I was specifically super excited to try their seasonal matcha special, which was made with horchata (also from Salud!) and strawberries, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, we walked in only to find they were out of the supplies needed to make the drink. :( I was caught off guard and didn't know what to order, but the barista recommended a latte with maple flavor so I went with that. The interior was clean and spacious and had a relaxed and calm but energetic feeling to it. Good place to hang out or work quietly. There's a self-service area to spruce up or fix your drink or grab lids or stir sticks. Service was nice and my drink came out quickly. It was pretty good but not really the "right" drink for me. I like my stuff on the sweet side and this was much more balanced and coffee-forward. That said, it held its own against my sugar-craving taste buds and I drank most of it, which is usually the hallmark of good brew, lol. I don't really blame them because I blanked on what to order and just went with what was suggested. It's probably a great suggestion for lots of other folks! While I probably wouldn't order *The Southern* again, I'm definitely interested in coming back to try the **Bootlegger** or **First Lady**--both sounded much more up my alley. The standout of my visit was the customer service. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me find something I'd enjoy. They asked thoughtful questions about my flavor preferences and made recommendations instead of just taking my order, which I really appreciated. The shop itself was clean, welcoming, and located in a convenient area. Parking is plentiful nearby, though you may have a short walk depending on where you park. The staff working here are mostly teenagers or college students, who are very attentive and professional despite their young age. The owner clearly picked out incredible folks to be here who make Baba Java feel both welcoming and well kept. The interior of the space is fairly basic coffee shop design, but admittedly, a little bit dated in 2026 and lacks the unique vibe of some other independent coffee shops. Window views facing the strip mall parking lot don't create much of an ambiance either. With that said, design is not the main thing to come here for. The coffee is excellent and priced very reasonably, offering a great value for an establishment of this sort. There is easy to access WiFi and an overall feeling of being welcomed. A solid little coffee shop that allows customers to support some local business owners instead of a big chain.

Not too much hustle and bustle, and plenty of quality caffeine. The employees that I've encountered have been friendly and prompt so the service is great. Additionally, the business serves as a nonprofit with the goal of addressing issues surrounding homelessness so that's a big plus.
