am 8-1/2 or 9 in boots, so you can see how much pain I was in for the entire week I was there. I come home thinking maybe Dolls Kill will just give me store credit as i am familiar with their return policy. When I addressed this I just had some named hilary that they can only offer 30% credit.....I was appaled and so they handed over the case to a supervisor. After some texts and emails a supervisor by the name of James jumped in and his best response for the 98 dollar boots without tax was - "Hi XXX, My name is James, I'm a supervisor here to help assist you further. Our policy is to not compensate on worn items as we're not able to tell if the item was defective or became damaged with use. As a courtesy, I'd like to drop a 30% credit for the item into your Dolls Kill account. Let me know how that sounds and I can drop it in there ASAP. Store credit never expires and can be used to purchase anything on our site. If you could send over your order # that would be super helpful or the receipt if possible. " "as a courtesy" like they are going out of their way to do me a favor and give me 30%?!?! thats all I get for one week of destroying my feet and wasting money on broken boots. All they do is advertise burning man even though it's against the BM principles. Do not I repeat DO NOT buy any costumes from Dolls Kill period. "We don't accept returns on Halloween costumes after October 23" I've been back and forth numerous times with associates that the 135 dollars worth of three different costumes DO NOT FIT. The material is not accurately described I'm a medium the sizes I got were between a x small- small. The way they were designed is inaccurate. Here's what I got, Venomous Vixen spider costume. (Far too short the corset part is at least a extra small and inaccurately measured for size. So it did not fit. My Milkshake costumes set Once again, I put this on couldn't close the back up fully. Another "medium" sized costume. Pinwheel Fantasy Jester Costume. I loved the concept this one was terribly itchy and didn't deserve the 32 dollars I paid for it. For some reason it just looked "Frumpy and cheap." The only thing I'm able to return is a dress for 15 dollars I'm never shopping with Dolls Kill again. This seems more like a scam gimmick than anything else how was I supposed to know that nothing was gonna work out?. I expected for the things to fit my size not be itchy or overall disappointing. Oh my god what an embarrassing experience. And I don't mean because of something I did, but because of how transparent and cringey the entire facade of the store is. I went on a Monday early afternoon. Firstly, you tell the woman in front that you're going in, and they let you in ~through a velvet rope~ LMAO. Please. They try to make it have a "club" aesthetic which is just embarrassing. I'm here on a Monday at 2pm. I'm trying to shop. Spare me the theatrics of ~letting me in through a velvet rope~ oh my god. So I'm shopping and I pick some stuff, then go to try them on. They inform me you have to HAVE A RESERVATION to try anything on. Mind you, the store was empty besides me and one other person, and the dressing rooms were completely empty. Only after they found out that I'm an "influencer" (and I use the term loosely because ew) they let me go back ~without a reservation~. GAG ME. The only people who run a store like this and try to make it have a "club vibe" are 14 year olds who just watched the OG gossip girl or adults with a serious inferiority complex who have never gone to therapy. I suspect the latter. It's 2021. We don't act like that. It's embarrassing. It's transparent, they're trying to compensate for never getting into a club I guess, and like I said, it's embarrassing. The employees I'm sure we're just doing their job and they themselves weren't pretentious, but my god the owners of the brand and/or the people who actually run this store are people I certainly would never wanna be around. This store screams "look at me!!! I can totally get into clubs!!! I promise". Smh. I give it two stars instead of one simply because I like some of the clothing. If this storefront were different/run differently and not so pretentious in the most cringey way possible, cool. I'd go there regularly. Being on the East Coast, I shop online. Today I placed an order before noon for approx. $100. I can back to my desk about an hour later and looked at the website again and everything I had just bought was 50% off. I checked my order status and nothing had been shipped. I immediately reached out to customer service to see if could either get the pricing adjusted or cancel the original order so I could reorder and was told basically "tough luck" and to sign up for email sale alerts (I already am). I was then told about the return policy in agonizing detail like I was going to try and scam them. Such bad business practices. I literally placed my order and called them about it within the space of 60-90 minutes - not 60 days or 6 days or even 6 hours! I have a gift card for $130 that I would rather throw away then spend another dollar here. A 10 minute wait for the dressing rooms. But there is an upstairs area where the sale items are located that is not ADA compliant. The vibe is Hot Topic circa early 1990's complete with a Urban Outfitters circa 1997 loft feel mixed with H&M's iconic NYNY location that feels all like a huge Meat Packing Paradiso in the middle of of Urban Muckery. Remember, always when a store starts online it's (correct. me if you found otherwise anywhere and I mean anywhere) impossible to find better deals then their online counterparts...Free People is a great example of a store so geared to the customer experience that one doesn't tend to worry about what may be less expensive online. You are paying the salary of the Kova Angeleno Residence who all came here equipped with their own hosts of in-store experiences that (not so much online consumerism) and it's something amazing to see in a sea of the sea which stores only closed and internet marketplace is the only shopping experience HAR many people have today. This is a super trend seeking and trend hoping hot spot for young adults and teens or even tweens. With the sales team being as closely in tune with the fabric that makes up today's Americana of the youth, and this location being next to the world famous Canters Deli you can't but hope for this millennium minded collective of fashionable people to win continuing their same status as an online power house with the select # of affiliates like the trolls and Delia's to persevere. read more
