I was looking for a place to grab something good/quick in downtown for lunch. The concierge at the Davenport Hotel told me to check out Domini (the lounge at the Davenport wasn't yet open). If the concierge at the davenport suggests a place, I'm apt to listen. So I walked the block to the restaurant, and was immediately greeted, and told to sit anywhere I liked. The staff brought me a bowl of popcorn and water with fresh lemon very soon after. I'd eaten at Domini with my parents years before, but had never come back. I will be back soon, I'm sure. The sandwiches are huge, I'm glad I got the "Tiny" sandwich, as it comes loaded with 5 oz. of meat. The pastrami was piled high, and the bread soft, fresh and fluffy. I savored every bite. The mustard even tasted special. I did read some of the other reviews, where people were bothered with no veggies being made available. I do beleive veggies are available, but on an a la carte basis. Wow, this place was awesome! If you don't know it's there, you might miss it. The sandwiches are HUGE! My husband and I shared a large and could each barely finish that! They roast some of their meats in house and get bread fresh each morning. It's meat and cheese only, so don't come expecting to get any veggies. You will not be disappointed! read more

If you like just solid sandwiches, this is the place for you. Bread...meat...cheese...meat...cheese...more meat...more cheese. One of the biggest sandwiches I've had and I only got the small. Just be warned, they don't have the toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, etc.) like most places do which is totally fine. They do have pickles and a few kinds of mustard. Service was great. My wife and I had lunch here yesterday. The waitress came right over with a bowl of fresh popcorn to snack on. She asked if this was our first visit and we said yes. She explained the menu and that their sandwiches were all about bread fresh every day, meat, and cheese, no vegetables on the sandwiches; a smear of mustard and/or mayo is available for the sandwich. My wife ordered the roast beef with cheddar cheese and mayo on French bread, I had the pastrami with provolone on French bread with mayo and mustard. We ordered the small sandwich which was huge, the bread was super fresh, soft and tasty; my pastrami was very flavorful and complemented by the provolone; both sandwiches were very tasty. Half of a small sandwich plus the popcorn filled us up; we asked for containers for the other half of the sandwich; we got a bag half full of popcorn along with foil to wrap the sandwich in, this was a cool touch with the popcorn. For folks who want lettuce, tomato, sprouts, etc., this place may be somewhat disappointing; but if you are about the bread, meat and cheese, this is a great place. Yum. Yum. Yum. It's so simple, your brain can't quite figure out why it's so good. The bread is incredibly soft, the meat (roast beef in my case) tastes amazing, is garlicky and piled high. Adding horseradish just adds to the awesomeness. You get free popcorn to munch on while you wait. How can it be so good? It's just meat, bread and cheese, right? But it is. It really is. Try it. You can thank me later. The food is five stars but I'm giving it four stars because they don't accept debit or credit cards. I rarely carry cash so to eat here I have to plan a trip to the bank. Been here a couple times for a quick and filling lunch and have never been disappointed. To my knowledge, they only have bread, meat, cheese, mayo, and mustard for your sandwich. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for an interesting sandwich with tons of veggies and so forth. However, the quality of the ingredients is top notch, the service is friendly, and the food comes out about 2 minutes after you order. My advice -- don't go with a "tiny" sandwich even if you aren't super hungry. The price difference between a small and a tiny isn't very much but the small is essentially double the amount of food and you can just take home the leftovers and enjoy later. The inside of the restaurant feels kind of like your grandmother's house in the best way possible -- I think it adds to the charm of the place. Check it out! read more

I was in town for a business trip and decided to check this out after reading all the reviews. It was as good as advertised, huge sandwiches [I am a pretty big eater and thought the small sandwich was pretty darned humongous.] Lots of meat and cheese, and the bread is delicious. I like that they have several types of mustards at each table. Sit at or near the counter, it's fun to listen in as the staff chat with the regulars. This is a perfect hole in the wall NY delicatessen style sandwich shop. Nothing is sliced until you order it. Bread is fresh daily. Meat and cheese servings are more than generous! Not a lot has changed since the brothers opened this shop and that in itself speaks volumes to their product. My most recent visit was at the request of my wife who had just given birth and wanted a deli sandwich after 9 months of no deli meat. Walking into Domini's is like traveling back to the 60's for tacky decor and larger-than-life portions . The pseudo ma 'n pa setup puts enough meat and cheese in your sandwich to fill a dozen Subway sandwiches... no lie. Getting a full bite is all but impossible. The free popcorn "appetizer" is always delicious and the staff friendly. The largest deterrent is twofold: payments at Domini's are by cash or check only, and their prices are ridiculously high. Without debit or credit, you really start feeling as if you've returned to the 60's but the prices bring you back home. A can of 7-UP will set you back $1.25 and the sandwich itself is about $10. This juxtaposition of simple sandwiches and hole-in-the-wall charm eats one of their stars. Without prices to match their simplicity, my expectations are higher. Every menu I've seen had prices rewritten and ingredients crossed out. Unless their prices parallel their budget-cutting, I expect them to reprint updated menus and keep ingredients well-stocked. read more

I ordered a hot Reuben via grubhub. What I got instead was corned beef and Swiss, iced cold, and sauerkraut in a coffee cup, also cold. No bread! And the sauces were honey mustard and horseradish. I didn't get a sandwich, I got a project, and it wasn't even complete. I called the restaurant, and they deflected and blamed grubhub, which I'm pretty sure just picks up and delivers what they're given. I was trying to support a local business, but when I order a sandwich, that's what I expect to get, not some make it yourself ingredients with half of them missing or incorrect. WOW! Just...WOW. I'm only passing through Spokane on my way to Glacier National Park. However, I am delighted (deli-ighted?) to have come across Domini Sandwiches. Living in Seattle and being in a perpetual state of "well..I could eat...", I find it often tough to "size" up new restaurants. Not knowing what I got myself into, I bought two sandwiches to go. My goodness! I guess I now have dinner as well. This is awesome (for multiple definitions of the word)! Regardless of the size of the sandwiches, the ingredients are top notch. Domini's is always packed and the turn over rate is constant, so they aren't hurting for customers by all means, but the selection is slim, and you dont get anything extra with your meal. The inside is like an old 70's Denny's with worn out seats and a bar running along the right hand side. You have to have cash or a check as they don't take any sort of plastic for payment. The food itself is great, the portions are big, and the prices are a little high considering what you get, so if you happen to be in the area its a nice quick place to stop and eat. Otherwise, you're paying quite a bit for 2 pieces of bread with a crapload of meat and slim choices. As far as the staff, they are constantly hustling, and seem overwhelmed a lot of the time, my roomie ordered a coffee, and we barely got a refill before we left, so there's little interaction between you and your server. I decided to look for a lunch place in Spokane today and yelp informed me of Domini Sandwiches. It sounded cool so I decided I would try it out. The location is in the downtown area so prepare to park on the street. Luckily the meters accept credit cards. The food itself was very good. I had a pastrami sandwich with pepper jack cheese on sour dough bread. The sandwich itself was huge. I was a huge fan of the meat and cheese. The bread however reminded me more of white bread than sour dough. Overall 4/5 stars. The interior of this place was pretty cool. I felt like I was going back in time to the 60s or 70s. Some reviewers are turned off by this. As long as the place looks clean, and it did, I enjoy this. Overall 5/5. The price was one of my least favorite things. I feel like it was a bit more than I would have liked to spend on my lunch. I am sure this is because of the high quality meats and cheeses here. Still I can only give 3/5 stars for price. My average rating here is a 4/5 stars and I will not be adjusting it because I fully support this rating. I had heard so much about this place, and finally had some time to go there with the hubby. The popcorn is great, but it was our first time there, and we didn't really know what to do or what to order, so we asked and she said, you basically just have bread and meat and cheese, you just choose what combination you want. Well I am vegetarian, and I am used to at least having 1 option at a restaurant. They had advertised an egg sandwich so I was excited! BUT they don't serve that past 10AM, so i asked if they had any options for a vegetarian, and she literally said NO. She said I could have a piece of cheese with bread... mmmm.... yummy! They literally have NO vegetables in the entire restaurant, just bread, cheese and meat. A rare treat. I don't work or live anywhere downtown Spokane, otherwise I would be eating here a lot more often and my doctor would be asking about my weight. The format is so simple and the food / sandwiches are out of this world fantastic. The popcorn is an interesting unique snack while you wait. I found Domini by mistake. I thought, "eh,why not?" The place is fairly dated, not set up for any sort of group gathering, things are a bit disorganized to tell the truth. The overwhelming presence of popcorn permeates the place (pardon my alliteration) the seats are generally small, cramped and in need of updating. The decor hopelessly stuck in 1971. The folks who work there are pleasant enough, they have a job to do and are trying to be as efficient as possible. The menu is simple and straightforward, no-nonsense! I ordered a "whole, salami, provolone, with mustard and mayo. No salady bits to distract you. The Goodly Earl would be proud. To say this sandwich is HUGE is an understatement. The "tiny" is for mere mortals, the "half" is suitable for farm hands or rough carpenters, nobody this side of Olympus can finish a "whole"... all things considered the price is fair, you buy one sandwich and it becomes 4 seperate meals, add in the popcorn (free up to a point - 2 bowls per sandwich) beverage and a pickle and you got yourself a party. Just had to thank you for your kindness today. I have end-stage liver disease that requires me to have my abdomen drained every Tuesday and Friday. Unfortunately, the swelling involved leaves me unable to eat for about 4 days a week. But everytime I leave the hospital, I'm SO ready for the perfect meal. And one of your sandwiches is all I ever want when I'm finally able to eat. We could only finish 1/2 of the regular sandwich, so when we got to-go bags, they loaded them with more of their tasty popcorn. FYI there is no lettuce / tomato / onions .. not even optional.
