The staff was more than happy to accommodate, and the additional syrup made a noticeable difference. While I probably wouldn't order *The Southern* again, I'm definitely interested in coming back to try the **Bootlegger** or **First Lady**--both sounded much more up my alley. The standout of my visit was the customer service. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me find something I'd enjoy. They asked thoughtful questions about my flavor preferences and made recommendations instead of just taking my order, which I really appreciated. The shop itself was clean, welcoming, and located in a convenient area. Parking is plentiful nearby, though you may have a short walk depending on where you park. This was the first location of Baba Java and has since expanded through the city. Ran my Omani entrepreneurs, this little coffee shop became quite popular over the years. The staff working here are mostly teenagers or college students, who are very attentive and professional despite their young age. The owner clearly picked out incredible folks to be here who make Baba Java feel both welcoming and well kept. The interior of the space is fairly basic coffee shop design, but admittedly, a little bit dated in 2026 and lacks the unique vibe of some other independent coffee shops. Window views facing the strip mall parking lot don't create much of an ambiance either. With that said, design is not the main thing to come here for. The coffee is excellent and priced very reasonably, offering a great value for an establishment of this sort. There is easy to access WiFi and an overall feeling of being welcomed. A solid little coffee shop that allows customers to support some local business owners instead of a big chain.

We came for the popsicles because we had a coupon for free one. The popsicles are overall really good. Handmade and homemade. You can have them dipped and/ topped. Overall I've been to this particular shop twice. The popsicles are priced about $6 a pop and that is not including the tip you will be asked to give. I really have to go home and break piggy bank to eat pops here.

I had a great first experience at Filter coffee today! Upon walking in, I was greeted by the…read moreemployee at the counter with a smile. When I went to the counter, I took a moment to look at the menu, and told him it was the first time in. He took the time to explain the signature flavors, the various ways to order a drink, and even explained the different notes of the coffee beans they offered. I ended up ordering a vanilla cardamom cappuccino to go. The barista brought the coffee to my table, which I found extremely personable and kind, even though they had multiple orders to make. The coffee had great notes of cardamom and vanilla without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. Even though I got it to go, the drink stayed warm for quite some time, and was in a compostable container. In addition to this, all UAB students actually get 10% off, just make sure to show your Blazer ID. One thing I noticed for future visits is that the tables are quite small, so it may not be the best place to do work or study, especially not in group settings. While it was a pretty quiet space that could be good for studying, the seating is not the most conducive to studying. In addition to this, Filter Coffee is located at 5 points, which makes parking difficult, but that is not the company's fault, just something to note if someone decides to visit. Overall, I definitely see myself going back to Filter and highly recommend it to anyone if they around the 5 Points area for the friendly staff, great coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere.

I could distinctly taste the sweet syrup and milk but the coffee seemed to take more of a backseat. I do prefer a stronger iced latte and do plan on returning to try a different drink.
