I asked him to cover it with blankets as I know it's a large sofa and would be tight in the corridor and previous sofa delivery experience however he refuses it instead of doing what the customer wants... Sad to have to leave this review. I don't like leaving 1-star reviews and I try to give businesses as many chances as possible to make things right, but unfortunately Doman instead doubled down on his unprofessionalism. Doman and his assistant moved us as agreed on Jan 1 and everything went without incident. They worked hard and were efficient, so I felt it appropriate to tip both of them generously in addition to their original fee. However, afterward Doman charged me the full amount and "forgot" to deduct my initial $20 deposit which I had paid earlier that week. It slipped my mind as well, so I paid him the full amount as he requested. Later, when I realized I had overpaid, I sent a polite email asking for a refund for my overpayment. Doman ghosted me for almost 3 months despite my attempts to reach him periodically. I could have just left a 1-star review at that point, but I was hoping it was just a misunderstanding, and even though it was just $20 I wanted to give him the opportunity to make it right and handle it in a professional manner. After finally getting him on the phone, I acknowledged their hard work, and again politely asked for a refund of the overpayment based on the principle of good business. He then told me, no joke, and I quote, "to go kiss my ass." Unreal. I don't have a problem with the work they did (which was good) or the pricing (it was fair). What I do have a problem with is feeling entitled to take something that isn't yours just because you think you did a good job. And I REALLY have a problem with being cursed at for asking for something back THAT BELONGS TO ME. I don't care how hard you think you worked. I don't care how good your price is. This is 2021. If you tell a customer to "kiss my ass," you get one star. Simple as that. If you don't mind being treated this way as a paying customer, then by all means use Doman's services. It's cheap and fast. On the other hand, if you value honesty, professionalism, and common courtesy, search elsewhere. UPDATE: I encourage everyone to read this guy's response - it tells you everything you need to know about him. He knows his dishonest and rude behavior are indefensible, so instead he triples down with bizarre, irrelevant personal insults about gas money, how many Yelp reviews I've written (???), and talking sh*t about my wife. You can't make this stuff up. He goes on about how hard he worked (which I already acknowledged - and paid - and tipped - him for) as if that somehow justifies stealing, then has the stones to call me cheap. I guess asking for something that was stolen from you is considered "cheap" now? Think really hard before hiring this guy - if he feels like he "deserves" it, he might just steal from you too. read more

Decided at the last minute we wanted to hire movers (I'm talking 48 hour notice). Got a bunch of quotes and no other company came close to Doman Cheap Movers' hourly rates. They were able to accommodate our last minute move at a time that worked for us. We paid for two movers and a truck. They arrived on time (early, actually) and immediately got to work. Both movers were polite, professional, and friendly. They wore masks and gloves the entire time they were loading and unloading. They also took apart our sectional and put it back together which was much appreciated. They were very efficient with unloading at our new home and placed our large furniture items where requested. Nothing was damaged or broken which was a relief! Another plus: very easy to communicate with the owner and the movers via text. Will definitely consider them for our next move! read more

I can't believe how bad they were. I'm still stunned. First they came and did a quote... an hourly rate or a flat rate. They came and looked at everything and gave a price. I accepted. The night before I was informed it was cash only... totally sketchy. I said it's a bit late for that information... he said I could go to the bank in the morning. I should have cancelled then. I needed to move the next morning, so I felt stuck. Within an hour they had my couch covered in dirt... they apparently thought it made a good place to pick things off the floor to help them move. I had recently paid $250 to have it cleaned, and now I have to do it again. They took my memory foam mattress and threw it on the floor and walked all over it. I asked about both of these things and was told they he didn't see them do it... but he could blow the dirt off. Another $250 down the drain. They were pretty rough with my stuff. At the new place they were actually throwing each other boxes marked fragile up the stairs. They complained about having to do the work for the fee they charged, often. They did not put things where I asked and just started leaving boxes downstairs instead of upstairs... no matter what I asked. By the time they were done I couldn't even get to the kitchen for a bottle of water without moving stuff. After a few weeks of moving stuff to get to stuff, there was plenty of ways to put stuff without leaving people to tunnel through boxes for weeks. Most places know that you put the furniture in first and bring the boxes once that is how it supposed to be, they did the opposite. Much of my furniture was gouged, my desk broken... it will cost me a couple grand to replace and repair all of the damage they did to my stuff. They left dirt marks on my walls as well. Doman came through for me big time. He got back to me right away and had a truck out on very short notice. It was actually a rather critical situation for my company and his reliability and professionalism were a big relief. His pricing was fair and he has a simple way to account for gas milage that I thought made it fair and easy. The team had a proper big box truck with a lift gate and the right equipment to do the move quickly and safely. He asked for a 30 dollar deposit via venmo which I think was reasonable. He also has the drivers take cash payment on completion. It would be cool if he took venmo for that too but I can see why he does it that way. He was also easier to work with than some of the other companies that asked for pics and model numbers of the equipment which I was t able to provide at the time. He took my word on the dimensions and approximate weight and just got someone out right away. read more

Ken and his team are fantastic movers. I've used them twice now and cant tell you how communicative, quick and efficient they are. Both times I moved, I had a lot of furniture, tv, bed frame + heavy mattress, clothes, etc and nothing was damaged. It even rained that day! Ken is really communicative leading up the move and kept me informed of his arrival time. Cant thank them enough and will definitely use them again in the future! They are also really affordable! when I hired this guy everything seemed really cool. My apartment was an impossible move that went on for three days. He was able to come out when I needed him two more times for the smaller jobs and I was beyond grateful. Note- the first large move was well priced. When he knew I was desperate for the help he charged me double. Out of appreciation I gave him 80.00 tip the first time, 40.00 the second time, and finally 20.00 when he gauged me on the final visit. I thought all was okay until I started noticing everything was a mess. Pegs were missing so shelves could not go up, door hinges on furniture bent and unable to close, Dings and cracks and pieces missing in every edge and corner of my tv stand and book shelves and pantry not to mention on the doorways. Fine. I can deal. Until I sat down on my 1000$ reclining sofa. He told me when he moved it that he usually charges extra but gave me a deal. If I knew it would have saved me 1000$ on a new reclining sofa I would have paid the extra. The center seat caves in when you sit. A piece of metal makes a bending creeking sound as it pops down when sat on and up again when you stand. This is a large reclining sofa that is mostly metal. It's very heavy. It was clear as they desperately struggled to move it that they needed proper equipment which they didn't have despite me sending photos of the sofa ahead of time. When confronted he laughed at me as though I was lying about it. As though I by myself could somehow damage a sofa Like this that I cannot move let alone lift. I told him he would have to pay to repair it. He obviously is not licensed or insured to be a mover. So of course he cannot and will not pay to fix it. Now I have to take him to small claims. Just cause someone is nice, and helpful, and more reasonable, don't spend your time and your money on someone who cannot do the job. I would have rather had expensive unhelpful jerks moving my stuff if it was going to save me all this hassle and not break all my stuff I would also like to add since this is actually an edit to my review, that I will be also suing for defamation as what this man has responded in this review is not factual in anyway shape or form, but I do appreciate the lies. They are just more useful when I take him to court but thank you! read more

Ken was also great keeping in touch and confirming the move details. Terrific value and service. They also brought their own dollies and furniture wrap. BTW, we had our own Uhaul truck and hired Doman to move our furniture and boxes into the truck. They loaded the truck so efficiently that I could have rented a smaller truck! They even helped move a bed over to a neighbor. What a relief. Now I only have to worry about the sketchy movers at our destination who already flaked on us. I have just moved from Chicago to North Hollywood and I had a small trailer with some of my belongings that I thought I would have no problem unpacking once I arrived at my new apartment. I rented a dolly from Home Depot and gave it the good college try, but I was too exhausted to schlep it all up to the second floor from the parking lot. I did an internet search for cheap movers in North Hollywood on the spot and this company popped up, I gave them a call, explained my situation, and they were able to send me help within 30 minutes. They charged me $40 for about an hour, and unlike other moving companies, did not have a minimum hourly requirement and I didn't have to wait to make an appointment.
