You will need to shut down your brain for this one. Or just disassociate, like I did. I feel like you're either all in on Dolly Parton's Stampede, which most everyone is, because why would you pay almost $75 per ticket if you weren't? So you're either all in, or you're like my grumpy self: wondering when you can leave, and wondering why your soup is being poured into your bowl from a foil-lined Tupperware container like you're serving time in a penitentiary. This show is bananas. I had no idea what was going on at any point. Don't ask me about the plot. All I know is that there were bison, and people riding horses, and people waving flags, and at some point there was a big boom and some flashing lights. It's a show, for sure. It's something to watch while you eat. The food is fine. You get a lot of it! This is a prix fixe menu, so I don't believe you can pick what you want. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit, basically. You get a whole game hen, for crying out loud. Contrary to what some people think, you are not forced to eat with your hands here. You are provided with forks and spoons. But the game hen is something that you can tuck into with your hands, if you wanted to. You also get soup (poured from the aforementioned foil-lined Tupperware pitcher), a biscuit, mashed potatoes, pulled pork, corn on the cob, and a dessert, which was some sort of vanilla and chocolate coconut cake. It's a lot of food. A beverage is included with the meal, but if you want an alcoholic beverage, then that's a separate charge. I got a glass of red wine, because there was no way that I was going through this experience completely sober. I am not the audience for Dolly Parton's Stampede, but I'm glad I visited. Waited in the heat until doors opened at 4:45, then went inside and ushered upstairs, where we were corralled into a roped area. At 5:40 the M.C. And his sidekick came to sign autographs. No true special treatment. Only plus was guaranteed front row seats. Food was generally ok. Chicken was decent, the pork was really good. The corn was nasty and the soup bland. As a slow eater I wasn't able to finish my main before dessert came. Got to try both. One bite was enough. The show was decent. Tough to watch at times because of the servers. Doc made reservations for the 6 pm VIP show. Dolly is no where to be seen here, at least not tonight. Nevertheless there is much to see in the 1-1/2 hour dinner entertainment. I don't want to give away all the acts but be on the lookout for sweet Buttercup and the races by both humans and animals. The dinner was plentiful: creamy soup, biscuit, Cornish hen, pulled pork, mashed potato, corn on the cob and refills of sweet tea, water or soft drink. You must show your id to purchase alcohol. You have a choice of coconut chocolate cake or apple turnover. You can purchase a souvenir photo for $35. They have a gift shop. The servers work super hard carrying trays of food, serving you and refilling drinks. You are deemed either North or South based on where you are sitting around the arena. The competition lasts pretty much throughout the show. If you purchased VIP tickets you can pet one of the performing horses after the show. read more

What a MADHOUSE! We bought the premium tickets online, never offered the VIP. We came here at 7pm, because the email said regular tickets come 730, VIP comes at 7. Unsure we came at 7 they said pick tickets up 720, we returned 2 lines, the only sign saying prepaid tickets proceed through scanners. Went through scanner, nope VIPs only. The security directed us to the long line that wraps half around the building. It's frustrating and we weren't the only ones to experience this. Once in line, you proceed through the metal detector, past security, there is a booth, where the employees ask your name. Once you provide it, they hand you tickets, and you proceed to the photo area. The staff takes your photos to sell to you later during the show. Before getting to the show and seating, you stay in an area where there is a 3 person band playing, and signing.They do country, as well as some classic rock. The band themselves were very good, and got the crowd to participate in their show, calling out where they are from, and being overall interactive. While in the area, they sell refreshments, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, popcorn, glasses and so on. At approximately 820pm, the staff directs you upstairs to proceed through the red curtains into the seating. If you buy regular tickets your in rows 4+ going up. These seats provide an overall better view of the arena, it's not so high you can't see, maybe 10 rows to top? The premium seats are first 3 rows, if you have small children who want to be more interactive in the show and have a better view I would recommend these seats. Our waiter Tim, was a great guy, funny, and attentive to needs. The dinner, was served, starting with a roll, vegetable soup. Next came the Cornish game hen, then mashed potatoes, corn on cob and brisket. Overall the food was good, and lots of it! You get your own mini rotisserie chicken, and 1 scoop of each of the other. Before the show starts you pick your desert, our options were apple crisp, or chocolate coconut cake. We got the crips, which came to us hot, and delicious. You can order drinks from the scan code at the table, or the waiter will come by pre show and ask what you would like to drink. Options were coke products, tea (sweet and unsweetened) lemonade, and water. Moving into the show, so first and foremost, i haven't been to a lot of dinner shows. This one however was great, they had horsemanship, races, competitions and more. Once the show begins the show master, begins by amping up the crowd, 1 side is the north, 1 side the south, they have friendly competitions for both sides during the show. They have you cheer on your team, as they race around obstacles, pick up flags and return the competing against the other side. They also do pig races, where you cheer on the north or south, overall I believe there is 10-11 completions, all fun, and gets you amped up. During the competitions they will bring out people from the crowd (2-3 times) and have them participate in the games, and also a little wagon magic tricks. Besides the completion thy putting shows such as riding horses through and around obstacles, a butterfly show (horses with wings, lights and people acting as butterfly's). They also have some aerial displays and parts of the show. Overall a fun experience minus the mass confusion at the beginning, would recommend going especially if you have children. You won't leave hungry, the food I would say is worth it, the show is worth seeing. Things worth noting, it is a little expensive, tickets for 2 can be north of $100, the drinks, for 2 plastic mason jar alcohol drinks with tip $50+. Our last minute trip to Dolly's Stampede was a success. We called and ended up getting a better offer on tickets with our military discount. The woman who set us up was very friendly. If you arrive early there is a "Pre-Show" where you can buy drinks, play checkers, and watch a trio sing some of Dollys Classics. As they usher you in they take a photo of the family where they'll try to sell to you later on during the show. We came during Christmas time so we watched their Christmas show. The show itself has a ton of different acts. From horse shows to little kids selected from the crowds to chase chickens in a chicken chase race. They had funny acts and then beautiful act. It was a good mixture. The food was good, in the beginning they ask which dessert you'd like. We tried both between my little and I. A Coconut Chocolate cake and Apple Turn over. I personally preferred the apple turn over. Then dinner was a set (They have a vegetarian option to choose from). Soup and biscuit to start, a tiny whole chicken, pulled pork, mash potato's, and corn. Nothing was served together but one after another as they plated. The biscuit and apple turn over were my favorite, the chicken was good but the rest was just ok. The truly only negative I experience (which I did expect) was the smell. It's not strong but it's apparent. They keep the arena dust free by spraying the grounds with mist. Then you are sorta stuck in your seat the whole show unless you're on the end seat or climb out from the backside of the seat. Not impossible but truly not possible for those who have physical restrictions. In the end they allow patrons to come down, meet the riders and pet the horses. My little really liked that. The horse we met was named Rooster, he was a pretty & sweet boy. I believe his rider said about 8 years old. As you leave the facility, there is a store where you can buy merchandise, you can also go into the store without seeing the actual show. As it works as a standalone. We spent over $3500 on this show for our group - and I can not say it was worth it. To start, the check in process was unorganized and we spent 25 minutes milling around the entrance waiting for staff to figure out the process. Seemed like their first day open. However I know that's not true since I went 13 years ago on a family trip. And, well, once we got in it was evident nothing has been updated since that time. The interior is dated and a bit musty (I love nostalgic things but some attention to detail matters). The drinks were expensive in the pre-show area. But soda, tea and lemonade are included with your dinner in the dining area. Once you enter the dining area the livestock smell is very overwhelming. So if you have a weak stomach - you may take issue with eating in that environment. The food was mediocre (I expected that) but it was hot and the servers were great and working so very hard. They may have been the star of the show! The show itself was underwhelming. It was campy and corny, which is fine. But I think it's time for the choreographer/producer to head down to Disney or Cirque de Solei and see what others are doing. I understand the horses limit things but the show is definitely old and predictable. I absolutely love this type of thing and want to see them succeed for decades to come. I can remember going to the Dolly's Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach, SC when I was growing up as a kid and had many fond memories attached to the dinner theater attraction. Which is why when I found myself in Pigeon Forge recently, there was no way I was going to miss a visit to Dolly's Stampede. I wanted to love the experience but looking at the show through adult eyes, I struggled to do so. For starters, let me highlight the good. I give the service 5 stars. Our server was awesome and worked his butt off for our section with a smile on his face at all times. Also, the food is a solid 4 stars. I wish there had been silverware (but eating with your hands is part of the experience). The biscuit and yummy vegetable soup were my favorites, but you definitely won't leave hungry. I even debated purchasing the soup mix in the gift shop after the fact (you conveniently HAVE to walk through the gift shop to exit after the show). I also ordered a cocktail during the pre-show entertainment segment (I wanted that souvenir boot camp) and it was a super yummy and dangerous concoction. The actual show is where I give it 3 stars. The whole narrative of the show was all over the place. One second we're rooting for the North or South and then the next we're watching a butterfly segment . Not to mention, it was sadly obvious that many of the competitions were rigged and that "audience members" randomly selected to participate in competitions were plants from the cast. They give you more than enough southern food. (A whole a** chicken, actually) Good! The food is not spectacular, but it's solid. Does the carpets and seats need some updates? Yes. I think I would like to see some renovations here for the price you pay to see dinner and a show can be pricey. The drinks aren't the greatest and could see a revamp to their menu as well. This review is for the Christmas Show. I was so excited to see this in person, and it was my first Stampede. Beware I do have some spoilers here: Everything in the performance was lacking, I expected everything the way Dolly is - lots of rhinestones and glitter and glitz - and a high performance standard . There was none of that: the live singer during the show was not great, the costumes kind of drab, and a lack of any pomp and circumstance. We noticed immediately that sound quality was lacking so even if there was a nice Christmas song it didn't fill your spirit. The horses are paraded and do some formations but that gets old really quick. You won't see any elegant trotting. They added in some old style redneck comedy that I found particularly outdated. There is some trick riding but other than a fire hoop there was also nothing amazing. There was a barrel race of sorts and if you've been to the rodeo you would think that these horse were in slow-motion. But noticeably, they really only half-committed any of the horse activities into the holiday theme, other than a them being in red and green. There was a Toyland part of the show that was particularly creepy. Using blacklight as a main effect is usually reserved for haunted houses, but somehow someone deemed this appropriate to make fluorescent dolls come to life in a very scary way. The first half of the show there was not much genuine applause or excitement. It was pretty palpable and everyone just focused on the food while glancing up occasionally at the performances. The nativity scene was the redeeming part of the show. Finally you would get a few reactions from the crowd and a variety of animals and some nice elements. It was done very well and I won't spoil it. The end of the show went completely flat with another emergence of the redneck comedian in a chicken outfit. I thought something fun was about to ensue but nothing happened at all. It was just filler . The show then ends with Santa on a sleigh arriving and then it's over. There wasn't much Christmas magic captured in it. The food was pretty good and it was an incredible amount to eat. We felt bad leaving half of our food on the plate. After our plates were removed, a server came by with a to-go bag as if we didn't already clear the plates. I was so confused. For the price tag we paid, this was just a waste of money. Don't buy a VIP ticket - you can see the show at any viewpoint just as easily and no matter what you will be crammed shoulder to shoulder in uncomfortable bench seating. read more

Am I the only one who thought it was just ok? It's a show about the north and the south. Multiple tricks and performances that guide the audience to yell and scream for their team. The teams are divided by which section you sit in. The food was not good. Everything was cooked just fine but the mashed potatoes tasted like they added cinnamon to it, and the rotisserie chicken had a lot of paprika on it. I did get a gf meal. That meal can with no soup, an udi roll and canned fruit, rotisserie chicken, corn, pork, and an udi cookie for dessert. They say to show up an hour early to get your ticket, watch a pre show of musicians, grab a drink and then sit down. The show was about an hour and a half. Glad to have experienced it. It pains me to give this 3 stars as I love Dolly and I love kitsch, but this just didn't hit for me. For context, I've been to Medieval Times, Pirates Voyage, Hatfield and McCoy's, and various other dinner shows in this area and Myrtle Beach. This had one of the most boring themes but some of the better food. It was vaguely disorganized and took a long time to get in. Regarding food, there was a ton of food and it was all at least average. Everyone really liked the biscuits. Our soft drinks stayed full. It was not amazing but it was fine. Certainly better than the terrible food at the Lumberjack Feud. The entertainment started strong with a great pre show band, although finding a seat was difficult. The core show, we loved the horseback rider through the ring of fire and the kids adored the butterflies. Otherwise it was just fine. Kind of more on par with a small town fair vs the quality you would expect for the price. Lots of livestock races, a so so comedian, the singing was meh. It was fine. The half hearted " we are all one" at the end didn't make up for an hour and a half if north vs south rhetoric. The food, omg does anyone that works there taste this stuff. Growing up this dinner show was one of three attractions that was never missed on our near annually holiday trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN. Am I really a fan as a grown adult to be watching a story about the Civil War--not really. Entertainment was great and not overtly religious; we felt comfortable as non-religious folk (my husband and I, that is). I can say with pure confidence, this place has barely been touched since my frequent visits in the 90s and early 2000s. The waiting 'corral' and dining area both could use some 21st Century TLC. The vibes were very drab and gloomy-should feel majestic! After riding around for a while to find parking, we aimlessly walked to what seemed like a ticket line but was the queue-very confusing and quite the hazard with the departing diners from the earlier show. The queue and parking lot situation needs to be handled. No directions in tickets, email, or signage--anything would be something. Service seemed exhausted and unenthused to even be present. Being a frequent visitor of other Dolly attractions, this isn't normal. I did leave a comment on the requested card before departing. The food was the key component of the nostalgic euphoria. Everything was great from the bread to the pudding. Hasn't changed a bit but not much to change, with the exception that adding real whole vegetables to the meal would be a great addition--us adults need our fiber! I had a lot of fun my evening at Dolly's stampede! I came for an 8:30p show on a Wednesday and it was pretty full but not packed. Plenty of parking was available in the big lot. I came right before the show started and they were even calling me, they really keep track of the tickets! The show started right when I arrived, and I was served sweet tea right away. Throughout the show they go through the rest of the courses. The food is pretty good but it is sparse on veggies (a piece of corn is all the veg you get). Just bear that in mind - I'm someone who needs veg daily so it was a dense meal for me! But I enjoyed the show and the vibes, overall I'm glad I went the once. I bought the cheapest level ticket which was $71 and felt it was worth it - wouldn't go again but if anyone was visiting Gatlinburg i would rec to go one time :) read more

Well I never been in my life at 40 years even coming to these area almost every other year. I seen the boot cups at folks homes, but didn't know anything really more than the ads folks push on ya in the streets. Show was at 6pm Friday night, found out it was a sold out show and they was a show before that. So parking was full. Got there about 4:45 and waiting in line . Already had tickets before we come on vacation. We to the pre show which where they toke group photo and had pre show - which is singing and you can get drink both adult and none adult. These is where you get the boot cups since all are served in that. Also flags. It was a a lot of food, a whole roasted chicken, pull pork, mash potatoes, corn on cob, and dessert. Not a very kids friendly meal in my opinion. From us get there, and quick shop, it was 3 and 1/2 hours. But I will say the apple pie mix drink was good. I paid a little extra to have a slightly better seat and I don't believe for one second that I received that courtesy. Am not ABOUT to drink my soup from a bowl (and they don't even have a spoon available when you ask for one ... you're just expected to slurp it up like a heathen ... no thanks), so it just sat there untouched and wasted by me and the others in our party. Fun experience! We went for the Christmas show. My husband went out for the "horseshoes" and had a blast. The show was fantastic. The food was great. There's bad internet in the show so get your alcohol drinks pre-show while watching the pre-show entertainment. They say you arrive an hour early, but if it's peak season, go 2 hours early to avoid the crazy long lines picking up your online tickets. Splurge for the premium seats (not VIP unless you've got kids or special occasion). Definitely worth the money read more

The lines were fast, the preshow was so cheesy I wanted to throw-up. The food was delicious as always. The entertainment was top notch. Our waitress needs to be at any other job than this one. We asked for sweet tea and she insisted she had NO MORE TEA period. Held up the pitcher to show us instead of going to get more. Our food was last to get to us because the waitress was so tiny she could barely hold the tray with all the little hens on it. She completely messed up my experience. I wanted a South Flag even though we were sitting on the North side. She yelled at me and said YOU CAN'T have a South Flag! WE ARE THE NORTH! WOW! What ever happened to the customer is always right? I have attended this show more times than I can count t over the past 30 years, but this past time, it was disappointing. The show was cheesy and there was less focus on the horsemanship . The food was inedible.. so spicy. . read more

AWESOME SHOW! Like actually very impressed by the horse riders especially the women putting on most of the show doing tricks with the horses. About 1.5 hours of entertainment and dinner/desert. Love how interactive it was! HOWEVER, Not going to lie I was really skeptical about the quality of the food, but I was pleasantly surprised how good it actually was. Everything was hot and cooked perfectly, the roasted chicken or (Cornish hen?) was sooo flavorful! I'm not a carnival/show person by any means, but this was actually very fun and the food was all American comfort. 10/10 recommend taking your family or friends for a fun event (especially if it's rainy or snowy and can't do anything outside) read more

Listen, if you've never been, you'll probably like it at least once. But if you've been in the past, prepare to be SORELY disappointed. There is zero storyline. I've watched them take away the southern belles in their big dresses outside, the lit up southern belles dancing from the ceiling, the native Americans, the ostrich races, the fire juggler, the big White House with the fountain, the wagon races, the north and south had to change colors. The show used to be phenomenal!! It had an actual story! Even when they took away the story of the southern belle and her suitor they still had some semblance of a storyline. But now? Nothing. Random woman and man dancing on silks. Random butterflies that look half dead. Buffalo rounded up by nondescript "cowboys" (not even in actual costumes) instead of the native Americans. And they don't even attempt to connect any of it together into a cohesive show. They've cut down on the actual riding competitions and trick riding. Idk just so so so disappointing watching it go so far down over the last 25 years. Even the food has went WAYYYY down. Soup is watery. No more cheddar biscuit. Just meh. Now if you're new to the area, this is a must. If you've been before and can afford it, you should probably go again. The food is outstanding, especially the soup. Make darn sure to have that soup (everybody gets the same meal unless you report a food allergy and I think they maybe offer a vegetarian plate). The service includes food first brought out quick quick quick so you can start eating right away. Shortly after food and drinks are out the show begins. The whole building goes dark and suddenly you're in a horse show with all kinds of tricks and entertainers and the entire feel of the place changes instantly.
