Terrible. I bought a cake for my daughter's birthday and it was disgusting. It was chocolate as cherry. The cake tasted like a box cake with faucet water taste and when you cut the cake it will crumble. I would never buy a cake there again nor I will recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to the area a little over a year ago. We walked into Domingo's one day and have been regulars ever since. The food is extremely reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. From the baked goods to the empanadas to the breakfast and lunch sandwiches and specials, I haven't had anything that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. That being said, there are many great places to eat. What sets Domingos apart is the consistency. At least twice a week visits for a year and not a bad meal yet. Even further, the owner and his staff are wonderful. It's obvious that he demands perfection from his staff, and is extremely attentive and friendly to every guest that walks in the door. Met up here with a long lost friend for a bite to eat. She promised I would like the food and she wasn't kidding! I fell in love right then and there. I had a passion fruit (maracuya) smoothie, a pernil and avocado arepa, and a chocolate ganache cake. Everything was delicious and the staff was very nice. I was so happy to find a place where I could experience the Venezuelan flavor again (I spent 10 years of my childhood in Caracas). I have gone back a few times since to get pastries, empanadas, and cachitos. They don't disappoint!! :D Today, I stopped by and got a menu and was quite happily surprised to see Hallacas in it!! :D I haven't had Hallacas in over 27 years!!... Can't wait to try them. I loved this place. I made a phone order for breakfast one morning and the gentleman on the line was thorough, wanting to make sure that all the order details were correct. Once I arrived to pick it up, the woman at the register was very sweet. It smelled incredible there that I ended up asking for a lot more food to try out. The gentleman who had taken the phone order was so funny joking, "don't get my mom nervous" because of all the extra orders. Perhaps it's family run... Stumbled upon this place, with the wife, after one of our favorites was closed today. All I can say is they did us a favor by being closed. I had the Cachapa w/pernil and muenster cheese (other meat & cheese options available). The wife got the baked Beef Empanada. One bite and I knew this would become one of our "go to" spots. Not sure what was happier...my taste buds or my stomach! The staff was very friendly and even threw in a sample of their green sauce to try. That green sauce just took it to another level! The best chicken empanad's I've had and their cappuccinos are delicious. I have not tried anything else on the menu but it looks very fresh.

I just want to say that this bakery did a beautiful job with my boyfriend's cake!! I needed a Barcelona jersey cake and they definitely excelled at my expectations. They definitely worked with my budget and they were very professional and understanding. Not only did the cake look good but it tasted great!! I was amazed honestly. This review is for the tres leches cake and the caramel filled churros. It took almost 3 hours to go from Queens to Kearny on the day that we decided to venture out that way. After stuffing ourselves with BBQ, we weren't quite ready to face the traffic on the way home, so we asked Yelp what else there was to do in the area. Well, turns out there's more eating to be done! So after ogling all the delectable selections, we settled on tres leches cake and the churro. The churro was warm and surely one more reason I'll eventually end up with diabetes, but I loved every bite. The cake was DEEEELICIOUS. If it was socially acceptable, I might have gone back for another slice, but you know. I am looking forward to trying their other treats, and I have to say that the service was very friendly as well, so they'll certainly see me again sometime. I am sadly disappointed by the service, a simple request for hot sauce to accompany the empanada seemed to go forgotten and when asked again, the wrong one was brought out twice. This bakery is almost directly across the street from Dunkin Donuts and definitely worth the trip across Kearny Ave. The food and bakery items are superior to DD and reasonably priced. The cakes are from what I've been told from 2 co-workers are excellent and they look it. This is from my experience a well run and welcome addition. Try it out and you to will become a fan. The place can get a bit cramped and you might want to avoid at lunchtime on school days, but otherwise you should support this business. read more

Can't say enough good things about this shop. Picked up a Chantilly cake (peach & dulce de leche filling) here for a friend's birthday. (Yum!!) The cake was generously sized for the price ($25) but let's just say there was none leftover! (Most of us had a second slice!) :) The owner was so friendly and nice as was his staff, such a warm neighborhood atmosphere in the shop. Took a few empanadas and pastries and a cappuccino to go as well and everything was super fresh and delicious. The prices were very reasonable, better than expected and than other nearby bakeries (which are often not as good and whose customer service is lacking) and the quality here was on point. I would definitely recommend his place to everyone. Nice to have found a great local business I can support (and that's what I'll tell myself next time I want some pastries)! Domingo's is honestly one of the best places to eat in Kearny! My wife and I go multiple times a week for their empanadas and coffee. The green sauce that accompanies the empanadas is amazing. This is a family owned bakery with a great staff and baked goods. Their baked goods are delicious and freshly made. I come here all the time for the lunch and coffee. They also have some traditional Latin dishes. Their chicken soup is amazing! Also their Cuban sandwiches are the best in the area, just my humble opinion. We ordered egg and Taylor ham on a Portuguese roll, cheese arepa, coffee, and a Lucuma smoothie through yelp delivery. Everything was delicious. The egg was cooked perfectly. The staff at Domingo's is always so friendly and attentive and Domingo himself is focused on keeping the customer satisfied. By far the best in the area, their Portuguese croissants and breakfast pastries are special, although we have never been disappointed with anything we have bought here. Their staff does a great job with their specialty cakes and are willing to work with you to be sure they are made just as you order them. Domingo's just started making really good donuts, and unlike those you buy in chain stores and supermarkets, these are non-greasy and really tasty. If lived in Kearny for quite a few years now and this is the best bakery in town! Their food and pastries are well made and fresh and you can taste when u take a bite. I'd give it 5 starts but when they get busy, the servers are all over the place and people who walk in 10 min after, are getting served first. It can be quite chaotic.
