Considering Venezuela's Portuguese community is the second (or third) largest in the western hemisphere, after Brazil (of course) - numbering almost as many individuals with Portuguese ancestry in the United States, it's no surprise that this Venezuelan bakery is located near the large Portuguese community in metro New York City (Jersey-side). I thought the coffee was good, the hot chocolate was just okay (I prefer the ones coming out of Venezuelan chocolate shops), but the plethora of Venezuelan dishes here, and the pastries, are where the place shines. As for the fried stuff, they're great when they're freshly made. The place is filled with goodies in the display case, and along the walls, from floor to ceiling, it seems. This un-fussy spot is popular with locals, Venezuelans and non-Venezuelans, as it seems to me to be always crowded. And during December, I'm always impressed to see a constant flow of people coming in just to grab their pre-ordered the traditional Venezuelan Christmas bread pan de jamon (ham-bread). Domingos is a home run. I stopped in recently while on a walk and I was pleasantly surprised how good everything was. They have a little outdoor setup with a few tables, chairs and even an umbrella. The ladies behind the counter were more than accommodating. They have a pretty extensive menu which took me a minute to look at and then a ton of dessert options in their display case. I decided to get some empanadas to try and they were absolutely delicious. The chicken and cheese was my favorite but they were really all delicious. They serve them with this green hot sauce that you absolutely cannot skip out on! It's creamy and just the right amount of spice for me - which is not too much hahaha. They also have a great cake decorator working for them. I plan on coming back and ordering a cake in a few weeks. Can't wait to try their Cuban sandwiches and arepas as well! read more

Very weird experience and I didn't like the treatment. I called Domingo's to place a pick up order the value of my order was over $40. Right before the lady was about to repeat my order back to me, she said "you're going to pay right?" I said yes and follows up with "I need a card now and you need to bring a bag" aside from the nasty tone, the request for the bag was just strange. I'm ordering over $40 worth of baked goods, I can't get a plastic bag? Just strange. I asked her if she can repeat my order back to me before I provided her with payment. Everything was right so I paid over the phone. When I arrive, the lady who was at the register asked me for my name and then says my total and paused for a moment and said it was paid for already. I asked her if it was usual to ask for payment over the phone and she looked surprised and some other lady came by and said well you ordered over a $20 dollar limit so we have to ask for payment. I didn't question it any further. Honestly it was just a bizarre and terrible experience. I regret not ordering the tres leches because the desserts look so good in the window. I had the empanadas (picadillo, chicken, ropa vieja) and papa rellena (beef & chicken). It was all very bland and dry. I tried both the red and green sauce, which were tasty but couldn't make up for the disappointing empanadas. I also ordered cafe bonbon, which doesn't make sense because they charge you extra for condensed milk. Still, it was the best thing I ordered. I tried this place on Uber Eats and loved my experience. I ordered the Arepas and loved what I received. I tried the Chicken and Avocado and their version of Arepa de pabellon which is shredded beef, cheese, plantain and black beans. It was delicious! It is my favorite type of Arepa and they nailed it in flavor! The arepa itself was well made, thick and hearty but fluffy. The meats were seasoned and juicy. Along with my order they gave me a free guava and cheese pastry that was really good. Also, a small strawberry slice that was pretty amazing as well. It was fresh and sweet but not overwhelming. I placed an order for a tres leches birthday cake over the phone last week. I love tres leches and have had it many times at various Latin and Brazilian bakeries and restaurants, which is why I wanted to order it. I decided to order it from this bakery because of the great photos and reviews; however, it did not meet my expectations. When I placed the order on the phone, I explained my order 3x because I was transferred to 3 different people due to language barrier. When picking up the cake, I was told the filling inside was incorrect. A gentleman (seemed to be lead baker) was apologetic and kind enough to remake the cake. I waited 30+ minutes for the cake to be remade; therefore, was running late. When the cake was taken out of the box, I noticed that it was CROOKED. When I cut into the cake, it was the WRONG FILLING again - instead of pineapple and Bavarian cream (which is similar to vanilla custard/pudding), it was regular whipped cream with pineapple. When I ate the cake, some parts tasted dry.. as if the cake hadn't been soaked with tres leches. Not sure if this was because they made it last minute. Even my guests said it tasted more like regular cake. The next day I called to express my disappointment. After explaining to the older man (possibly owner) whom I placed the order with, he argued with me that I asked for Bavarian creme filling among other things. I said that is correct that I asked for Bavarian, but I got whipped cream and a crooked cake. Then, he insensitively said, "OK, so what do you want?" I asked for a refund. At first he refused to give me a refund, but then he told me to bring the cake. Then, he said that he knew he shouldn't have taken my order when I called first called. My friend (who also ate the cake) heard the conversation and we appalled. I was very disappointed at his unfriendly tone and response. Even though I had 2/3 of the cake, I decided to let the refund go since I was 2 hours away. Overall, I am highly disappointed with the quality of product, communication, and customer service. Giving 2 stars because I am appreciative that gentleman offered to make a new cake when it was the wrong filling the first time and was kind about it. read more

I have been a customer since they had their first small place down on Passaic Avenue. I'm extremely hard to impress and this place hits a home run every single time. The Hallacas was corn meal stuffed with chicken, beef and pork that packed and awesome filling punch! Also worth to add it served and presented nicely. All of the food was amazing. The flavors hit on all levels and we loved it. I think it was so good my momma is thinking of downloading Yelp now. This is the first time orang more times to come. Yes I will be back!
