This is the BEST Philly cheesesteak I've ever had! We called our order in and it was ready within 10 minutes. We ordered the Sally(made Sally's way), and the Sullivan. It is an older establishment, but don't be fooled by the interior! The owner told me that after 20 years they may be retiring. I hope not, but if so I'm glad I got to experience their delicious sandwiches! read more

These were not as expected. All the ingredients must have been just thrown on the griddle and mixed up. I guess all the ingredients were in there, but it was hard to tell. When you want a cheesesteak, you want to think there is cheese on it. We ordered three of their Bacon Steaks to take home. The place was so somber inside, we said we'd come back in 20 mins and pick up our order. It's obvious the owners are the only people running it, and they are far, far beyond retirement age. Fine if they want to spend their time doing that, but at least be friendly and make a good sandwich. These weren't that great at all, you'd do better at home. Three of them were $50 total. No one else there in the height of the lunch hours. Lesson learned. I don't want to be anymore mean, so I will say no more. read more

My brother and I are trying to meet for lunch once a month. Today it was Zelia's. I have been wanting to try this place, for years. Today was the day. I ordered the Chicken Vegetable. The bread was warm, the chicken and veggies were delicious. My brother ordered the Sally Special, from Sally herself. He asked for it spicy, but it wasn't all that spicy (to him). Came to zelias for the 1st time, I've seen this place for quite awhile and finally decided to stop in and give it a try. There was an elderly couple that was running the shop and they were the nicest people you could ever meet. We ordered a cheese steak and had a bag of Tim's chips and freshly baked homemade cookies and also got a drink. The Philly cheese steak was very good I really liked it and it tastes super good. I haven't had alot of cheese steaks to compare it too but it was super good and will go back again one day to grab another one. If you're going to be in the spokane valley area stop by zelias and try our their Philly cheese steak I'm telling you that you'll like how it tastes and you'll get to meet the friendliest elderly couple there so stop by and support their business. read more

We were there for a factory training certificate in March 2025 and looking to get lunch other than classic junk food places around. Coincidentally found Zelia's on Sullivan rd. and tried the steak and cheese sub. It was so delicious and wanted to come back 2nd and the 3rd times... Highly recommend it. We heard about this establishment and the couple that own it on FB. After reading about the couple we knew we had to try it and support their local business. We couldn't be more happy we did. Sally and her husband are delightful and the cheesesteak was delicious. It is a true mom and pop shop and the service reflects the care they have for their customers. The only reason it is a 4 instead of 5 star is the ambiance. They opened 19 years ago and like many small establishments, haven't put capital investments into keeping things updated. Don't let that stop you from coming, it kind of adds to the charm. read more

Zelia's is a trip. It's run by an elderly couple who have a very unique charm. They are very friendly, but it can be a bit of an adventure ordering due to language barriers. Nevertheless, the food is great (I've had a few cheesesteaks from Zelia's). My biggest complaint from my last visit was Rush Limbaugh's voice on the overhead radio talking about how soccer should be banned from television because all of the youth soccer programs in the country were turning our kids into European lib-tards (his words, not mine). Also, they have these fun little pamphlets on the tables (see pic). All in all I'm giving Zelia's three stars because though the food is tasty, the experience could put one off (especially the Rush Limbaugh part). read more

My husband LOVES this place. He asks to go all the time, so I finally relented. Cheesesteaks are good. The wait is a bit, but I understand as the place is run by the owners. What I don't get, is why conservative radio is being played LOUDLY in the restaurant? Some regular music would be much more neutral. For this reason, I refuse to go back. Bummer. read more

Best sandwich in Spokane! Yes the service is slow- They make every sandwich to order & take time to make it amazing. No there is no language barrier. Yes the owners are an older couple-they know what they are doing and doing it right. Yes the restaurant is a little run down-so what the food is amazing, I didn't come for the table & chairs. I had lunch today at Zelia's; a cheese steak. After I ordered I could hear the clank of metal spatula on metal as the meat and onions were grilled; always a good sound for possibly a great cheese steak. The roll was fresh and soft, the meat was tender, juicy and lightly seasoned, onion, and just the right amount of provolone. A delicious sandwich. read more

The wait is not really worth it. The food is just ok and it took over 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches. They had two small orders before mine and one after. Somehow the one order after mine still came out first even though the old man seems to make one sandwich at a time. I'd stay stick to the hot sandwiches. I got my husband the sally and it was good. I got the cold club and it was unremarkable. They forgot the ham so they slapped some on top of the sandwich after they realized the mistake. Not really eager to go back any time soon. read more

The hours are very inconsistent and do not coincide with google. The owners are both incredibly rude and the entire experience was just off. Like many of the other reviews mention, the food does take a long time to make. I waited about 30 minutes for one sandwich... I will say it is the best cheesesteak I've ever had, but with such rude owners I'd rather not give them my business. read more

Took well over 45 mins to get my sandwich, and there were only maybe 5 other people in the restaurant. Seemed to be making one sandwich at a time, on a large flattop grill. Unacceptable. Zelias is fantastic. The All-Meat sub is 2500+ calories of meaty excellence. No language barrier, owners are sweet. Orders run a little slow during peak hours but you can call in early and schedule pickup. Definitely try it if you're on the fence. read more

I ordered the standard cheesesteak and it was no better than what you get at those mall food courts. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. Also, every cheesesteak place needs to have Cheez Whiz. Zelia's does not. The OK sandwich was rendered nearly inedible by conservative talk radio blaring loudly over the speakers. (Mueller's investigation is not a "perjury trap" just because you must answer truthfully!) read more

I want to say good things about the old couple that runs this place but the woman was NOT pleased with us bringing the kids in. She was worried about her admittedly amazing aloe Vera plants and less than enthusiastic when handing us the kids sandwiches. So not good for kids ages 6 and under. Zelia's is great. You have to keep in mind that it's ran by two older folks, and the restaurant environment is nothing special at all, and it is slow to get your order since everything is cooked to order. However, the important thing is the food and it's delicious and flavorful. The sandwiches here beat the pants out of Bruchi's, or Subway, Jimmy John's. Take a few minutes when you're in the neighborhood and hungry to stop in for a sandwich, say hi to Sally taking your order, and enjoy it. Delicious. If you're in a hurry, call and place your order before coming down. It's a time saver. read more

This place is extremely dirty. The floors are sticky, the tables are filthy, and the kitchen... Well it was so dirty in this place I turned around and walked oht the door. Gross. Zelia's is a wonderful place to enjoy a cheese steak! I stopped in around lunch time and to my surprise they were not busy ( which at that point kind of made me skeptical) but I was starving and had my mind made up on a cheese steak. I think after about 2-3 bites I inhaled the rest. One of the BEST cheese steaks I have ever had and I travel for a living so I get to experience a lot of restaurant food. Since that day I have returned and it was pretty much the same scenario except there were a few customers in when I revisited. I ordered the same thing to see if there would be a difference from the first time and to my surprise it was made to perfection and delicious. I even suggested this place to a few of the consultants I work with. Give it a try and you will be back read more

I ordered that and my roommate decided to try The Rancher, sub ranch, lol ikik, for the Beaver sweet and spicy mustard and Italian dressing. I couldn't get enough of my tuna sandwich, it was so delicious! The sourdough bread is just so fresh and soft, yet not soft enough to sog up my sandwich. My roommate kept saying how much meat there was and couldn't imagine being hungry enough for a full sandwich He really enjoyed his crazy combo of Beaver mustard and Italian dressing too. The ladies working were super nice and friendly and although the weather was a bit cooler, the patio was nice and relaxing.

The soup of the day happened to be creamy chicken and wild rice (a staple for any good sandwich shop). It was everything I could've hoped: perfect consistency, flavorful, and the kind of soup that tastes like it was made with love. Deanna first introduced herself to me and then served my combo to me within minutes. You can tell quality and consistency truly matter here, and it will keep me coming back again and again. A true, family-owned, local gem worth supporting!

It's the best thin crust type pizza in the whole Spokane-CDA area and the location is very convenient for me so it's a nice bonus. The prices are phenomenal too. I love some of the more expenses places, but sometimes it's annoying looking at your credit card statement. Never here. One of the best cost to value ratios in the country. For example one of the issues, their website is complete garbage. I go there now to verify things for a review. You go the menu tab, and there's no information on prices, sizes, or crust styles. You go to place an order to preview it, and you can't access it because it's not during business hours. Like what? So you have no idea what sizes or prices would be. Other issues this place has are that on Doordash, they don't assume that you get cheese on your pizza. I got burned once by assuming that by clicking pepperoni I would get a pepperoni pizza. I got dough, sauce, and pepperoni. I guess it was my fault for not verifying I need to include cheese, but I've had to do this anywhere else and I've been to literally hundreds of pizza shops. The other style pizzas they have are just not that good. Maybe like 2-3 for the thicker style and 3 for the regular. It's a bit confusing that their thin crust can be so good and the others can't..... but it's been a solid 5 star. So basically, check this place out, only get their thin crust pizza, and if you order through door dash make sure to select cheese and you'll have all positive experiences! I think if they pushed this their average rating would be much higher than it what it currently is. Don't have a picture right now, but the next time I order I'll take one.

I went to this establishment Zelia's Cheese Steak & Subs in the Spokane Valley, with a coupon from my entertainment book that read "Enjoy one complimentary menu item when a second menu item of equal or greater value is purchased" and they would not honor their coupon. The would only do half off the second sandwich. The food is ok but Bruchis will honor their coupons so I will eat their instead & tell everyone I know to do the same. I will not give money to liars who apparently do not care if people ever return to their establishment. If I could give them negative stars I would, if this is family run this family is a bunch of jerks! read more

Everything YUM! Never had anything bad. Funky little owners always there and very friendly. Can't wait to eventually try everything on the menu. Support local, this place is a mom and pop business and probably cheaper than that corporate franchise you usually hit up for lunch. Spread the word! read more

My friend is into Philly Cheesesteaks and I wanted to try the veggie rice bowl. So at the ordering counter, there's a bell to ring for help or to ask questions. With that said, it's a DIY kiosk tablet that was pretty simple and user friendly. My friend got a traditional Philly Ribeye Cheesesteak with extra cheese and an order of cheese fries. I got the veggie rice bowl with all the veggies offered except for jalapenos. I choose 2 sauce options: soy aioli and gochujang. I also got a side order of fries. My veggie bowl arrived hot and steamy and had a pretty good flavor profile considering I chose 2 sauces. Rice to veggies was proportionate and the portion itself was worth the value too. If there's any suggestion, it would be to use a different rice or add a little water to it throughout the day as it's on the warmer so it doesn't dry out as fast.
