I've been to Domenic's a few times now and would say that it may be one of the hidden treasures of the Harmony Rd area. The food has impressed each time. While I understand that many have complained about the "no substitution" policy, I rather commend that this establishment respects the chefs that much. Given the quality of the menu, I wouldn't think it would be difficult to find something that meets the needs of most palates. The drinks have been well-made and there is a good selection available. Family dinner out on a Saturday when all the favorite restaurants are slammed. We decided to check out "Domenic's" in FoCo, as I had been there for lunch with friends the day before. We were seated immediately, and received fast attention from our server. I ordered a Patron margarita, which was quite tasty, my husband had a signature dirty martini. The menu offers quite a selection, including 3 specials, and it took a few minutes to make our selections. I chose shrimp and grits, which turned out to be the best I ever had. Our son had the generously portioned lasagna, and my husband had the ahi tuna special. We were all very pleased with our meals. Our server was very attentive, the owner stopped by the table to make sure everything was going well, and Domenic refilled our water glasses. Daily risotto, filet mignon, fish specials which have never disappointed. Not a huge menu but the quality is legit. Has a decent wine list and tapas type appetizers if that's your thing. Also, don't forget to save room for the Marscapone Cheesecake. It would be a mistake not too. The house salad was incredible with a lemon vinaigrette that beautifully complimented the candied almonds. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, meatball, red peppers, spinach and fresh garlic. Great ambiance and wonderful food. I got the butternut gnocchi and it was wonderful! It had mushrooms and spinach as well. People clearly aren't ordering the right things on the menu or have little patience. I have always had a great experience here, from the service to the food. The staff is friendly but not overly so, and they provide great service and attention. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Wine selection is gorgeous. Their pizza is absolutely the best in town, and I try to tell them that every time I go. Ordering it to go is also a plus, and they always have it ready when they say it will be. We were in Fort Collins for the day and decided to try Dominic's for a low-key dinner for two. We certainly were not disappointed. It's not a large place and all of the tables were taken when we arrived at 6pm on a Saturday. However, we found seats at the bar and were treated to great wine, great food, and great service - a winning combination! The owner stopped over for a chat, as did one of the elderly local celebrities. It seems we were sitting next to a photo of her as a child sitting with her brother on the running board of a Model T Ford. This is the second time that I have been to Domenics. The service was not great at all, waited for refills and water every time. For a Thursday evening they were busy like any restaurant. I had the Braciole which was warm at best with cold potatoes on the bottom. My dining partner had the special which was halibut and it was way over cooked. I would not recommend. Terrible food and over priced. I wrote this place off years ago for the food being severely over salted to the point it was inedible. I decided to give it one more chance recently, and it got even worse. They charged $23 for 4 tiny scallops and a cup of undercooked crunchy instant rice. The scallops were saturated with a salt brine or something, and were completely inedible. Also paid $9 for a watered down "Mai Tai". I'm surprised this place has stayed in business for so long. The price to portion size ratio is one of the worst in town. The glowing reviews must be coming from employees and friends, or salt-a-holics. There's even a bunch of course, crunchy rock salt on the salad. I wanted to like this local establishment, but unfortunately can get better food from many of the chains. read more

This so easily could 've five stars, but just a few hiccups along the way. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly though very busy looking waitress, who invited us to sit anywhere we would like. The restaurant is set up with some low tables a the front and a bar unvtge back with son high top tables parallel with the bar . We sat at one ofthe high tops and after about five minutes were presented with menus. The cocktail menu is interesting and varied and our drinks were well mixed and served quickly. When looking at the menu there are several specials that Said ask server..... So we did, at this point the young lady looked a little panicked and said the other server had taken her list so she would have to go and get it! About 10 minutes later she reappeared, again very friendly, but with no apology for the delay. We ordered mussels and the braised pork belly as appetizers and then a risotto and the Kurobota pork chop for entrees. When the appetizers were brought to the table, the server said she would bring back plates, but they didn't appear..... So we ate right off the serving plates. Now here is the five star piece, the food is FANTASTIC!! The pork belly was perfectly cooked with a great chimuchurri accompanying it and the mussels were properly cleaned and the broth was delicious, although no bread to sip up the juices seemed strange.... Just as we were finishing, our server came back then remebered the plates and bread!! Oh well, she was still really friendly. The entrees arrived, and again were really good. The pork chop dish I would drive many miles to have again, it was perfect. The risotto, so often a tripping point was delicious and was well cooked. We were then asked about dessert, which we said yes we would look at. The server did not come back for about 10 minutes, and when she surveys brought the check!!! Well I guess we didn't want dessert! So overall , fabulous food, great atmosphere, and friendly but poor service. Fix the service and this is one of the best places in Ft.Collins. read more

2.5 stars really. The Husband and I came here last night for dinner. We're out of towners and are staying in Fort Collins for a few nights. Domenic's looked interesting enough and we're all about trying out "hidden gems" and non chainy restaurants. But after dinner last night we were stumped as to how this place is a 4 star here on Yelp. The ambiance and decor were great and I give that aspect 5 stars! But other than that, this place is so average. I'm sorry, but everything was forgettable. They were understaffed, so the hostess was the waitress too, and the poor girl was running around ragged. The bartender also had to deliver food. There were tables without their drinks and I could hear some people getting annoyed. Another waitress would have helped tremendously. We were told Sundays are usually quiet...but not that night! Anyhow, on to the food...we ordered drinks and the crab cake appetizer, the crab cakes came out literally like 3 minutes later. Before the drinks even made it to the table! The crab cakes clearly weren't fresh. They looked like they were made way before hand and just nuked to warm them up, which they were barely warm....At least they had decent flavor. The garlic aioli sauce that came with it was pretty overpowering, but whatev. My Husband ordered the tomato basil bisque and he loved it. Said it was the best part of the meal. For entrees, I ordered the sausage Bolognese and the Husband ordered the pulled chicken salad. He said the flavors didn't mesh well and he was just eating to get full......my pasta, flavor wise was decent, but the noodles tasted old and the sauce tasted a little stale and microwaved. Maybe it would've tasted better hot?? Everything was just blah and luke warm...We were hungry so we didn't complain. The only thing that made me smile about this place is the fact that they had my favorite key lime pie martini on their drink menu, and it wasn't bad. Even though they seemed a bit understaffed on the wait staff, I just don't feel that's what contributed to the mediocre food. We won't be returning, it just wasn't good enough. read more

My husband and I stopped by Domenic's last night for a quick bite after not having eaten there for a year or so (not sure why we hadn't been there, I think we just forgot it was there)! We had the crab cakes, delicious, maybe they could have used a little more sauce, the bruschetta, yummy and then we decided to split the polenta with shrimp, asparagus, mushrooms and tomatoes. Oh my! It was sooooo good. We literally said, "this is soooo good" with each bite. We lived the light white wine sauce and every bite was devoured and enjoyed. Also, we had a wonderful waitress named Brittanie, who took amazingly good care of us and made sure we were happy and never thirsty. Four of us met here to talk and catch up on things. Interesting menu. Located in a strip mall in south-central Fort Collins, they were moderately busy on a Friday evening. Good bar selection for those who like a beer or wine with their meal. The inside seating was OK, but the AC was on maximum and the music too loud, so we set outside, where even it too was a bit loud after it filled up. Our caesar salad and risotto were good, but not excellent. A BBQ pizza was quite good. Bread, at this Italian restaurant, was extra . . . since when should you expect to pay for bread to go with your salad or entree??? Overall, the pricing was a bit on the high side. Great ambiance. We went to dinner here for my brothers birthday with my 90 yr old grandfather in tow. Four generations and everyone could fine something stellar on this simple menu. Gluten free options clearly labeled which is perfect for my allergy prone body. I had the braciole, which was an amazing comfort food dish. My mom and grandfather split the shrimp and grits and they loved it. Grandpa was pretty happy about the number of shrimp, he counts them every time he orders a dish with shrimp, it how he justifies the price of the dish. My brother and son shared the white lightning pizza where they added pepperoni, sausage and ham. For desert my brother had an amazing homemade cheese cake presented with a nice candle to honor our celebration of my brothers 36th birthday. Pleasant wait staff too. I rarely review anything on Yelp but after seeing my favorite place in town only had 3 stars I had to write something! This place is amazing, my wife and I have been there at least 10 times since we found it tucked away in a little strip mall. She almost always gets the Sorrento which sounds simple ( angel hair pasta tomatoes mozzarella and basil) but is always consistently great. Im a bit more adventureous and have tried nearly everything on the menu and am always impressed. Their filets have always been cooked to perfection and they have this prosciutto wrapped flank steak entree that is as good as it sounds. The food, the service, and the ambience are all great. The service here has always been horrible. But I would go for a couple things that I really liked on the menu here and there. One night I decided to stop there and get a piece of cheesecake to go. It was 9:45, they were open until midnight. One of the waitresses told me the kitchen had already been closed so they couldn't get me anything. There were two tables in the restaurant eating their dinner. So I guess she was telling me they wouldn't offer those tables currently dining dessert afterwards? And I wasn't asking them to cook me anything, just to get me a piece of premade cheescake, put it in a box, let me pay for it and leave. So within the next couple days I called and asked to speak to a manager or an owner. They took my name and phone number to pass on to the owner or manager and of course I never heard a thing from them. That was the last straw for me , I haven't been back and I will never go back. read more
