I first heard of this bakery from a family friend and I had to come try it out! As soon as you walk in, you're immediately exposed to a world of sweets, treats and baked goods. The front staff works fast and efficiently, which is great because this place gets super busy in the morning-noon hours. They don't mess up your order or fold over even when there's a lot of customers trying to get in and order. Considering this was my first time here, I wanted to try some variety bakery menu staples to taste. I ordered croquetas de jamon (croquettes), pastelitos de carne (Cuban Picadillo-filled pastry) and toasted bread with butter! I wanted to also order and try the papa rellena (fried stuffed potato) but was disheartened to learn that they actually don't make and sell those at this bakery. I was really impressed with how consistently good the food was. The pastelito de carne (Cuban picadillo-filled pastry) was amazing and easily the best part of what I ordered. The bread with butter was toasted, but still soft and buttery on the inside which means it was made well. The croquettes were decent but could be better. If I were to order a variety of foods again, i'd maybe substitute them out and try something else like an Empanada or guava pastry. Overall, this bakery, the staff and the food was great!

Such delicate design and so delicious!

It is difficult to find such quality, variety and service as it is found at La Gran Via Bakery on 48th St, Union City NJ... Legitimate Cuban Bakery! The very best in the area and most likely in the state of NJ. The best pastries and cakes as well as most delicious pasteles de carne, croquetas, empanadas, flans, etc... Your celebration will be a success and your guests will be amazed!

Definitely one of the best bakeries in New Jersey! I stopped by here on a Sunday morning and it was so busy but in less than two minutes I was attended and in less than 5 minutes I was in and out. The staff is very friendly and have a great attitude. I was able to talk to one of the family members that owns this business and they were very genuine and gave me the history of this bakery, which was very impressive. The empanadas or "pastelitos", as some people call it, were literally the best I have ever had. They were truly full of flavor and stuffed, there was no extra air in the empanadas. The croquetas were so delicious! My mouth just got watery thinking about them, to be honest. I ordered a couple of more pastries but I won't give them away, just know that they will blow your tastebuds away, that's how much I enjoyed them! I think I'm gonna drive out 40 minutes to this bakery once a month... yes, that's how good all their food is!

The ladies working here were so kind and gracious about it, explaining how to order the cinnamon donuts in advance and they freeze well if you order a large quantity, so I purchased an apple cinnamon caramel scone instead. I ate it the next day and it was very good. I appreciated that it was a scone and not too sweet. There are chunks of apple in there with a definitive cinnamon presence. The caramel is drizzled over the top. It would go well with coffee or tea, particularly chai. There are other offerings here and if you see the cinnamon donuts, do not pass them up. 3.5 stars, but I am certain that could be revised upwards if I sample more of their baked goods.

I'm not gluten free but love any and all sweets. And I have so many GF people in my life. We were all patiently awaiting their grand opening and let me tell you: it was worth the wait. I stopped in shortly before they closed to pick up a box of cookies to bring to said gluten free friends. I got a mix of the sugar cookies, chocolate chip and sea salt caramels. All are incredible and none give the slightest hint that they are made to be GF. Crazy moist (Oy, sorry if you hate that word, but they were MOIST), soft and flavorful. The sugar cookie stole the show for me but I don't think you'll find a cookie you don't like. They had so many lots of vegan options as well if that's something you're on the hunt for. I can't wait to stop in again and try more of their cakes and sweet treats. Happy to have you in Mile Square!

I got the original cinnamon roll and the April special, which was carrot cake. Also got a strawberry shortcake matcha. The rolls are big! Worth the price and wait in my opinion. I preferred the original over the carrot cake. The carrot cake roll had some big pieces of carrot lol a bit unexpected because I assumed the carrots would be a bit more finely grated. but not bad! the carrot taste is just a lot more prominent. strawberry shortcake matcha was good, but I think the cinnamon rolls are the real star here. There's a good amount of seating. Staff is very kind. Def want to come back to try the other special cinnamon roll flavors in the coming months!

We also got just plain oatmilk latte and brewed coffee as well as some cookies (smores, confetti) and all were pretty good! not to mention the latte arts were perfect and service was friendly! Loved that they have a separate space for little kids to play (which you pay $7 for). Im sure the parents appreciate this - having a place for coffee while also letting smaller kids enjoy. They have babycinno too! Parking can be hard as its street parking only but there are some garages available if you dont mind walking a bit. Would love to return someday for a sit-down experience.

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!

Place is a hole in the wall to the point that I walked right past it. Lone server inside was very friendly. Definitely a 'get your shit and go' kind of place, but what do you expect with Hoboken real estate. Got a red eye over ice, which was slightly burnt but still good. For food I tried the La Rustica sandwich, which has proscuitto, stracchino cheese and truffle cream on homemade bread. The bread was great and I could've had just that. Decent amount of proscuitto however the price ($16) justified that. Cheese didn't do much for the sandwich, as it was outmuscled by the proscuitto and just added a touch of cream. Truffle was similarly lost. All in all could do better, could do worse. Donut bites, on the other hand, were freaking money. Got 3 of the ones with custard and should've gotten a dozen. That made the place itself. Lots of other interesting things here worth trying. Wish I could a sandwich with mozzarella as there were plenty of others that looked good too. Definitely would give this another shot, as there's some good stuff here!
