Punch Love Coffee is a super cute shop! The shop prides themselves on having great coffee and engaging conversation, and I can attest that I had a lovely conversation with the barista. I felt like the prices were a bit higher than other shops, but I'm one to pay the price if it means the coffee beans are quality and that the staff is paid a living wage. With the prices being what they are, I was not keen on the extra charge for an alt milk. There is plenty of indoor seating and a merchandise area where you can buy coffee, equipment, and shirts. They sell Proud Mary Coffee, as well as Rowan Coffee Roasters (which they currently use for drinks). Laptops are not allowed on the weekends-- gotta love that intentional disconnect from technology to connect with humans irl. :) read more

This place is not for coffee noobs ‍ their menu is great and the flavors they have looked so good. I got an iced coffee with dark chocolate syrup. It was so surprising- It had a sweet and fruity taste, and I asked the owner about it and he said it's a special type of coffee fermented with fruits and that he cycles through different blends for the iced coffee often. I love the intention and creativity put in to the process. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor and he offered me to try the cold brew instead, which was very kind and a relief because I hate telling anyone I don't like a drink! The cold brew was much more up my alley, very strong and dark and it was great without any syrup or creamer. I love the interior of the shop and the sense of comfort you get being in there. They had a ton of coffee beans And I asked the owner which would be the best dark roast and he picked one out for me that's been pretty good so far (although not as dark as I expected). My friend got a dirty chai and I don't think she was too thrilled with it. But I would definitely come back to try some new things! read more

This place is tucked away in Avondale next to Big Spoon Creamery and is well worth a visit. Birmingham has a lot of coffee spots that are doing a lot of things, but underneath all the trends the most important thing will always be that the drinks are built on quality espresso pulled by a good barista through a well calibrated machine. Punch Love is doing just that. Whatever you order from a cortado to an iced flavored latte will be built on top notch espresso and therefore delicious. It's a small business with a simple, casual layout and as far as I can tell is operated by the owner most days. It's consistent, it's reliable, it's got a nice outdoor seating area and some tables inside. Quiet and calm, dogs welcome, and...and...they have a variety of empanadas that are available until 2pm. The coffee is top notch, the empanadas are the icing on the cake. Honestly one of the better shops in town. Give it a shot. read more

Awesome little coffee shop, great vibe. Right next to Big Spoon Creamery in Avondale. I ordered from their seasonal menu and had to laugh at the "put it in reverse terry" drink. One of my favorite videos. I opted for the butterscotch latte, which was absolutely scrumptious. This was my first time here! it's getting hard to find coffee shops I haven't been to yet -- and I will definitely come back here. Service was quick and easy, the staff was very nice and parking was a breeze. No laptops on weekends! Love it. Foster that community and connection. I believe they operate on a no-tip system. They never spun the iPad around for me to tip, I think it's built into the price. Respect. Get your workers what they deserve. They also have really cool merch. I'd have to hang out there enough to not be a poser, but I totally have my eye on a sweatshirt. They have an assortment of interesting merchandise here. Skincare, niche snacks, coffee. Great coffee and atmosphere. I always bring my pup here to get work done and grab a latte. It's not overly crowded like other places which is nice. A good place for a cool retrieve during the summer. The lattes are good but not my absolute favorite. I look for a specialty latte when not making at home, which they don't really have here. Small coffee shop around the corner from Big Spoon Creamery. A lot of coffee options, I've never seen latte slushies so I had to try one on this warm spring day. It did NOT disappoint it was so so good & refreshing. They had caramel and mocha option today. They had breakfast empanadas we didn't try but a lot of people were ordering. Had some nice merch hanging for sale (sweatshirts, coffee, etc). A really great spot for coffee to-go or sit in and study/catch up with friends. Punch Love is a spot to nerd out on coffee. The multiple roasters (all options you really can't find anywhere else) available in the retail section tells you that as you walk in. It's an espresso based menu here with a drip. Everything is dialed in perfectly and you can tell has been painstakingly crafted to taste great. I'd suggest that even if you love your milk based drink that you try one of the single origin espresso shots. There's always something unique here, and you'd be surprised with how much you like it. Plus you get some chocolate (and if my previous mention about needing out told you anything, no it's not Hershey's, but way better!) to go with it and it always compliments the espresso. read more

Atmosphere: Punch Love Coffee is a small, bright shop in the Makebhm space. There are several tables outside but only a few small tables inside, so it may be more difficult to come with a larger group. The interior is minimalistic with plants scattered around the cafe, as well as a giant monstera! Service: The owner/barista was very nice! One thing to note is that they don't have wifi, so this might not be the optimal place for working remotely. Food: We ordered a vanilla cappuccino and regular cappuccino. They were both served at a nice temperature -- not too hot or cold. The vanilla was a bit on the sweet side, but we still very much enjoyed our drinks. Overall: We loved how intimate and refreshing Punch Love Coffee felt. The drinks were good, and the vibes were positive and friendly. Wonderful service, the ambience is super relaxed and the cappuccino I got was incredible! Super great milk texture but the espresso in the cap was incredibly flavorful. You could taste the fruit but barely any tartness which made the flavor of the cappuccino so balanced comfy and DELICIOUS. Friendly service in a small footprint coffee shop (an outdoor courtyard is available also). This coffee shop seems very deliberate in ethically sourcing their products, which is very cool. The guests who were there seemed to be regular or at least familiar. You won't necessarily find all of the same makeups of the chain coffee shops, so be prepared to be adventurous and make adjustments in some of the popular drinks. This coffee is anything but the ordinary. It tastes so good and it's just so unique. They have some really nice things to buy in there too like shirts and candles and such. It's small but it's in a great location tucked away in Avondale and the owner is full of personality. I've never seen a business run so smoothly and the owner be so passionate about his coffee. What peaked my interest about this place was the name. And I love how it got it's name. The name "Punch Love" is what sealed the deal for me.
