I ordered an iced americano given it was a hot day around noon. I got my drink and went to add creamer and sweetener like I always do. And bam that's when I noticed this place was one of those we are going to force you to have what we believe is healthier for you. What do I mean. No Splenda no equal just that nasty truvia. I'm diabetic so I don't use sugar and truvia is just nasty. It tastes horrible and makes your drink taste horrible. Now mind you they will use all kinds of syrups with dyes and additives and sugars but nope not Splenda. That's bad for you. The 50 grams of sugar in a single vanilla latte is totally fine. We're ok with that even though that alone is over the recommended amount. But Splenda no we can't allow that. Will never be back.

This was the first location of Baba Java and has since expanded through the city. Ran my Omani entrepreneurs, this little coffee shop became quite popular over the years. The staff working here are mostly teenagers or college students, who are very attentive and professional despite their young age. The owner clearly picked out incredible folks to be here who make Baba Java feel both welcoming and well kept. The interior of the space is fairly basic coffee shop design, but admittedly, a little bit dated in 2026 and lacks the unique vibe of some other independent coffee shops. Window views facing the strip mall parking lot don't create much of an ambiance either. With that said, design is not the main thing to come here for. The coffee is excellent and priced very reasonably, offering a great value for an establishment of this sort. There is easy to access WiFi and an overall feeling of being welcomed. A solid little coffee shop that allows customers to support some local business owners instead of a big chain.

With the prices being what they are, I was not keen on the extra charge for an alt milk. There is plenty of indoor seating and a merchandise area where you can buy coffee, equipment, and shirts. They sell Proud Mary Coffee, as well as Rowan Coffee Roasters (which they currently use for drinks). Laptops are not allowed on the weekends-- gotta love that intentional disconnect from technology to connect with humans irl. :)

It was so surprising- It had a sweet and fruity taste, and I asked the owner about it and he said it's a special type of coffee fermented with fruits and that he cycles through different blends for the iced coffee often. I love the intention and creativity put in to the process. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor and he offered me to try the cold brew instead, which was very kind and a relief because I hate telling anyone I don't like a drink! The cold brew was much more up my alley, very strong and dark and it was great without any syrup or creamer. I love the interior of the shop and the sense of comfort you get being in there. They had a ton of coffee beans And I asked the owner which would be the best dark roast and he picked one out for me that's been pretty good so far (although not as dark as I expected). My friend got a dirty chai and I don't think she was too thrilled with it. But I would definitely come back to try some new things!

I was specifically super excited to try their seasonal matcha special, which was made with horchata (also from Salud!) and strawberries, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, we walked in only to find they were out of the supplies needed to make the drink. :( I was caught off guard and didn't know what to order, but the barista recommended a latte with maple flavor so I went with that. The interior was clean and spacious and had a relaxed and calm but energetic feeling to it. Good place to hang out or work quietly. There's a self-service area to spruce up or fix your drink or grab lids or stir sticks. Service was nice and my drink came out quickly. It was pretty good but not really the "right" drink for me. I like my stuff on the sweet side and this was much more balanced and coffee-forward. That said, it held its own against my sugar-craving taste buds and I drank most of it, which is usually the hallmark of good brew, lol. I don't really blame them because I blanked on what to order and just went with what was suggested. It's probably a great suggestion for lots of other folks! Any time I'm traveling, I like to try the cortado or an equivalent drink at a shop like this, and I'm happy to say Filter's would rank in the top 10, maybe top 5. The quality and freshness of the beans was obvious from the rich, thick crema on my drink and the milk was steamed just the way I like it. There's a fair amount of seating inside, charming decor, and my drink came out to me very quickly on a Wednesday morning around 8am.
