Okay, WOW! Such a fun happy hour spot! I came here with three friends on a Monday night and we were seated promptly on the upstairs patio. The ambiance is so cute - I genuinely felt as if I were on a beach. The drinks are awesome - we had the bartender's choice (rum-based) to start and two of my friends had an additional Banana Hammock (aesthetically impressive!). The Ahi Tuna Tostada and Pork Belly Taco were so flavorful! The pork belly was a little dry, but the presentation was cool. The ahi tasted so fresh alongside the sliced avocado! Best thing was service and the pina colada. I'd come here just for the drink. The fish is surprisingly decent considering it's in Colorado (I'm from La). Tostada was good. The fries great. To state the obvious, the space is gorgeous! From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're in a different world far away from Fort Collins. It's the perfect place for a date night or a girls night out. Our group was seated at a booth by the window and had a beautiful view of the holiday lights downtown. We didn't order food during our visit so I can't speak to that, but the drinks were delicious. I was driving so decided to go with a mocktail. I loved that it was served in what looked like an adult sippy cup in the shape of a flamingo. It was whimsical, fun, and on theme. Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great understanding of the drink menu. She gave us recommendations and plenty of time to decide what we wanted since our group was more focused on chatting than looking at menus when we sat down. I'd visit Sugar, Salt, Sand again. We came at 5 pm on a Saturday for a cocktail and a nibble . It wasn't busy but we were told we could only sit on the patio. It's 95 degrees out. There were a number of seats at the bar and several lounge seats that an hour later remain unoccupied. Outside they had several tables with umbrellas but apparently don't understand that you can tilt them to cut the sun. They seem to be set up better for colder weather. You can really tell the bar manager is leading the creative direction -- it shows in every detail. The happy hour offerings are solid, and the cocktails are genuinely fun. Thoughtful flavor combos, great balance, and beautiful glassware that makes each drink feel intentional instead of overdone. It's one of those menus where you want to try more than one just because everything sounds good. Wife and I went for our Anniversary (we told them how long we were married) since we thought it would be comforting being both born and raised on Oahu. We just visited Honolulu a few weeks ago and wanted to have something familiar and special. We ordered the Funghi pizza to share and ordered the spicy mayonnaise ahi and salmon poke. My wife got sick an hour after our dinner and we went straight home after. Ambience was ok, food was mediocre, and the staff was ok. We waited a bit to be seated and receiving our drinks. To my local kamaiana, I recommend you go to another restaurant and don't waste your time here. You will find better luck at L&L Hawaiian BBQ, Kona Hawaiian BBQ or even Marcuz Boba Tea Shop, Filipino & International Restaurant. They did not even offer any dessert or something acknowledging our anniversary (not that they needed to but would have been nice for a repeat guest). Pretty sad... No Aloha. Went in for lunch and conveniently slipped in during happy hour. Ordered a calamari to hopefully share, and although delicious, I overestimated the quantity for a happy hour serving (my fault hehe). Ordered the catch of the day, which absolutely slapped. Their fries were delightful. But their ceviche was pretty bland and a let down compared to everything else. Not impressed at all. I ordered a house margarita it was 120% ice. The ice was above the rim of the glass by 1 inch. The fill level was less or maybe a little more than half the glass. I got three sips out of the straw and it was empty. Service was extremely slow. The atmosphere is funky and the food is marginal at best. We've been here a few times now. The theme is SUPER cute, it really does feel like you're in Hawaii, which I love. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight. That said, the service has been veryyyy slow. The last time we went, it took about 30 minutes just for a server to come to our table, and then another 30 minutes to get our drinks and food (which ended up coming out at the same time). I know they're still fairly new and probably working through some kinks, but for now I think we'll take a break before coming back. read more

Ordered via DoorDash so I fully understand that you won't have the same food experience as dining in. We ordered the Hawaiian rice, spicy tuna poke and the churro donuts. The Hawaiian rice lacked flavor but was edible, the spicy tuna poke bowl was warm from being bagged with the hot items (warm poke tuna is not my thing), and the donuts were extremely hard and overcooked. I would not recommend but I hope others will have better outcomes when dining here. read more

Great atmosphere and a fun place to have a cocktail. Plenty of drinks to choose from. We had the Mai Tai and the Hemingway. Food choices are very sparse. We went to have the fish & chips and the shrimp scampi that were listed on the menu online but we were told both choices were taken off the menu. That really only left the brat, burger and sausage rice for entree choices. So we decided to order just an appetizer and got the conch balls. They were delicious. I'd order them again. There are several other appetizers and some "small plate specials" that were available. I think this place is great for a date night, meet-up with friends or a snack and great cocktail. There are 2 cute bench type swings to enjoy and are a fun change up from the typical table. The decors is beautiful with a tiki/ jungle like feel. The plants are huge, real and so pretty. They have a nice rooftop seating area that is open to the bar. Will be perfect for warm weather. The CUTEST place ever!!!!! When you walk through the door, you head up the cutest stairs. Once you get up... Wow!! Plants everywhere, the seating is adorable, cups/plates are perfect, so cute. Even the bathrooms were cute. We ordered the Iniki fries, tuna poke nachos, and spicy mayo ahi poke bowl. Food was pretty good, the fries were the star of the show! SO good. When waiter came by after we received our order, i asked for another drink, someone placed another food order, and then he took off, ignoring the 3rd person at table who wanted another drink. This is a beautiful building and location. The food and drinks are not doing it justice. We have sampled around the menu on 3 separate occasions. The fish and chips I had on the first visit, soon after opening, was not fried to a crisp. I assumed their fryer temp was off and they were still figuring things out. Might try those again just to see if it was a fluke. We had the Hawaiian fried rice recently and it was very poor. Like, take-it-off-the-menu bad. Didn't want to eat it. I would eat my own fried rice any day over this , and I'm just an amateur. We will tell anyone going there to not order it. The menu offerings look great but the delivery is falling WAY SHORT. I would only come back here for the drinks, and I say that with some hesitation. I ordered a spicy margarita that was $12 and only had coconut water and tequila (which is not what they advertised). I also had the Miami Vice which was far better and actually came as listed on the menu. The food situation is not good and needs some serious reworking. If they want to be successful in this place, consider being a bar only with no food options and really prioritize your pricey beverages or rework that food menu. When we walked in we fell in love with the atmosphere! The outdoor rooftop patio was to die for and didn't feel like old town at all! Our server was wonderful and the hosts were kind and communicative. I had the poke and it was super good so can't complain there. However be aware, we ordered a round of drinks and a round of shots. THE SHOTS WERE MORE EXPENSIVE though, at 14$ per lemon drop, and our drinks were 11-12$ per shot. So overall I'd come again! read more

Loud... food is abysmal... I ate there twice... had the burger (which tasted like burnt sawdust) and the polish sausage which was equally bad... both times.. yes the drinks are ok if you can get the bartenders attention long enough to order something. We were ignored bith times we went and we sat at the bar..... Their problem seems to be systematic of problems all over the service industry.. you have less than qualified personnel hoping that they can provide enough misdirection to overcome what's actually there. It's disappointing for sure. I know some of the people that work there and feel bad for them as I know they bring something to the table but unfortunately its the team that is being graded here. If your not a drinker this place is not for you and if you are its 50/50 from a service perspective. read more

This would be my go-to spot for date night or a place to take out-of-towners but... THE FOOD. It was so, so bad. The menu is kind of eclectic, I don't really know how to describe it. There are tacos, pizza, a hot dog, fried rice... which would probably be fine if it was all amazing. We were absolutely starving so we ordered a lot- started with the Baja ceviche, which looked really unappetizing when it arrived but I'm not one to judge food by its appearance. But it was reallyyyy wet and didn't have much flavor except "fishy water." The chips it came with were stale. Next we got the conch fritters which were better, but very greasy and seemed like they had just sat in the fryer too long. The steak tostada/taco was the best part of the meal. The mango fish taco was just kind of mushy and flavorless. The fried rice looked really pretty and was described by our server as "a little on the sweet side," but we got zero sweetness - it was super dry and the sausage and spam were burnt. The dish itself tasted like what I can only describe as the smell of the hog barn at the Iowa State Fair Please guys!
