I grew up in Santa Monica and was used to Bay Cities Deli and the Broadway Deli sandwich shops with their Boars Head deli meats. I hadn't been able to find another sandwich shop like those since I moved to Riverside County 5 years ago. Well, I think I've found their replacement! The Dutch Sandwich Shop was amazing! I ordered the Capital! with London Broil Roast Beef and First Cut Pastrami Brisket on Dutch Crunch and all the fixings including Tomato, Lettuce, Cucumber, Pickles, Black Olives, Bell Pepper, Red Onions, Mustard & mayo, Banana peppers and Jalapeno and I also got it "Hella Saucy!" That is their freshly made, homemade, mouthwatering, full of taste & flavor Garlic/Basil based sauce. This sandwich was delicious! I shared it with a friend and she loved it as well! Good job Dutch Sandwich Shop! I'll be stopping by again soon to try all the other sandwiches on the menu! I was greeted by Abdul, the owner, who immediately made me feel welcome in his small and cozy shop. I could tell he was genuinely excited to tell me about his sandwiches, walk me through his top recommendations, and share the story behind the business. Being from the Bay Area, he missed Dutch Crunch sandwiches and couldn't find them anywhere in Southern California, so he brought them here himself along with the Bay Area vibe to his shop. What really stood out was the quality. They use Boar's Head meats and quality ingredients from the cheeses to the oil. You can taste the difference. I ordered the Hollywood, and honestly, it was so good that I didn't even want to finish it. Not because I was full, but because I wanted to bring the other half home for my wife to try, which took some serious self-control. Finally had a chance to try this place. Wanted to try since it seemed similar to Ike's sandwich. They offer 7 speciality sandwich and I ordered #6 the Hollywood Cajun turkey with the hella sauce. If you don't like garlic and pesto that sauce isn't for you. For me I do and it added a touch to the sandwhich. My boyfriend and I aren't from this area so we wanted to go to a place where we couldn't get anywhere else. Pretty smart to make the drive worth it, right? Well it sucks because we loved it! We got both the Wharf and the Hollywood and both were sooo delicious. The worker (Russell) told us how their dutch bread wouldn't cut the roof of our mouths like others and he was right! The bread was so good and soft but still had that crunch! You should definitely get all sauces on the sandwich- it made it so yummy. The service was amazing by all of the workers (I think there was a Chloe and Carl as well) and my boyfriend even dropped half of his Hollywood (nooo!) but they gave us another with 20% off. :) I wish we could go back!! Finally had the chance to try this spot and I'm so glad I did. It's located next to Mariposa Ice cream and a new nail salon. Quaint little shop with a deli style counter. Inside is clean and there are a few tables inside and out to sit at. They have a beverage fridge with various drinks, they also have a selection of chips. The menu is pretty straight forward. I ordered the City and the Capital, "hella saucy". The crunchy roll is amazing, the top of the bread has a nice sweet flavor. Love it. This place is quite good. All ingredients are fresh. The meat on the Capital is excellent. The staff is polite and builds your sandwich with care and attention to detail. What an awesome little spot! I came here two days ago and had a great experience. Chloe helped me, she was so kind and personable. She made The Capital for me - delicious! Abdul and Russell, were also there talking with me. They were playing a game and greeted me when I came in as well. The place was so welcoming - great music, ambiance is casual and the people working truly love their job! Abdul is the owner and was so funny! He was appreciative I was there and was down the earth with me and his employees. Also, the sandwich was so dang good! I got everything on it except olives. I also had half the sandwich with provolone cheese, and the other half with pepper jack cheese. Every bite was amazing! Nice crunch of the veggies and the sauces! Mmm mmm mmm . But the sauces and ingredients in the sandwiches were equally magical. We ordered the Capital & the Town. I told them to put everything in it like they would make it for themselves. I find that's usually the best way to discover the yummiest foods. Dang! It was so good! I was super blown away by all the flavors popping up. Spicy, garlicky, tangy yet rich. Very delicious! I highly recommend trying one of these babies. My hubby was disappointed in the meat ratio. I agree that it wasn't too generous on the meat but I like it that way. He set the bar high with giving a little history behind why he decided to delve into the sandwich business and he was just so helpful in my selection of the sandwich choices!! It was a Saturday morning and my husband and I just finished walking our dogs at the park. It was around 10:30am and my husband wanted a sandwich. I wasn't sure what would be open at this time but after a quick search on yelp, The Dutch Sandwich Shop came up and it was only like 6 minutes away. After scanning the menu, I was set on ordering the #2 The City. My husband went inside to order while I waited in the car with the dogs. He was indecisive when he went inside but after talking to the owner who said he makes the tuna himself, my ordered #1 The Wharf.
