We had a last minute memorial and unfortunately less than a week to book linens to rent. I had received quotes from other rental places and by far Dolphin Event Services was reasonable, convenient and the best for rental all around. I was able to pick up the linens since it was close to my home. Pickup was the day before (Thursday) the memorial and returned on Monday. Was in a bind for a last minute banquet and we urgently needed table linen. I was referred to this place from a friend. They were so easy to deal with. I called and they answered all my questions. I ended up renting 10 tables cloths for a 75 person dinner. I picked them up myself. What a relief!!! It made our life easier. 10 pieces for $200, it was a no brainer. Only issue was finding the place as it was in an industrial complex, some signage outside gate but hard to find once inside. Either way, I will be back for more rentals. read more

We give Dolphin Event Services 5 Stars because they are great to work with. We have used Dolphin many times in the past, however, recently we used them for our daughter's wedding reception. Art was our key contact throughout the whole process. He and his team made themselves available when we wanted to update our order or had questions about what to include on our order. Which probably not a big deal in hindsight except that I had two kids in the car. Only knocking down a star because one of my kids tables leaked water the entire day it was up. This is another great party rental place i happen to find that had really great low prices in Pasadena when i was planning a party for my daughter. They carry everything you need from trays, bowls, large spoons, tables, chairs, you name it they got it! The rental of the chairs start as low as $1.00 each which i thought was great and they have great table cloths and heating lamps if your having an outdoor party too. The party coordinator is Errol Simonitch who does the Event Planning but all the other staff is really great and attentive. I just don't get it. Dolphin has always been a top notch outfit, but my experiences have been so polar opposite, and I feel compelled to share. Currently I am out of the country, but planning a mid December outdoor party in Pasadena for 200 people with live music and a catered dinner. I have sent them three emails, which I verified were read through our company Network Administrator. The third email stated that I needed to hear from them in 24 hours. I have documentation that the email has been read. Unfortunately, I've lost four days of planning so its time to move to another vendor. I'm really scratching my head on their lack of response. We even checked our Barracuda Spam Filter to see if their reply got caught up. There is no record what so ever of any attempt to respond. Now I need to explore the internet for other vendors... Easy peasy rental for even small events like mine. I rented a few cocktail tables, linens, chairs and a 6 foot table for a Saturday afternoon backyard event. Angelica was my contact and was so patient as I had to continuously adjust the numbers on my order due to the fluctuating RSVPs. I picked up my items the day before and dropped them off Monday morning. They do offer a drop off/pick up service but I chose to do it myself since I lived closeby. They offer competitive rates so even if another location offers items a few nickles cheaper, the customer service here is worth it. There's no pressure or upselling so you get whatever you feel comfortable with. They have a nice showroom and display a whole bunch of other things (water dispenser, utensils, coffee maker pot, etc.) in case you forgot to consider additional stuff for your event. read more

It was an OK experience I could say. I went there and order what I need directly in they store. It was the weekend before the event I organized and this lady asked me if I want the delivery to be done of Friday (my party was on Sunday). I mentioned that I am ok as long they don't charge me. She was a bit surprised. I did my math and I knew that my order would be under $400. To make the story short, she was charging me for one full week!!!!Her total was around $1200. I asked to review my order and she made the correction. My question is this: how many times they make this mistake? Otherwise the selection was good and the delivery was in time. read more

I used Dolphin Event Services to celebrate my daughter's wedding. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area I was apprehensive this would go smoothly and was pleasantly surprised it did. The party was in Pasadena, I made one trip down to go to their showroom and the rest was done by phone and email. Art was present for the set up and was one of the most accommodating people I have worked with. We talked about where the items would go, exchanged ideas on lighting and moved things around until we were both satisfied. After everything was in place, Art encouraged me to call him if I needed anything changed. I was not present when the items were picked up but was assured by my daughter's mother-in-law that it was a very smooth process. This was an important party for our family and with Art's help, and the staff who patiently changed my order several times over the course of two months, our party was a big success and everything looked beautiful. The good: They have great prices and a good selection of items. Also, they are VERY quick to respond and very helpful in their showroom. Their quality is not as good as other vendors, in my experience, so if you rent chairs from them I would order some extras just in case some are damaged. Especially if it is a wedding! I just got a quote from them for my wedding and it was very reasonable. I decided to go with another vendor tho that was comparable. The staff at Dolphin has always been awesome! It seems to be very hard to find good event rentals in LA now so if planning an event I highly suggest that you get a quote from Dolphin. Now the bad: I have worked with Dolphin in the past when they were the vendor for a company i worked for. When I started coordinating the corporate events, I had 3 months in a row where the products were not good. Some of the chairs were broken. Also, the customer service fell through the cracks the last month and Dolphin dropped the ball on something that was very important to the company. With that said, I was very impressed with how the manager handled the situation. the manager took responsibility and sincerely apologized. he didn't make excuses. Unfortunately, by that time, I had to use another vendor because having things go wrong 3 months in a row - well, I just couldn't have the executives upset again. They have no price on any item, but I was told i can get an estimate for the whole package ( dinnerware, silverware, table cloth, char covers, chairs, etc.). I'm surprised I haven't left a review for dolphin yet. I use them all the time for any big parties... for about 10 years. Brittany helps me usually, and she's very sweet, patient and knowledgable. Always a smooth process doing the ordering, and their delivery and pickup crew are quick, and are always very respectful of coming into our home. I also made some last minute changes, needing less rentals than I thought, and I didn't even have to hound them for the refund as I saw it on my card in a couple days. I contacted Dolphin after hours in a desperate search to find a large tent for my daughter's wedding. Rain was in the forecast and we had three days to figure out the tent situation. Art from Dolphin called me that same night and was so helpful. As it turned out we didn't use Art only because my husband contracted with another company. I rented from Dolphin Event Services for my wedding this past weekend and I will say hands down Brittany L. is one of the best contacts/reps working there. She's worked with me for about 3 or 4 months before the wedding and I can say that she truly is a sweetheart and will do anything and everything to make sure your event goes smoothly. Her supervisor Errol and her had to solve a pretty serious dilemma that may have caused me and my husband to change reception locations, however, they were able to work things out and to do everything they could to get our event back on track. The reason why I rated it four stars was because the prices were kind of steep considering they were exclusive to the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden which is where we had our wedding, so we had to use them as our rental company. But other than that everything was great, and they've gained another customer! The reception turned out beautiful thanks to them and all rentals were clean and everything that we ordered was accounted for! I would definitely work with them again! read more

We used this company for a recent work event. They left 3 chairs and a linen behind. They asked us about it a few days later and said they can come back at a $94 pick up charge or we could take it to their wearhouse. How is it our problem when they left things behind and now they can't find the pickup invoice with a count of the items. The whole thing was such a mess. The girl I communicated with wasn't thorough in emails either. Needless to say they after lots of back and fourth they came back and found the chairs. I had the linen they left behind and "forgot" to call me when they came for the chairs. Oh best part. I offered to fedex it to them if they gave me their account number...they don't have one! AVOID THIS PLACE!!! We were looking for 3 tables and 26 chairs for our daughter's HS graduation party and we got a quote yesterday for $8.25 per table and $1.25 per chair. The price was a little higher than others but they're local and had fairly good reviews so we decided to book the order today. When we called, we were told that their price went up to $9.00 per table overnight! I spoke to the manager Kevin and I asked him if he was willing to honor yesterday's quote. He said absolutely not since we did not book the order yesterday. While we can certainly afford the additional $2.25 increase, we have decided to go elsewhere. read more

Wow, this is my first 1 star review ever. But after leaving messages for the manager and getting no response, I thought I have to tell it like it is. Especially since I found them and used them because of yelp. The gist is I received bad customer service, bad delivery service and sub par equipment. So if a rental company has faulty equipment, makes mistakes on delivery and no one wants to help rectify those mistakes, um what else is there? I won't get into all the small, stupid stuff - I had 2 big issues happen so that I won't use them again or recommend them. Upon delivery, I had items missing. It wouldn't have been a big deal if they would have easily come back to drop off what was missing. (They were the bases for the tables so I couldn't do any set up without them.) They give you a 9am-7pm delivery window so obviously I couldn't stay at home all day waiting for the delivery. I was gone for 1 hour picking up my kids from school and of course, that's when everything was dropped off. No problem until I discovered the missing bases. After numerous calls back and forth where they were insisting they had delivered the bases, they finally checked their truck and guess what, the bases were still on the truck. But get this, they wouldn't come back and deliver them until the next day. That's their policy. But don't worry I'll have them by the time my event starts at 5pm. What? No way! I can't set up without the table bases!! Then nearly 3 weeks after my event, I get an invoice showing that I was charged a "replacement fee" for broken items. I personally inspected and packed every item and there wasn't a single thing broken. Considering the shoddy delivery, how do I know they didn't break things loading them back into their truck? I called on the phone to dispute it and of course the manager wasn't available. But the message with the dispute would get passed on. Sure. I'm mailing a letter to the manager today because maybe my phone messages got misplaced. read more

My experience with Dolphin was very mixed. I worked with Aimee, who was extremely helpful. Then the delivery was incomplete--missing one table--and we had ordered a tablecloth and six chairs to go with it! I called Saturday night when I discovered this (the delivery had been left at a time when I was not home--which had to occur because we were operating on short notice). I was not able to reach anyone at the "after hours" number for several hours. Finally someone called, but I knew the company was closed Sunday and decided to get along without the table. After I asked twice, Dolphin agreed to recredit my credit card for the cost of the table, but not for the chairs that went with the table. I asked for credit for the chairs, and was told I'd get credit for HALF of the chairs that went with that table. Not a smart move! If they had been more generous and taken responsibility for the error, I would have definitely used them again. They have no yet credited my account--I'll see how that goes. As it is, I'm not sure! If I ever did use them, I'd be sure to be home for the delivery and look very carefully at everything, individually. read more

When we contacted them about their mistake, they suggested that we "tuck in" the extra fabric!!!! Who does that?!? They showed up on time, however, I have nice finished wood gates. I asked the delivery men to be careful entering and exiting my gates. Instead they damaged my gates with the rental heaters. I have to have them refinished. I will never use them again. Delivery people need to be careful with private property, end of story. read more
