I've never eaten in; only takeout but dolsot house had amazing food the few times I tried it. The wings are insanely good. The meat is juicy, the skin is cooked well and the glazed sauce is excellent. I've also had the spicy pork bulgogi dolsot in the past and it was really good. The vegetables were good, the pork was flavorful, and the egg on top brought the whole meal together. As one who cooks authentic Korean daily at home, Id say that there was no reason for us to dine here except that it was the most convenient Korean spot on way home to Boston from DC. With that said, I'll give an honest review as someone who grew up on some of the best home cooked Korean by a mom who made everything from scratch at artisan level -- also recognizing that this is a small dining establishment in a mall strip with four other competing asian american businesses nearly side by side. Her is what we ordered. I will provide two "well done" and two "could be improved" comments: Sundubu Jjigae -- + right temp as it came out (bubbling hot) + fresh seafood (not frozen) - "extra spicy" should not equate to extra salty (if anything, subtle sweetness should balance out the extra spiciness) - presentation is important when serving food (when there are food particles all over the edges of the bowl, no matter how hot, take the time to wipe it down) we eat with our eyes as well, therefore makes it less appetizing Chicken Bulgogi (marinade) Bento Box -- + decent quantity of chicken + decent attempt at grilling the chicken vs stir frying (though several bottom pieces were well over charred) *cardinal no no of bento box presentation: - #1. do not drench an already sparse salad with dressing to the point that all you taste is dressing - #2. color is everything. Perhaps the preparer knew that my 7 yr old hates veggies? I did not know it was possible to prepare JapChae without any color whatsoever. (I might have thought it was intentional except for the two small pieces of scallions within) YukGae Jang -- (my husband's dish, therefore I did not get a chance to taste the broth) + seemed like a reasonable amount of shredded beef (based on what husband claims) + broth was boiling hot and "not overly salty or bland" (his words) - not enough veggies (esp fernbrake) - size of the bowl was much smaller than usual (though it was a reasonable compromise since dolsot bowls that reach high temps tend not to come in bigger sizes) Chicken Wing & Drums -- (5 Honey, 5 Spicy) + perfect crisp (yet meat tender) + sauce (sweet, but not annoyingly so) - the Spicy were almost undistinguishable from the Honey (the sweetness base of the Spicy should not be so similar to the Honey. use of other flavors could have made this sauce exceptional. eg ground ginger, slight gochujang, wasabi etc. (if you know how to make excellent crispy chicken, why not go all the way?) - (this is not re the dish itself but the accompaniment) -- Note: When the wet wipe squares that come with the chicken start smelling like wet laundry and begins to yellow, its time to replace. Overall, the quality of food was 2.5 considering all things. Kudos for so far surviving a most challenging season for all restaurant establishments as well. I truly do wish you well. Note: The server was exceptionally kind and attentive, hence the extra .5 star Additional Note: yes. I did get a chuckle out of the bathroom sign that said "Aim like a Jedi. Came yesterday evening for dinner with some friends, every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. All the food was pretty good, and for a pretty reasonable price came with more than enough for leftovers! My only complaint would just be the layout of the restaurant itself, pretty crowded and chaotic. read more

I have gotten the bulgogi lunch special. Everything was good- japchae was really good! The bumgogi could have been a little more flavorful but I ordered it to go so that could have had an effect on it. There was a lot of meat, good portions of kimchi japchae and vegetables, but not as much rice as I like (it was probably a normal serving size I just like a bunch of rice with my meals). I would definitely go back and look forward to trying more of their menu. read more

[Grade: A] [Worth it ($)?: 9/10 - great deal, great meal] On my journey north, I initially was thinking of getting Philly Cheesesteak in Philly, right? But oddly enough I was craving korean food and luckily I found this place nearby I-95. Although a bit confusing to get to at first (there's like three very close right turns you can take right before it and the GPS had a hard time showing which one it was), I thought it had that great ambience that I've normally encountered in the many korean restaurants I've been to. I especially enjoyed how they had street food and other types of korean food making shows in the background as I love watching those on my own. Although they had a wide selection of authentic korean food, I was craving kalbi specifically so I went with the kalbi box. Personally, I thought it tasted as good as I hoped for and maybe a bit better. The kalbi was perfectly cooked with an excellent char while still being super juicy. The japchae was pretty much what I expected, but nothing super crazy tho. What stood out to me was how good the salad was, especially the dressing. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly what is was, but all I know is that it was delicious. Lastly their banchan had an excellent selection of fresh veggies and kimchi. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal, and I'm glad I took the time to stop by on my trip. Great food, ambience, and service! I wish I had a chance to try more, especially their korean fried chicken, but until next time I suppose. I'll be sure to stop by again on my next trip! read more

I came here with my parents and we had the jampong, naeng myun and galbi dolsot. The banchan was simple but very good (good kim chi and that is important to me). Portions are large but more importantly, the flavor was larger. My jampong broth was delish and it was heartily filled with seafood. The noodles were perfectly cooked. On the other spectrum, my mom's naeng myun was also flavorful and filled with beef strips, cucumber and radish. The broth was also terrific. Lastly, my dad said this was the best dolsot he's ever had. He loved how the onions and carrots were cooked and became caramelized. The galbi was also well marinated and very tasty. We came at the end of their lunch hour and it took a while to get our food. But the wait is worth it because the food is sooo good. read more

I was in the area today and really wanted to grab something quick to eat at home. I visited Dolsot House a few years ago, but I'm not sure why I didn't write a review. Anyway, today I opted to try the Edamame, 4pc Dolsot Honey Sesame Wings, Lunch L.A. Kalbi Dolsot and the Lunch Spicy Pork Dolsot. I had a 30 min wait, which I didn't mind. I finally received the packaged items and made my way home. Upon my return home, I immediately tried the Honey Sesame Wings. Wow, they were so crispy and completely covered in honey. I enjoyed every single bite. I moved on to my L.A. Kalbi Dolsot, which came in a nice deep, round, bowl that was completely full. I loved the flavor of the marinated ribeye and how it went with the zucchini and carrots. The rice was a little mushy, but I love mushy rice! I give the L.A. Kalbi Dolsot a thumbs up. My husband had the edamame. He noticed that lack of sea salt (yes, he loves his sea salt). I looked at the edamame and didn't see any salt as well. Easy fix, we added our own. He moved on to the Spicy Pork Dolsot and ravaged the entire bowl in one sitting. Needless to say, he enjoyed everything just as I did. I would love to visit Dolsot House again when I am in the area. Got 2 different flavors of their wings.. Honey Sesame and Soy Garlic... and flavors were on point and wings were crisped to perfection! I feel like you can see the crispness in the photos I posted! And these were good size wings! Not skimpy puny wings... like lots of meat on your wings! The Bibimbap was so good too... you can order your amount of preferred spiciness... I ordered a 3 but didn't feel that was spicy enough, so will definitely be going higher on the spicyness. But flavors were good. Only thing I miss is the stone pot it would normally be served in if dining in the restaurant because I'm one of those that like how the rice gets crunchy from that stone pot hehe and keeps the food nice and warm. We went late on a Sunday and it was nearly full but we were seated right away. Staff is very attentive to when you need something or finish a course. Ambiance is low but that's ok because we were just coming home from farming and we were def not dressed for anything other than a casual place. We apologized to the host and he said not to worry. I say this because I felt it was very kind of them. I ordered the seafood soup. It was full of many types of seafood & I got plenty to take home. They give you a choice on spice level. 1-5. This is my go to for great unique food. I typically get the chicken Bulgogi box at spice level 3 and ask for extra salad dressing to pour on my rice. You can't knock it until you try it! I do want to preface that the food is solid and worth trying. We were here a night where it was very busy. We arrived at 5:30pm for a 5:45pm reservation and did not get our food until 7:05pm. 2 servers for a full indoor and outdoor setup. Service was non-existent, and we ended up getting our check while we were eating to save time. Their banchan was okay, I was not a fan of the kimchi, which had no flavor or seasoning. We had their "best voted wings" in South Jersey with the spicy sauce, and they were cold unfortunately. The batter was crunchy and delicious. Also ordered a kimchi sundubu and they gave us a mushroom by mistake. Yukgaejang was delicious and piping hot. Kalbi dolsot is a must get! However the last time I went, the rice was soggy rather than crispy which was really disappointing. I did not like the wings either. Galbi tang soup was okay. The soup had good flavors. Noodles were good. But the beef was a bit tough. They should really expand their location. Wait times are crazy during peak hours and I'm not sure it's worth the wait. I wish this placed stayed opened later. It's known to locals that the kitchen is a bit on the slower side. The food however is honestly pretty solid. I'm Korean so it's hard for me to go to Korean restaurants and pay the premium prices they charge to eat food from the motherland. It's understandable that they have to charge more for traditionally affordable food because the market for Korean food is still very immature. I can't wait for interest in Korean culture and food to take another leap in the future. It's going to be great when I'm able to walk into a restaurant that specializes in stews one day and go to another that does just cold noodles the next. But until that day comes, I'm just grateful I can come to a place like this and get a solid portion of both every now and then when I'm missing Korean food. Truly hidden gem vibes from this restaurant! Right next to Philadelphia, it's a quick drive over the bridge to have some reasonably-priced Korean foods! We got the scallion pancake - super crispy and light/airy with the right amount of flavor! Kimchi fried rice was cooked deliciously with the perfect egg on top to mix it in with your rice. The fried chicken was crispy and packed with a lot of flavor! My friend also got the chicken Katsu and he left no leftovers! My son took me there about a year ago, I had been in Korea, but never ate their food. I had the chicken Dolsot, and honey garlic wings! The wings were crispy and delicious! The staff here are so nice and have recognized me and my boyfriend after coming here for years. Even when we had not dined in for a while due to Covid, when we returned, the owner greeted us warmly, and said it was nice to see us again! I always love the Bonchon that they give as well. Their Korean fried chicken is the best I have ever had! The honey sesame is really truly delicious. The soy garlic is good as well but not as good as a honey sesame. Their japchae is very delicious. I have been coming to this restaurant for at least a few years. I don't live nearby, but every time I come to Cherry Hill, I get Dolsot house. The pick up time has been longer during the Covid time, but understandable. 90% of the time we order take out or dine in the food quality are consistently amazing. Last time we ordered beef bulgogi dolsot and got something different. We didn't find out until we got home. It was flavorful but the rice was really mushy.
