Everything at Dominick's tastes like cheap olive oil. You start with bread that reminds me of a lighter, airier version of ciabatta, brushed with crummy olive oil and mowed over with powdered parmesan cheese. It's not what I would call good, but it will fill you up. More oil and some garlic would be nice. The house red wine is pretty awful as well, but then again it's the house red wine at an Italian restaurant. Shocker. Everything on the menu has two prices, which say half or full serving. The half servings could probably feed two people, and the full servings are family size and could feed a few. I had the Chicken Parmigiana, which was not very good. As I mentioned before, it had a cheap oil taste that lingered in my mouth, The pasta it was served with was bland. I also tried the mushroom triangle shaped ravioli and it was equally tasteless. I have a hard time understanding the negative reviews here. Granted, this location does not have the charm of the Old Norcross location, but we have always received good service and great food here. I have tried several dishes including garlic bread, ravioli, salads and seafood and have always been pleased with what I ate and the value for money. We had been going to this location for about 2 years. Last night I ordered the same thing I order all the time, chicken scarpiello, not too spicey. Needless to say I was very disappointed. The chicken was very dry and in large strips, nothing like I've had previously, with very little sauce. The twelve other people in our party also had various degrees of unsatisfaction. When it comes to Italian food, I am very, very picky. I was just compelled to write this review after visiting Dominicks in Buford. I went in with some friends for dinner. It was beyond great. The owner came by the table and checked on us, it was just a great experience. The food was amazing! By far the best crab cakes I have had anywhere. If you happen to find yourself near downtown Buford with an insatiable craving for Italian, run over to the Buford Village shops and check out Dominick's. Like its popular sister location in downtown Norcross, this restaurant specializes in big, fresh, and flavorful portions of all of the Italian favorites in a setting similar to Maggiano's. And as if a perfect eggplant parmigiana wasn't enough, the service was fantastic. My family (including my 2 yo nephew) and I showed up 30 minutes before closing on a holiday night and were welcomed with open arms by the entire staff. Despite the holiday and late hour, our waitress never rushed us and even chatted with us (but not to the annoying level). To top it off, the prices were just right for both the food and booze. On a side note, it is kind of sad that this area of Buford doesn't get much attention any more. Hopefully this restaurant can survive long enough for the economy to recover. The food is good - some entrees are great, but they're all paired with a side of pasta that tastes like it came straight out of a box. In my opinion, Italian restaurants should make their own pasta. If I wanted boxed spaghetti, I'd buy it myself and come closer to al dente then this place. It's not awful, but again... not great either. Dominick's is decent Italian food. They are pretty consistently good with the tomato sauce dishes. Eggplant parmesan is generally a standout. The salads for the most part are good, although if you order chicken served with them the chicken will be dry. My favorite salad is the Sicilian which features chicken, bacon and blue cheese. The dish I would not recommend is anything with Cabonara sauce. It's pretty bland and thick, not really all that great. Other than that, it's a pretty good menu and the food service has been consistent for the 2 years I've been visiting the Buford location. This has been my favorite restaurant ever since we tried it 3 years ago. My husband made reservations for valentine's day and it was perfect. The manager is so kind and remembers us every time were in there. He even knows which table we like to sit at. The amount of food you get for the price is wonderful. We always get a full chicken parmesan and full cheese ravioli. It gives us enough for dinner, then two left over lunches for me, one big left over lunch for my husband, and an additional chicken breast we bring home for my dad. Being from NY I can state that anyone giving this place a bad review is most likely from the south and or from a part of the country that is not part of the Tri-State NY, NJ, CT area. They most commonly would think a place like Olive Garden or Carrabas is better than Dominick's. Just about anyone from the Northern Tri-State area that dines at this restaurant would most likely give this place a good review especially for being in Georgia. My Five Star review is based on it being in Georgia. Hard to find better Italian here other than 1 or two places that I've found comparable to Dominick's. Anyone that truly knows good Italian food and wasn't brought up on BBQ, Creamy Sweet Everything, Fast Food and Fake Claiming Italian Fast Food such as the Olive Garden, Carrabas, Dominos etc., will really be glad they found Dominick's. If you don't know what Tartufo (Bomba) is... you're not an authentic expert on good Italian Food. I had a sweet southern neighbor tell me he wanted to treat me to really good Italian... It captures the essence of an Italian Restaurant in NY that has regulars, because quality and quantity is equally good. Prices are fair, and dinner splitting works well, due to the portion size. The service was spot on, and the ambiance was Italian Family. Tried this local eatery after getting inconsistent meals at Luciano's of Sugarloaf for the last few visits. Happy to say I have found an awesome place for Italian food. Everything was excellent starting with drinks and ending with dessert. Won't hesitate to be eating here as often as we eat Italian. Looking through some of the lower reviews posted makes you question the reviewer and their food choices. I don't order a steak at an Italian restaurant, I order conventional Italian. Want a steak, go to a steak house. Sauces were spot on, excellent garlic bread, veal saltimboca was properly prepared, the rest of the party chose risotto, chicken piccata, tortellini with chicken, arancini and spedini for apps. So Dominick's had an Easter special this year. But you had to order it and pick it up at 5 PM. Even with the COVID situation they had many people show up at the same time. They had the food bagged up and sitting in bundles on tables for each order getting cold. They had one person calling out names on the orders randomly and taking credit cards with no regard to first come first serve. All you could do is stand there and watch your food get colder while you were waiting for your name to get called. This is so surprising for Dominick's. Very unfortunate! read more

Worst Italian meal my families ever had. Service was average and friendly but the food was mostly horrible. We visited on Mother's Day for lunch. Should have been a clue when the place was 1/2 empty as 12:30pm on Mother's day when every other restaurant in the city has lines. Calamari appetizer was just OK - a little tough and the marinara sauce with it was salty (which will begin a trend). This and the service is the only reason I gave it even one star. My wife had a chicken Marsala - the sauce was so salty that she scrapped the Marsala sauce off it and just ate the chicken. My adult daughter had veal Marsala and found it inedible - the sauce and meat were so salty she couldn't handle it. Everyone at the table tasted it and agreed - it was horrible. The waitress took it off the check. I had Lasagna - even Garfield wouldn't have enjoyed this stuff. The bottom two layers of pasta were hard as leather - I guess it had been sitting in a warming tray or something for days, the Marinara sauce was very salty, and the meat tasted weird. Nobody at our table finished more than half our meal. I used to eat fairly frequently at the Norcross location and loved it - whoever's in the kitchen of this location needs to have their salt dispenser confiscated. read more

Even a simple salad, should never include wilted greens, tasteless tomatoes all disguised by a sour dressing. This restaurant is just a poor copy of the other two far more superior restaurants of the same name in the area. Honestly I don't know why the owners of the company have not changed the management, I know they know how to make hey great restaurant when I look at their other successes. I just don't understand it. So here's the problem with this one, I made reservations for the family for my brother in laws birthday. When we ordered the garlic bread , the garlic was burned so badly and was so bitter that we felt it wasn't that inedible. When I asked for them to take it back to the kitchen and bring us back garlic bread that had been cooked half as long , they argued with me that that was incorrectly cook and that I would not enjoy it. I finally had to tell them that since I was paying for it I should get it however I like it. Once it was brought out the way I asked them to cook it, it was actually very tasty. I was willing to let the entire incident go until I got the bill and not only did they not remove the garlic bread from the bill which most restaurants would do for the aggravation, they actually charged me for the second garlic bread. When I asked for the manager, actually refused to remove it from the bill and only relented when I promised that I would be calling the owner of the company. The last few health inspections for this restaurant have been very poor and every time I drive past it I don't see cars in the parking lot. While I don't understand how a restaurant run this poorly is still in business, I really don't understand how a restaurant that has such successful restaurants in its chain, can be run so poorly. This restaurant would be so much more convenient for me however I choose to go to the far superior restaurant in the lawrenceville town square. I love the menu and when the food is cooked properly it is second to none in the area. Just steer clear of the Buford location. read more

Dirty, greasy, and bent silverware, $9.00 shots of wine, dirty, greasy dishes, greasy fingerprinted glasses, and recycled linens... my son found a piece old chewing gum stuck to the tablecloth. $150.00 dinner and a $35.00 deductible at the doctor, times five, for each of my family members that ate there due to food poisoning. I would rather have my private parts flattened by a steamroller before I eat there again. Great service, but food poisoning is a great upgrade for a family night out. Enjoy. My weekend is ruined. The worst restaurant we have ever eaten in. Not only was the food tasteless and cold what was worse was the owner / manager's attitude. Totally indignant. As if we had done something wrong. Six people for a celebration dinner and five of the six meals were horrible. Eggplant parmigiana fried like shoe leather. Since when is marinara heated tomatoes from a can? It was suppose to be shrimp risotto not shrimp served on a plate of instant rice. Chicken penne? Could have fooled me. Large portions do not make up for a poorly prepared meal. The manager said he was the owner. I doubt it. No one could be that rude and be in this business. Everyone has a choice. Our choice is not only never come back but to alert all our friends about a person who clearly does not have a clue how to be in the hospitality business or run a restaurant. Went to the Dominic's in Lawrenceville yesterday eve. The waitress was very assertive, friendly and on time for various plate exchanges, apps, water dinner etc. Dinner; my sons pasta ziti dish was not desirable for a basic 13.00 pasta dish. No seasoning what so ever leaving a plain. He was disappointed. I cook a much better pasta dish. My moms Veal Parmesan, was a dark meat should be light in color, and drenched with sauce... Should light sauce over the top. My wife's shrimp and pasta... Blan. No great flavor of shrimp or pasta. My dish chicken tortellini was pretty good. So one dish out of 4 gets a thumbs up. Spent over $100.00 when I could have made these same dishes at home for much less. This restaurant needs improvement. read more

Staff is too rigid in ordering off menu. We love their moderate sized side salads that are served at lunch. But if you go there for dinner the only salad options are super huge (serves 3 or 4) bowls of salad. They will not serve you a small individual salad. My boyfriend and I don't like the same salad anyway and we want our own individual salad, but the waiter and the manager both refused us. Odd, but the Norcross location always accommodates us. So we drive the longer trip to go where the staff is accommodating. We love the loaf bread and ziti too. But we won't be going back to the Buford location. Sorry. read more

I love the casual yet upscale vibe of this restaurant. It doesn't have the same quaint, old world charm as the location in downtown Lawrenceville, but it's very nice. The portions are huge and we usually have enough leftovers for two more nights. To me the food is just ok - good, but nothing special. They're great about accommodating my special requests and our entrees are always prepared correctly. The service is just ok as well. The staff is friendly but not always attentive. We've been kept waiting for drink refills and fresh bread. There have been times when we've had to flag down the hostess or another server to get refills. This location tends to get super busy on Fridays and Saturdays so the waitstaff has a lot of customers to take care of. Adding another server would definitely help. read more

Summary: Burnt food and very slow service. Showed up at 6:15 on a Friday night. The place was reasonably full, but not hard to get into. Server took order relatively quickly. Appetizer (arancini di riso) was kind of bland, and slightly burnt, but not so bad that we sent it back. Meals came. Portions are huge (half - orders are plenty per person). However, the Chicken Parm was burnt, which my wife noticed before cutting into it, but scraped the marinara off, hoping it was just a minor scorched portion that could be cut off. Entire filet was scorched. It took over 10 minutes of trying to catch a server's eye before we were able to get a server to go get our waiter back to the table in order to try to remedy the situation. That server never managed to get our waiter back. Flagged down hostess, who took food and got waiter. By then, I was far enough into the meal that she was leaning towards just having it taken off the bill and not having it replaced. Server tried hard to convince her that in 3 minutes he could have her a replacement, so she agreed. After another 5 minutes or so, server comes back and says, "Sorry, it will actually be 20 minutes to get a replacement". We decline. He does offer a comped dessert, which was a fairly standard mousse. By then I was finished with my meal, and we shared the dessert. Once that was complete, we started looking for our server in order to pay so that we could leave and let her at least get a fast food meal. After a very long wait, she gave up and left, got a meal from DQ and ate it, and came back to get me. Sorry folks. Have been a customer for over 20 years and last night confirmed what we feared. Over the last 5 years it has been a steady decline and the service was awful. List of complaints. All food was average at best. Bread hasn't been good for years, it might be a time for a change. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan. Chicken came with a side of spaghetti ( it would have been nice to know and offered a sub). No salad not even offered. I will take responsibility for that one. We had to beg for more gravy and a water. Food is consistently average leaving us to finally believe it's not an off night they must believe it's good and leaving us with the best option of removing them as a goto place. read more

I went with a friend to the Dominick's in Buford prior to reading a lot of the bad reviews(relating to their low health dept. score back in 3/13.) We ordered the garlic bread appetizer and the 1/2 portion of lasagna. They were both very good. Dessert was the gelato ball and tiramisu. They make both on-site. I thought the food was above average and the service was exceptional. Lunch is quite a bit cheaper in price FYI. I hope your experience is as good as mine. :) read more

I'm surprised by all of the poor reviews. I feel that this is one of the best Italian places in Buford. I work nearby so my office always gets the food to go so I can't vouch on service, atmosphere, etc. However, the bread and marinara sauce is out of this world and the eggplant parm is THE best I've had anywhere. If you're an Italian don't waste your time, and even if you're not. Last night we had dinner here, and it was so bad that no one really ate their food. The sauce was tasteless and the pasta watery on the bottom. Meat balls were dry and didn't have much taste. Service horrible and what Italian restaurant doesn't serve you bread. They also served your pasta on plates. Come on Dominick's if you want to call yourselves Italian then learn from us. We have flavor use garlic and pasta goes in bowls...... This place started with promise, and then I sat down and met the waitress... I'll caveat this by saying it was Father's Day dinner and I'm sure they had been busy all day. Although, if you owned the place wouldn't you want the A-Team on the floor for such an occasion? So despite the service taking for-ev-er and feeling rushed, the food was decent. The portions are huge! ... like really, not exaggerating.... huge! We started with the Calamari and Garlic Bread w/o cheese. The waitress messed up our Garlic Bread order but she fixed it quickly enough. Both were very tasty - there were really good fried peppers mixed in with the Calamari and there was plenty of fresh garlic for the bread. There was a little more butter than I was comfortable with on the bread though, so I didn't have much. For the entrees, our table had the lasagna, veal scallopini (supposed to be chicken but we substituted, the house salad, and the antipasto salad. The boys liked the first two dishes... again really big portions. The house salad was supposed to be topped with a "vinigerette" but it was some creamy concoction - this never really matters unless you can't eat creamy things for health reasons as was our table's case. The antipasto salad was ordered with no meat or cheese (waitress messed up this order too) and was absolutely ridiculous. There must have been 2 jars of olives and another of peppers on the salad. I seriously couldn't even see the lettuce and had to ask for another plate to rearrange the pile of olives to get to the leafy stuff. The classic dishes were good and the atmosphere is cool but the service and lack of decent healthy options will keep me from returning. read more
