This is absolutely our favorite coffee. Its a coffee shop and the coffee is better than all the others. Not much else to say.

Known for its middle eastern style offerings including Yemeni coffee and other kinds of coffee (hot or iced), pastries, crepes, and ice cream you will find it hard to find something you won't like. The place itself is a relaxed environment where you could study or catch up with friends. I tried the iced Aden latte (espresso, milk, pistachio and lavender) and it's the best coffee off of lakeshore. None of the flavors were overpowering the others. I also ordered a biscoff crepe and a sabaya. The sabaya was flaky and crispy, smothered in delicious honey. It wasn't the thickest sabaya but I enjoyed it! The biscoff crepe was so decadent. The crepe itself was soft and chewy, the perfect texture for such a delicious crepe. The fruit given with it also paired well with the drizzled sauce. I am looking forward to supporting this locally owned spot more often!

I was excited to try the baklava as they looked beautiful. However, while the flavor was very good, the texture was all wrong. An authentic baklava is supposed to be crispy, flaky, and crunchy, especially on the top layers. While it is heavily soaked in sweet syrup, it should never be soggy, mushy, or completely soft. Unfortunately, the ones we had tonight were indeed soggy and completely soft.

The latte was good, and I'll definitely be back to try that specialty cappuccino. I also ventured out front to Huey Sandwich Shop, a food truck set up on a bed of turf with plenty of seating and a covered awning. Such a cute space! I, however, was anything but cute while eating my sandwich I don't want to speak too soon since this place is still new, but the hot Italian sandwich might be the best sandwich I've had in the Birmingham area so far. The bread, sautéed onions and peppers, and whatever sauce they put on it took it completely over the top. I also love that they're open for Saturday lunch! It's surprisingly hard to find good lunch spots around here on weekends. Can't wait to watch this business grow and flourish!

I like that there's inside and outside seating depending on your vibe. Be prepared to sit in either because they do get busy especially Saturday mornings (we stood in quite the line). The food is good. If I could do a 4.5 star I would simply because there was hair in our burrito, but that's on us for not mentioning it to management. It's worth mentioning that there's a park nearby if you do visit with your kiddos and need something to do after.

A bold claim, no? Maybe that's all you need to know... but I love writing about coffee shops so don't stop here. I love real deal coffeehouses (yes, in a house) and it's so cozy in here. I didn't stay to work because every seat was taken both times I came in (late morning), so get here early or perhaps late, if you want a seat in the middle of the week. The baristas couldn't be nicer. They took their time and chatted with customers, a rarity in those crowded coffee chains. Do check out those seasonal lattes (I mean, for February, a cherry blossom latte? Say less). My favorite is on the regular menu, a salted rosemary latte and it's literally perfect. I adjusted the sweetness level to be less so, and I loved the notes of floral rosemary and coffee. Pro tip: skip the line and order ahead!

They have outlets at not all, but several tables, so it can be a nice place to bring your computer. Music isn't very loud, so not too distracting. Parking can be difficult sometimes - there are only a few spots behind the building and a few in the front. Other than that, there is street parking on the one way next to the building, or on 18th (main drag through downtown Homewood). They have a drive-thru, but it's a bit odd at first glance. You either enter from the one way street paralleling it or from the alley that runs behind the building. It looks like you're driving up onto the sidewalk! If the line of long, it might be a bit of a wait, so I wouldn't count on it if you're in a hurry. I always get an Iced Blueberry Vanilla latte, and it's ~$7. Their rotating seasonal menus have some pretty interesting combinations that I always like to try!

The flavor was definitely there, which I appreciated, but the crust was a little tough. I also grabbed a couple of brownies. They were good, but I was disappointed by the presentation, tightly wrapped and squeezed into plastic wrap. I came to Alabama expecting Southern bakery quality, Southern prices, and Southern hospitality. Instead, the brownies gave me a middle of the road presentation at Jersey prices. Would I go back? Now that's the question. I would give the pecan pie another chance, but hopefully with a crust that is a little more cooperative.

It seems to be more of a City Bowls location that serves Honest Coffee rather than a standalone coffee shop, but that didn't take away from the experience. I ordered the seasonal latte, **The Southern**. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite for me. The flavor felt a little muted, so I asked if they could add some extra Roosevelt syrup. The staff was more than happy to accommodate, and the additional syrup made a noticeable difference. While I probably wouldn't order *The Southern* again, I'm definitely interested in coming back to try the **Bootlegger** or **First Lady**--both sounded much more up my alley. The standout of my visit was the customer service. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me find something I'd enjoy. They asked thoughtful questions about my flavor preferences and made recommendations instead of just taking my order, which I really appreciated. The shop itself was clean, welcoming, and located in a convenient area. Parking is plentiful nearby, though you may have a short walk depending on where you park. Overall, even though my drink wasn't a home run, the excellent service and inviting atmosphere made this a positive first visit, and I'd gladly stop by again to try another latte.
