    Dominican cake
    Anthony P.

I called at 8 am for a cake on a Saturday and they had it ready by 12. This is amazing in itself but the level of customer service that was provided was honestly amazing. The gentleman took his time to go over the cake and instructions on how to care for the cake if i would be serving it in the same day. This will be my to go place for all my cake needs. The cake was moist, fresh and the merengue was very good. Sweetness was right where it needed to be. 10/10 and this is coming from a Dominican who grandma has set the standard on what a Dominican cake should taste like.

My niece's 15 birthday cake was just the way I had described it, the cake was amazing!!! The cake was very moist and the dulce the leche filling was delicious. The icing was the best part you must taste it, I can't even describe it !!! It's like a soft marshmallow cloud, unbelievable!!! Thank you so much and we will definitely 100% recommend. Martha

My husband drove 2 hours for this cake for my 50th bday...the cake was beautiful but you can tell they tried to correct something on top. The bottom layer taste like cardboard and not wet/moist like most Dominican cakes are....not sure if the vanilla used was bad but it had an a weird taste. The frosting taste like pure grease and not good at all. I LITERALLY COULD NOT EAT THE PIECE I CUT MYSELF!!! Thank God it was only him and I...we threw it away! Very disappointing especially because I LLLLOOOOVVVVEEEEE Dominican cake and I'm Puerto Rican! Happy 50th to me!!!! #disappointed #wastedmoney

DELICIOSO!!

    My Dominican Birthday cake!! OmNomNom!

So what had happened was... After living down the street for over a year and not having a valid reason for stopping at the small shop with a sign heralding DOMINICAN CAKES over its door, I finally scratched the itch. (metaphorically speaking!) SMH Last night a group of friends hosted a party for my birthday and I insisted on picking up the cake. ...see where this is going? SO, Dominican Cakes here I come. Called them initially to get an idea on what it would run then swung by to check them out in person. From the moment they answered the phone yesterday to the parting "Have a Happy Birthday!" as I walked out with cake in hand today they were an absolute pleasure to work with. Juanita was the one that helped me. She was super sweet and that smile of hers made my day. I told her I REALLY loved cake with "natilla" filling, specially when the cake itself was incredibly wet and moist. ("Natilla" is Spanish for Natilla.) SO, she said that ALL true Cubans love it that way. It's like she KNEW me!!! lol Clearly we were Kindred Kuban espiritos, so I ordered the cake! When I came back today to pick it up (--Sorry, "Espiritos" is Spanish. It means espiritos, the plural of espirito ...obviously) the cake looked even better than I expected. She showed it to me then proceeded to tape it up with military grade scotch tape specifically designed to keep fat boys from the one thing they want most! I'm convinced ALL Cuban Bakeries have this evil tape and know you'll end up killing yourself trying to open a professionally taped box with your free hand while driving. UGH!! I digest.... back to the cake. The cake was SPECTACULAR! I waited til almost 2 am to say "OMG! the cake!". I want to say that was by accident BUT, (pause)...lets face it, by then there were a LOT less mouths to feed and well--there IS left over Cake in MY fridge. So, WINNING! Everyone loved the cake! The Natilla (see above) was perfect and the Dominican Merengue icing was way lighter than the Cuban Merengue used on traditional cakes. I cant wait to find ANY reason to order another one. I HIGHLY recommend them. Oh, My apologies, "Merengue" pronouncederengue (/mrŋe/) is a style of Dominican music and dance! --WHO KNEW!? :) So, GO to Dominican Cakes today & tell em Pedro sent you!! (No, don't! they'll have NO idea WHO the hell you're talking about!) LMFAO

    What I wanted

So I ordered from this place because the first time we ordered from here the service was amazing and the cake turned out good. But the thing is last time we ordered a cake and it had came out really nice and now for my daughters quinceañera we thought hey why don't we order from this place because it's her favorite cake place! But the thing is what I got vs what I had been expecting and the cake came out sorta weird as you can see in the pictures the cake is a little flimsy and also it's rough around the edges. The finishing part is off completely and the crown just isn't even working with the cake it just looks completely rushed. When I had said I don't really like how it came out the guy said I was being really picky and that wasn't even the point all I said was to copy the same thing as the cake just change the color to blue and silver. Before he started getting more customers for his cakes and good reviews he was calm and collected and understanding now he's just a different person. when I had got there he was rushing me and he wasn't even done with the cake. He was being rude and saying if I didn't like the cake either he "gives it to me the way it is or I can just leave the cake" and obviously I couldn't go to no other place because my daughters birthday is tomorrow where was I going to find a place to do a huge cake in less than 24 hours. The finishing of the cake is extremely unprofessional and his attitude was also extremely unprofessional.

Small place perfect for quick bites of freshly baked, cakes, and much more. An expert pastry chef and her delightful taste run this little bistro, she is very welcoming, one feels as if one is in their home and they're wonderful hosts. For those looking for a local bakery and easy parking. Thanks Again!

Got my birthday cake from her a couple of weeks ago. Very friendly and the cake was delicious. She let me try the dulce de leche, I bought a pineapple filled individual slice and my bday cake was with guava filling. All 3 delicious and moist! Only thing is the merengue icing wasn't "crunchy" which is how I've had it in the past, not sure why. I bought the cake on Friday and kept it refrigerated over night. Here are some pics that I took at her store. I will definitely go back!

    Yummy! Dulce de leche

Amazing cakes, beautiful designs and friendly staff. The owner is welcoming and helpful. I gave her a picture of a pink ruffle cake that I needed in 2 days from that date. The cake came out beyond my expectations. I loved it, everyone loved it and it was delicious. She makes the cake fresh, when ordered, not like other bakeries that pre-bake and freeze their cakes. There is no comparison. My family, coworkers and friends all tell me to get my cakes from here. Delicious!

Here you will find several chocolate related desserts so we ordered the strawberries, chocolate bubble tea, and Ferrero Rocher shake. The Dubai strawberry was very good with large juicy fruits drenched in smooth melted chocolate. The cup also included a pistachio paste and kadayif giving it a good crispy texture. My only complaint was that the pistachio flavors were not as strong. The chocolate bubble tea was solid you can still taste milk tea taste. Azucar bills itself as the first homemade Cuban ice cream and I believe it. Get the Abuela Maria. It is their number one seller for a reason: guava, cream cheese, and Maria cookies folded together, and it tastes exactly like something a Cuban grandmother would make if she also happened to be a genius. Cafe con Leche and Mantecado round out the top three and neither disappoints. Real talk on the practical stuff. It is busy and the shop is small, so expect a line and expect to eat standing or perched on the window bench. Prices run about seven to eleven bucks a cup depending on size, but taxes are included in the sticker (rare and appreciated, no surprise math at the register). Cash and Apple Pay both work. Pro move: grab your cup, walk thirty seconds to Domino Park, and eat it watching the old timers slap dominoes. That combo is peak Little Havana. Five stars, would fly back to Miami for the Abuela Maria alone.
