Wow. I wish this place were near my home. Everything about it impressed me - including the way they dressed up a, shall I say, challenged location. The atmosphere was fantastic, right down to the chic-dressed staff and the appropriately quiet yet energetic keyboardist/vocalist playing. The bartender was very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable with good conversation (I was there alone). I started with a side house salad, which was simple and fantastic - the candied almonds were a nice touch. Followed with the Salmon dinner, which was perfectly cooked and with a fantastic flavor. For dessert, I had to have the souffle after seeing a few others nearby get it, and it did not disappoint. They let you know it takes 20-30 minutes to prepare, but anyone who has had a well made souffle - which this certainly was - would be willing to wait if they're not in a rush. All of this, for very reasonable prices - a place like this in Boston would be so full of itself and overpriced that you would only go for special occasions, if at all. I wish I could speak on their wine selection, which looked quite good, but I cannot drink at the moment so it was just a tease to me unfortunately. We ordered the: Scallops app (x2) Salmon Cheesecake app (we were mostly curious about the 'cake' part) Mussels app Lamb Special Shrimp & Grits Pork chop Lasagna Chicken Caesar Salad (this was HUGE, btw) Chocolate Souffle (super chocolate-y, if you're into that sort of thing) Tomato Soup Multiple Wines Multiple Martinis The stand outs were the scallops (cooked perfectly, so flavorful), the lamb special (again, cooked perfectly and super flavorful, super tender), and the pork chop (I didn't even like pork chops until I had this one, THAT good), and Shrimp and Grits. Everything was good, tho. It was hard to say who ordered the worst thing. Our server was great, she was perfectly attentive. She didn't seem to mind when one of us had a few too many martinis and got a little loud (for once it wasn't me). Thank you for that! I was scared, all the tables were completely empty upon my arrival, certainly not a good sign, as any well seasoned traveler such as myself knows well. . . BUT, it was 3PM on a Wednesday afternoon - a mere hour before the roll out of the dinner menu. Within minutes tables filled up like a salmon spawning ground proving this is a winning establishment. I have to say, I ordered the mussels - they were phenomenal!!! Very tasty and tender. Better than mussels I've tasted in renowned chef Cat Cora's kitchen. My compliments to the chef!! The first time I tasted what Domenic's had to offer was at The TASTE benefit while live tweeting for the organization. Strolling along with my friend and fellow writer, Lara, who writes Adventures Of A Happy Eater, we stopped by their booth to try the beef carpaccio they were serving. It was the best thing I ate there the entire night. Domenic's had been on my "to review" list for a long time, but after that bite, it shot up as a top priority. Upon my visit to the restaurant, I ordered the same thing. The beef carpaccio with truffle oil, minced red onions, capers and toast points was just as amazing as the servings I sampled at The TASTE. The bread was a little more than "toasted" on some slices, but I just pushed those aside and scooped up fork-fulls of the salty, savory slices of beef. I wished there was more of this dish to enjoy as well. You know you're eating great food when you're disappointed that it will end after a few bites. read more

Pretty good food and nice atmosphere. Not a super fancy place but on the other hand definitely more upscale than a typical "lunch place" so a good option for a romantic dinner. The food was not bad at all but not exceptional but really no complaints at all - I would recommend this place. read more

Had a great meal at Domenics! Had the Braciole with Yukon mashed potatoes and green beans, with a Mediterranean side salad and all was amazing. I was able to cut the braciole with a fork, and I paired it with a Super Tuscan red that was also good. Sat at the bar and service was excellent; attentive but not in your face or intrusive. I'm getting proven wrong time and time again about the quality of the food in Ft Collins restaurants. This little and unassuming joint is tucked in between a randon outdoor shop and something else in a strip mall that faces the wrong way from traffic, but it is doing everything right inside. Ryan, the bartender who's been there since day one (10 years ago!) was great. Friendly, just enough chatter and johnny on the spot with the wine, water and my meal. I had a couple glasses of the Sensual Malbec, it was decent for $8/glass. My entree was incredible. I had the Sausage Bolognese and I couldn't help contain my "Ahhhhs" and "Mmmmms" - I'm sure I sounded like a lunatic. Great balance of flavors, huge chunks of sausage and good noodles. Too bad they don't make their own pasta - that would put this place way up on top. The Parmesan cheese was grated so finely that it was transparent. So incredibly tasty, I have to find out how they did that. The greeting I got when I came in was a little weird - a "So do you want to eat something?" was what the young gal said to me. I guess they don't get a lot of people eating alone in FoCo. The space is very small so I imagine it gets crowded during Friday HH. Plenty of parking though. Recommended! read more

It's tough to be a wine bistro in beer-centric Fort Collins. Furthermore, when the heart of the restaurant offerings are in vintage Old Town, one might be quick to dismiss Domenics at first glance. Rest assured, this hidden gem is a delight for those who enjoy spending time in their dining experience and who crave an interesting and varied menu. The wine offerings by Domenic's are always delightful - a flight offers the chance to try several at an affordable price. The servers and bartenders have always been knowledgeable about the wines (and in the one instance where the waitress was unable to answer my questions, I received a free sample!). Domenics also offers the standard beer and cocktail offerings, but most would agree Domenics shines in their wine offerings. With regards to the food, I have always had excellent meals, whether it be a salad (the candied almonds in the house salad are incredible), a brick oven pizza, a risotto, or filet creation of the day. I for one really appreciate the Italian inspiration that doesn't seem patronizing or cliche. Also, the complimentary bread is delightful! The atmosphere at Domenics is very casual, with just the smallest hint of posh. It is a perfect setting for a first date, and it has been my go-to on a number of such occasions. I do think that it functions better for couples/adult groups more than a family environment (though, this could be the selfish single twenty-something in me!), but it should be noted that Domenics does have a kids menu! I think Domenics offers a great counterpoint to the Old Town scene with some offerings not offered elsewhere in Fort Collins - give it a shot, you won't regret it! read more

Just a bad experience all around. This restaurant use to be one of my favorites and now I won't be back. My risotto tasted like dry salty rice and my husbands mushroom ravioli was just okay. The owner of Vintages recommended this place to us for a date night. We were NOT disappointed! I got the sausage pasta and my hubs got the pizza. Both very delish. Loved the salad too. Wine was great. Took my parents there when they visited--they can be pretty opinionated of food--they loved it and can't wait to go back when they visit. We had a variety of menu items. This place is such a little gem. The service was wonderful- quick, pleasant, and attentive- and the drinks were just as good. Food was delicious as well: we had the sausage Bolognese (to die for) and the salmon (excellent, but nothing could distract me from the Bolognese), and were brought a chocolate souffle as a birthday treat. I don't typically order dessert, but for their dark, molten chocolate concoction with juuust enough mascarpone ice cream, I would happily make an exception on our next visit. It's not cheap, but a great proof that "you get what you pay for". I'm happy to pay what we did for what we got. read more

This place is a bit more on the expensive side, (I believe we paid around $130 for three people, including a bottle of wine), but it was worth every penny. We do NOT share food, but we shared that night since everything was spectacular and we all wanted to try what the others were having. We ordered prosciutto mac, pulled duck confit, chicken franchaise, and the bone in pork chop. All of it was divine. I highly recommend this place for dining in. If you are looking to get take out, the Zeus (pizza) is one of the best in town. read more

I recently went to Domenic's for the first time. Ordered the 'Seafood Pasta' for $17 and a glass of red. This was on a weeknight, so the dining room wasn't packed. So I expected to get my meal quickly. Wrong answer. 35 minutes later, my server brought me the pasta, but I was disappointed to find just 1 or 2 shrimp with a few mussels in my 'Seafood Pasta.' When I asked my server WTF was going on, she said, "Well shrimp and mussels are expensive. This is the portion." What a rip off. There are plenty of good Italian joints in Fort Collins. Domenic's isn't one of them. I'll never eat there again. And I certainly won't recommend it to anyone. read more

I'm sad. I have been to Domenics a few times and have always had a good experience. This time we went with my daughter, husband and granddaughter for family birthdays. Very disappointed. My shrimp and grits, which is normally so yummy, was cold, the grits were hard and it was a small portion. Same with my son-in-law's. The appetizer was tiny and cold and icky. Our service was good though, and I liked our server. I don't know what happened and am now afraid to return. Also, a friend just went there and was unhappy as well. I just hoped it was an off day. Dine here often but place is slow to learn. Filet is often undercooked and red wine is stored at room temperature. Let's switch those or order well-done to get to medium and bring a bucket of ice to compensate for improperly stored reds. Nice young staff compensates for pompous owners. read more

Don't let the strip mall location fool you! This is one of my very favorite spots to linger with a glass of wine (or a flight!) on a cold night. Seriously, I freaking love wine flights and Domenic's are awesome. I've tried the Pinot, Cabernet and Spanish flights and each has been interesting and tasty. I can't speak for much of the food, but everything I've had has perfected the balance between delicate and hearty and has always been flavorful. Last monday I went to Domenics. The food is great, the atmosphere charming, but waitress and service were terrible. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits, raviolis and two beers. The waitress asked us if we wanted soup or salad with our meal, which she never explained was extra. The correct term is would you like to "add" soup or salad to your meal. Our beers came out with the soup and salad. The bread came out after our main dish. For a $60 bill I expect a certain level of service. I normally tip over 20% and try to give restaurant staff the benefit of the doubt about why service is poor. I don't like to be up-sold when I go out to eat; I expect it from a used car salesman. I hope the red head with the nose piercing learns how to be honest in her dealings with customers, I felt like I was taken. We had another fabulous meal at Domenic's last night. Friends from Eaton joined us with their two teenage daughters. They had not been prior. We all had something different and only my plate had something left to take home...I needed to savor the taste again for lunch today. Dominic's has never let us down, from staff to food it's 5 star.. Domenic's is above and beyond many of the restaurants found in south Fort Collins. A locally owned restaurant, it never ceases to delight. Their happy hour is decent with many drinks, beer & wine to choose from, as well as small bite appetizers. The flavors never disappoint! My favorite dishes here are the scallops, the house salad (greens with a light lemon Olive oil, candied sliced almonds & tomatoes), the shrimp and grits and the pizza. It can, on occasion, be a bit slow due to the small kitchen size, but I've never had a meal here I didn't enjoy. The patio in the summer is always nice, too! read more
