This is my second time at Domenics. Food is very good but service and overall experience was poor both times. First time we were told there was a limit on how long we could stay as we did not have a reservation. We barely finished our meal and felt we were rushed to finish. This evening our server checked 3x to see if our credit cards were in the folder so she could cash us out and we could leave. This time we had a reservation. The reservation website gives you 90 minutes if a party of less than 4. We were two and barely at the hour mark. We felt pushed out, not welcomed and had not finished drinking our 1 glass of wine. Not acceptable to treat paying patrons this way. The ambience is loud and not comfortable to even hear the specials being read. The service is harried and one can tell the servers are rushed to get them in and get them out. My recommendation is to get a bigger place so you can accommodate the masses $$ you wish to have and then maybe you will treat your customers with more respect. read more

What a great experience! I popped in for lunch and my expectations were beat! The waiter was working all the tables and the bar himself but doing a great job. The soup of the day was a cold watermelon mango soup "with a little kick". It came with fresh watermelon in it as well and was delicious. It could have even had more kick but I like things spicy and it did have as described a little kick. On a hot day like today it really hit the spot. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was also fantastic. Slow roasted pork that was tender, great layering and lots of cheese which I love. The bread was nicely toasted from the oven but no hard. I ate everything and really enjoyed it. I didn't have any since I was headed back to work but they also have a great scotch selection which you don't often find. It's not just Johnny Walker. What a charming place with outstanding food. I had the pork belly appetizer with glazed pecans and butternut squash purée, then the salad with chicken, bacon and dates. Both were outstanding and full of flavor. Cocktails were equally outstanding. But the best part of the experience was my server Derek who treated me with such hospitality and attention that I felt as if he were welcoming me into his home. Since Covid we've spent a few hundred bucks a month ordering delivery from Domenic's (yes, we are lazy and spend way too much on ordering out). Tonight when we got our delivery one of our entrees was missing. I called the restaurant and was told there was nothing they could do - to just call NocoNosh for a refund. Here are some ideas they could have gone with instead: 1. Offer to make my food so I can come pick it up (which my husband was willing to do.) No mention of this. 2. Get off your lazy @ss and call Noconosh, make my food and have it delivered. 3. Offer to call Noconosh and request my refund. Instead they suggested I suck it up, go without my food and spend some time on the phone fixing their mistake for them. Nope. I should add that this was relayed to me after the nice young woman spoke to her manager - so this was how he told her to handle this. In the future, we'll be spending our money at establishments that actually give a sh!t about quality and their customers. read more

We went last week for carry out. Disappointed in the carry out boxes. Everything dumped into a box with no dividers. Three young ladies that were waitresses were scantily dressed with only halter tops on top. It looked more like beach attire than a fine dining restaurant would have as proper server's dress code. read more

Great staff...everyone greets you like an old friend. We've eaten here three times. Actually one of the times was me alone having a bottle of wine at the bar and entree, but enough times to get a sense of the culture. The room is inviting and warm. Just a great atmosphere. The first two visits were fantastic...very memorable. Pretty decent wine selection. Chefs specials are great. I'll review last night....we stopped in late for appetizers and bourbon. The selection is ok, though would be nice to see a little more variety....but won't complain as you will find a bourbon to fit your desires. We ordered bruschetta and small pizza. The bruschetta was delightful, though could have used a little more balsamic drizzled on them. We still fought over the last piece. :) The pizza on the other hand was not to our liking. The crust reminded us of what you would find at an airport Pizza Hut. Very thick and doughy. It was a white pizza with red onion and double prosciutto. Way too much garlic and over the top salty, again for our tastes. I will say, my review does not mean it's bad...as it is very flavorful. I should have asked....we're more of a Neapolitan pizza fan...or even a New York style. Again just a personal choice. This however does not detract from the experience. The food here was very good, not too heavy like some American-Italian restaurants but also decent sized portions unlike some 'high end' places. I'm not sure if it's intentional but the service level is more like when I was in Europe. They take your order and bring your food, but then leave you alone to enjoy your meal. No hovering, which to me always feels like I'm being rushed. Good wine and drink menu, they focus on having a few good options to chose from. Quality not quantity. The crab cakes were perfect, the sauce had the right amount of kick. The lobster ravioli was very tasty, I could clearly taste all the flavors rather than being overwhelmed with one. The chocolate souffle was delicious, I just wish it was bigger for my sweet tooth! I'll definitely be back. read more

Reservations policy is enough to make me never go period! They require a prepayment of $15 per person to reserve. Then they say they will deduct that total from your bill. What the heck? What if I'm not paying for everyone? I could see this for some super high end place ritzy beyond belief that you can never just walk into, but not some simple Italian restaurant in Fort Collins Colorado. That is not a customer friendly policy to anyone to pay up front to reserve a table. Get a better policy like Open Table that sends you reminders, no up front payments, and allows you to confirm reservation or cancel easily when you get the reminder. This solves your issues of no shows that you stated made you require prepayment for reservations. Punishing good customers or turning them away due to this policy because of other customers prior bad actions is not an appropriate policy. read more

So you're guaranteed not to see vampires or zombies here... the vampires run from the lovely dash of garlic in this Italian bar-grill's food while the zombies would be run down by the fast-moving wait staff! Friday and Saturday nights are probably not the best time to visit unless you hold off until 8PM plus when the after-work drinkers vacate. It is jumbo jet takeoff noisy on Friday early in the evening. I see they are putting some sound absorber panels on the ceiling -- more please and cover the entire ceiling! The rest of the week is likely less crowded and noisy. Catherine couldn't hear me to take my phone reservation at 5:30 and it was still louder at 6:45. Reservations are by phone although having a reservation appeared only to get me moved from one side of the date book to the other side at the end of the line for people waiting to be seated. OTOH, wait time was acceptable at 15 minutes. Wait staff were exceptional, young, and I'm certain they're exhausted at the end of their shift, too. Quick to take our order and checked in on us several times during the meal. Friendly and bright and observant -- my wife's water glass emptied and a passing wait staffer screeched to a halt, backtracked to a pitcher, and filled it up in only a few seconds. Almost forgot to mention the salad... typical restaurant salads are iceberg lettuce soaked in dressing. For their Spring Salad, Dominic's uses a spring-mix (completely fresh and I didn't find one bit of black in it and I do look!). Some mandarin slices, some sliced almonds and a light dressing and you've got enough salad to share. (see pic) Oh yes, we split an order of crab cakes and they were very good -- you could tell the meat from the filler, there was enough of it, it was not greasy at all, and had a faint spicy kick (might have been the sauce). I got the Braciole -- a generous serving of flat-pounded flank steak plus mozzarella plus roasted garlic rolled up and then given a generous dollop of marinara sauce. Served hot. The sauce wasn't that thin, bright red stuff some places serve: this was thick with chopped low-acid tomatoes, herbs and spices, and garlic. Yes, you can taste the tomato and the seeds. Yum. Mashed Yukon potatoes and some spinach (for the seasonal veggie). My fork is in the picture because I couldn't wait to start. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits and said it was wonderful. Braised shrimp over cheddar polenta (grits down home) with mushrooms, diced asparagus, smoky bacon and maybe a splash of wine. Sounds good even though I'm full! I do know that she didn't let me have any. See picture. Rest rooms were large enough and clean (on my side anyway). Parking is easy in the mall lot just outside. There is one short flight of steps up from the street level. Ambiance other than noise level was classy like an upscale Las Vegas eatery. Maybe too many tables in too small a room which just amplifies the noise off hard-surfaced walls, ceiling and floors. You guys are doing this to yourselves! We definitely had a mixed impression of the staff, some were very welcoming and nice, but our server didn't really engage with us/check on us at all--again, could be that they were short staffed. read more

This review is not about the quality of the food or the ambiance of the restraurant it is about a simple gift card being sent out. I live in Hartford my son and his wife Fort Colins. Their anisversary is next week. I wanted to surprise them with a $150.00 gift card to be sent to their home as I do not know when they would use it. I was told if I bought it the card would be placed in the register for him to pick up, as it was their policy to not to mail them. I explained what it was for and how much I wanted to spend and where I lived. It still was not possible to place a 50 cent stamp on it and mail it. I am glad they are doing so well that they can turn away a $150.00 sale. Alas after hearing how good Domenics was sad that I had to get the gift card elswhere. PS. Had the sausage bolognese, was good but was like none I had ever had before--I always thought bolognese was a tomato based sauce? Also, no bread or salad with the meal? Service was initially great then our table was ignored as the pace of the small restaurant picked up. It took almost 40 minutes to place our order. My dinner, Primavera and one glass of malbec cost me $30 which in my opinion is overpriced - there was no bread, no salad, just a reg bowl of unremarkable food. The heaters are there so they would be easy to turn on. They make a chocolate souffle that is amazing!!! Had such a disappointing meal tonight. We truly have loved this place for years Unfortunately it was so so bad and the cook did not care and laughed when the waitress told him our complaints The cook standing in the doorway must have not cared that we could see the interaction between himself and our waitress. The marinara sauce on the pasta was the most salty nasty tasting sauce. It was inedible. 3 out of the 4 of us got it and couldn't eat it. The ahi for 37 dollars was dry, overcooked and flavorless. The sauce was a smear of mayonnaise.. nothing tasty about it at all. The portions in general were tiny and not one of us enjoyed our meals. We ordered dessert which was a soufflé which came undercooked and raw like raw cake mix. So so disappointing. We've been coming for years and it held so many good memories. We always recommended it to friends but that's the last time we'll ever eat there unfortunately. No manager ever came to see why we didn't enjoy our meal. We left hungry and disappointed. The best part of the meal was our waitress. She was so nice and she took a few items off the bill. She was great. Still paid over 200.00 for a terrible horrible meal! Domenics is kind of in an odd spot being in strip mall and all. One would think it would be better suited in Oldtown. I wonder if this hurts their business being where they are at? It doesnt seem to. Domenics is a place that has a nice, soothing atmosphere where you can go with friends and just kick back and have a glass of wine or one of the local breweries beer off the tap. Domenics seems like a place where you go to drink mainly. Sure, they serve plenty of food here but it seems best suited to be eaten as a snack instead of a full course meal since the portions are relatively small and fairly expensive for what you get. I had the raviolis here and while I thought they tasted great I left fairly hungry still. I like eating places best that have good portion control where you leave just right and not overfull or still starving. read more

I came here because of the great Yelp reviews. I ordered the appetizer scallops (3 ct) and the shrimp and grits which both items were really yummy!!! As usual, my eyes are often bigger than my stomach especially when I skipped lunch so I couldn't finish my shrimp and grits entree even though I my mind is totally willing. BTW, the shrimp and grits entree has great flavor --- nothing better than light fluffy cheesy grits, accompanied by a variety of cut fresh mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, and bacon, and then topped off with a generous drizzle of a very light cream sauce. I've been to Domenic's several times over the last few years, mostly for wine flights and/or a dessert after having dinner elsewhere. I have probably had dinner there too, just nothing was very memorable. That is to say, until we ate there last night. We had just finished working a 3-hour wine event and were FAMISHED. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs...but we have plenty of leftovers which is a GREAT thing. We started with the Seared 3-ways appetizer ($13) which was pretty good. My boyfriend will order scallops almost every time if they're on the menu so he has come to have a strong opinion about what makes an excellent scallop. Domenic's scallops were pretty good. They were only lightly seared so they were missing that perfect caramelized crunchiness but they were hot, tender and flavorful. The three additions to the scallops were...interesting. Our favorite was the caramelized onions; delicious. The butternut squash puree was served cold (weird?) but it was tasty. The only weird one was the apple chutney which pretty much tasted like apple pie filling. Too sweet. We also ordered the Prosciutto and White Truffle mac & cheese ($12). First of all, it was a BIG serving - could easily be an entree. It was tasty - but it was the one item we both agreed we shouldn't have ordered because 1.) we simply had too much food and 2.) it wasn't AS GOOD AS the other things we ordered. I personally LOVE truffle oil but I also think the nuance of it has been lost; it's often overdone and overused. The chef went heavy on the truffle oil with this one. Probably wouldn't order this one again. Ohhhh, then the culinary heavens opened up and our pizza was delivered. This was the best part of my night (and did I mention that I had spent the previous three hours drinking and serving wine?! - hands down, this pizza wins out). We ordered the 16" White Lightning pizza ($22 - the smaller size is $18, more than twice the pizza for only $4...just a heads up) and we added spinach, Italian sausage and artichoke hearts. You guys. This pizza was a religious experience. The crust is crisp and buttery, not limp or soggy. The combination of mozzarella and feta was perfection. It was perfectly garlicky and just a hint of spice from the sausage. I was so disappointed that I had eaten too much of the prosciutto mac & cheese so I was too full to have more than one slice of this amazing pie. Unfortunately, this establishment was very underwhelming. I suggest only going there for appetizers. Simply put, it's overpriced by 10-15$ per plate. We ordered the risotto chefs special and the dish was....sad. In the special we got a bunch of filet tips that were not great, the shrimp tasted like feet, and the dish itself looked like, and tasted like, sailors slop. The chicken franciase was okay at best and was so soggy that you could not find the actual chicken. The Mac and cheese was fair. Since our first visit the quality of the meals has made a sharp decline. I wish that for the price of their dishes, this establish would do itself justice and not put out food that was under seasoned and poorly crafted. Side note, service was 7/10. read more

The Space Mountain of restaurants. It is a rare occasion that I get amazing food on top of great service. Truly one of the best of not "the" best restaurant in Fort Collins. The food here is simply of another word. They offer 4 differ chef specials that very day to day. The Chefs Special Tuna Filet was just amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned tuna filet served with a side of potato cakes and poached spinach. I will be having dreams about this dish. The service was top notch, the waitress checked in regularly. I never had an empty glass and the food was delivered with a matter of minutes. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall I can't say enough about this place. Sorry, but I don't understand the very positive reviews. It was expensive and my wife and I both left hungry. It was nice that they had tables on the patio and that all the staff were wearing face masks. However, their prices are strictly for the entree. No salad, no bread, no nothing. Just the entree. And, while the food was tasty, the portions were quite small. At an average price of $20 per entree, you ended up with half a plate of food. We certainly won't be going back. If you are into "upscale" and pricey food, then go for it. For me, Olive Garden is better. read more

Great food and service. My only issue is the wait is always quoted incorrectly, and I end up standing waiting for a seat for quite a long time. But the food is terrific. One of my favorite restaurants on the south end of town lost their attention to detail and possibly a loyal customer tonight. Our family of four ordered takeout. After waiting to find out if we could still get pizzas to go (a regular menu item), we ordered two pizzas, sausage bolognese, and a chicken bacon date salad. The first three orders were just right. The salad however was missing the chicken, the dates, no bacon to speak of, and the balsamic was plain (no maple). Completely missed the mark and left me hangry. read more

Okay yelp know this had nothing to do with COVID-19. So as forty years FoCo residents we pretty much have our top tier restaurants we frequent, Fort Collins has many outstanding restaurants. It's a great restaurant town my wife and I could literally write a blog about the FoCo restaurant scene. So on one Friday night after a long work week we were looking for a place that had a patio and would pour a good glass of wine that we had not been too. So we tried Domenics. Mistake. We called ahead and made a reservation and when we arrived we were told wait a few minutes and we'll get a table set outside. Well soon two tables opened up and we watched as wait staff, food runners, hostesses, walked by the table and didn't bus the tables. Okay fine no worries but as a waiter for years in my past life I'm like damn that's just lazy. Twenty minutes later the tables were finally bused and we went back to the hostess stand to get seated. Well, guess what they said well we need to seat a five top at those two tables (party arrived much later) , but we had a reservation. Umm well we can put you on a wait list.... Arghhh. Then it gets better the owner (I think) shows up and says I'll handle it. He then proceeds to walk away and ignore the situation. That's it we're done, Domenics couldn't even perform a basic function of the restaurant biz. We left. And BTW when we find a good restaurant we go back many times so Domenics lost a ton of money. And to wrap up we went to one of the top restaurants in FoCo, family Italian joint on prospect across from the Hilton. They were slammed five grub hubs on the counter as well as a 24 top. Guess what they bussed the table ASAP and sat us. They also nailed the good pour of wine, fantastic food and of course service. Domenics failed. read more

This is a hidden gem in Ft. Collins. Tucked away in a shopping center and unassuming. The food was fantastic and service also was great.

We went here to celebrate our 30 year wedding anniversary. We picked Domenic's because it is our favorite place to celebrate. So.... we were so very surprised when the food and the service were terrible. We ordered wine, mussels and the braciole. Our appetizer and entree were delivered within 1 minute of each other.... big pet peeve of mine. The mussels are usually incredibly good, but these were terrible. Most of them had not opened.... so either undercooked or bad. The sauce in the mussels is usually soooo good, but not this time. The bread, which I usually love, was brushed with oil that was clearly rancid. Awful. And, our entree came out cold. The potatoes that were served with the braciole tasted like they were leftovers. We didn't complain much to our server as she was no where to be found. But we did see her when she brought her check and we let her know the food was served cold. She just chuckled and said "Ya, right?" So, so very disappointing. read more

I love Domenics! The food is always great and the staff is nice. I am a big fan of the pizza -- its sublime! I would say that the only downside is that there can be a wait if you don't call ahead as it is a very small dining area. It can also be a little bit loud, but I guess that's a good sign! read more

After waiting almost 7 years to try this place we finally came in tonight. Amazing!! The attention to detail in this place is crazy good. From the minute we walked in, warm, friendly, and actually happy to see us. The drinks were good, the appetizers good enough to make you break your diet and risk an allergic reaction! My husband had the lasagna and said it was probably the beat he's ever had at a restaurant. I had the wild mushroom ravioli, and I did not want to take any home, because I don't want to share it!! A little neighborhood gem. Don't be turned off by the strip mall location. Cute, nicely decorated. Only about a dozen tables and then a nice bar. I had Duck Confit as an appetizer! Stellar. I then had Braciole, flank steak stuffed and rolled. Excellent. Both courses were served piping hot. Expected, but rarely occurs. Come here and have a great meal! read more

The meal was expensive for what I received. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was easy on the eyes and laid out well. Staff was prompt and friendly. I felt my wife and I should have received more wine for the 'glass' price listed; about a 1/4. My wife's lasagna was burnt at one end making it difficult to cut. In addition, we've had better lasagna; seem light and fruity. My gnocchi was hard in such a way, I believe it was bought at Trader Joe's and cooked in boiling water. The gnocchi dish lacked depth and character. I'm getting disappointed with more of the restaurants in Fort Collins, which I mostly don't review. Having located from Southern California, I'm spoiled with Italians making a gnocchi dish and lasagna all from scratch with generous proportions. So if you want to sit at the bar and have a drink, this maybe the place for you to unwind. But looking for that top notch Italian dish experience, I'm unable to recommend any as of yet in Fort Collins. read more
