Awesome little quaint deli shop. We were looking for some healthier food options in Fallbrook and this popped up on the Yelp search. Reviewing the photos of Dominick's Delicatessen sold us on choosing this location. We ordered two sandwiches, two side item, and a large lemonade. The first sandwich was the Tuna with all the trimming and the second sandwich was the Avocado and Cheese (to include all the trimmings minus mayo). Initially I was disappointed for the town being known for growing avocados because I was thinking of freshly sliced avocados on the sandwich and a layer of provolone cheese. It was more guacamole and cheese. The sandwich still tasted great as is and they were generous with the serving. My husband had the tuna and he loved it, especially on the soft bread. It was not saturated with mayo like most delis. It was great to enjoy the sandwich without having excessive trimmings fall off the sandwich onto the parchment paper. The rainbow pasta and the artichoke salads were delicious. Not heavily saturated in olive oil or salty at all. I would definitely purchase these items again. Taste lemonade which was refreshing on a warm sunny day. Not too sugary but still have the tart. The staff was friendly and very hospitable. Great small town feel and love supporting local Mom and Pop businesses. There is a reason why this business has strived in Fallbrook. Bread is good. Meatball meat on sub taste processed. Frozen meat ravioli that costs extra is actually cheese ravioli. Honest mistake I guess. An hour before closing no fresh pasta available. They stated they would make some pasta, which we assumed. The reason we went there was so I didn't need to cook it myself. The fact they mentioned they needed to make it lead us to believe they really didn't want to. Like when you woke up this morning to work did you not understand it may be in your job description to make the food. IDK. Embarrassing with family visiting from out of town. Never again. Since opening in 1980's had the best subs in town. Visiting my house in Cali makes me want to go more the turkey provolone with avocado from the avocado capital of the world. Absolutely terrible sandwiches. I ordered an Italian beef and green pepper sandwich; and that's exactly what I got. Bread, Italian beef, and some cut green peppers. There was nothing else on it, but for some reason the sandwich went down like a soggy mess. It felt like I was eating bread mush. The meat did not seem fresh at all. No idea how, with such a simple sandwich, but it tasted horrendous. The sandwich seemed to just be slapped together with no effort. For a "hot" sandwich, it was very lukewarm. My wife had a pastrami and it was drenched in mustard and not much else. No frills sandwiches but not in a good way. I'm not sure what kind of bread they use but it didn't seem fresh. Maybe their pasta is better? Wait staff was friendly and polite, but when asked to toast some bread slices, they replied that "they don't do that." read more

I heard about this place from a friend and I must admit for a sandwich its amazing. I got a roast beef with cheese and as a side broccoli with linguine. I like the people there there helpful and friendly and if your not sure you can ask them. They have a combination sandwich which has Italians meats in it I tried that too it was amazing as well. There large is big enuff for 2 people there small cut is still a decent size. This place was still busy on the weekend so expect at least a couple minutes of a wait. There tiramisu and limoncello left me speechless my advice buy a bigger piece cause it's worth it if your a sweets person. Dominick's never disappoints. They do one thing (well, technically several types of Italian food) and they do it well. I love their made-to-order turkey sandwiches, and we also love the tiramisu in their cold case. Service is always friendly and prompt. We are new to the area and decided to try this place because of the reviews. What a disappointment. First off we got there about an hour before closing and had to ask if they were still open. We were told they closed in an hour and then seemed to be an imposition that we stayed. My wife and daughters got pasta dishes and I got an Italian Beef Sandwich. The girls said the ravioli tasted like Chef Boyardee, and their analysis was accurate. The wife liked her pasta, but didn't think it would be worth a return visit for. My Italian Beef was an insult to other Italian Beef sandwiches. Typically an Italian Beef is thinly sliced seasoned beef on a hearty Italian roll with sautéed onions and peppers, with giardiniera. Well the roll was fresh but way too soft to hold up to a beef sammy. The beef had zero flavor; although it was very tender and a decent amount. The onions and peppers would not qualify as sautéed. They were just warm and oily. AND there was no giardiniera or any other accouterments. It was by far the plainest sandwich I've ever had. Couple that with the staff flipping chairs and mopping up around us when they were still 20 minutes from close. Don't waste your time or money. The grocery might be ok, but prepared food is a waste. read more

I have been frequenting Dominicks for years, however, My husband and I decided it's not worth going anymore. I can count on something being wrong with our order every single time. I have gotten into the habit of checking before I leave and 9/10 i have to ask them to fix it. The customer service from a majority of the staff is really poor. The girls are cold, no eye contact and most of the time you just feel like you're pestering them when you order. I would really encourage you guys to revamp your system to provide a friendlier staff, consistency in the way things are made and a process that omits how many errors are being made. Maybe in the future we'll return, but for now subway is a better bet. read more

I popped In here today after a long dog walk, starving and in a little bit of a bad mood...long line didn't help my mood either. But the line moved quickly and when I got up to the cashier, she took my order and genuinely asked how my day was going and we chatted as she made my sandwich. They have a nice cool refreshing place to sit inside. At most sandwich shops they don't have the drink selection that Dominick's does, I got a Hemp Energy Drink and an IBC cream soda. They also have other imported goodies from Italy like truffles and lady fingers for Tiramisu. read more

Great ambiance - this is a local deli and the folks preparing your meal are hustling and nice. Prices are fine. I love the vibe of an independent business and the owner is really friendly. The food is solid, which is why I'm a regular. So, if you are searching Yelp and trying to decide where to go, don't hesitate - you will have a nice experience and get good food. Oh, Dominick's, you have FAILED me! I have been eating here for 24 years. A trip to the beach is not complete without a container of tortellini and a turkey and cheese sandwich from Dominick's. A year ago I was diagnosed with celiac and I thought my days were numbered when I realized I'd have to cut you out of my life. However- a quick phone call assured me that you had gluten-free bread. Yay! So I drove over from Temecula (I live in NYC these days but was in town visiting my dad) and gave my order. The girl at the counter assured me they would wash their hands and use clean utensils to avoid cross contamination. She said she would even grab the ingredients from a separate location. She turned away to start making my ham, turkey and cheese sandwich and I don't know what made me ask this because it should have been obvious, but I said, "the deli meat is gluten free, right?" She and another girl said NO. Only the pastrami was gluten-free. WHAT on earth did she think was happening then, when we talked about cross contamination and the gluten-free bread?? I left with nothing. My dreams dashed. Why have GF bread if you don't have GF meats to put on the bread??? Another reviewer mentions ordering gf sandwiches so I imagine one of three things has happened. Either that reviewer has made a mistake, the two girls working that day were wrong about the lunch meat not being gluten-free and it was, or they just didn't want the hassle of making my sandwich and wanted me to leave. Heading into this place on a weekday very close to lunchtime to find that it does have its devoted followers, so I thought to myself this place must be really good. The food portions are great but the quality of food isn't exactly the best, then again my pallets may not be as refined as others. I think the large drink is a value at around $2. I only ate half of the large sandwich and save the other half for lunch the following day. Been looking forward to eating here since I moved into this small town so happy that there would be an authentic Italian deli / store just like in my hometown. One of my favorite things is to watch them put the big hunk of artesian meat into the slicer and slice it up fresh for my sandwich that I know is going to be made with high quality bread baked on the premises a nice sturdy Italian roll with sesame seeds on top along side with an ample supply of fresh lettuce and tomatoes made to order. Or how about a beef and pepper sandwich with freshly sliced beef cooked threw in a marinara sauce. Unfortunately you won't find that here. What you will find are grocery store type breads like the ones inside a long paper bag near the vegetable section. Inside the bread you will get some Costco type pre sliced Deli Meats. Sadly there is no selection of fresh meats no meat slicer no freshly sliced beef beef simmering in marinara. What you will get are sandwiches not unlike a deli sandwich that a supermarket would make. Or like your mom may have made you for lunch at home in the 70s. Not bad! But not something you'd hope to get at a real authentic Italian deli, where you can choose which meat you want through the glass display case and watch as it's sliced for your sandwich, or maybe to take some home. read more
