I love the meat department. The veal items are the best. We get the liver and the all pieces of veal and the service in the meat department is the best. The poppy seed the deserts are delicious. They have a great selection of packaged teas and honey. Their reusable cloth like bags are 25 cents so remember to bring a bag. I got a disappointing item from bakery. Their potato pastry was dried out and the potato was brown. It's usually more cream colored and delicious. This was not edible and I had to discard in garbage. We tried to exchange it immediately upon seeing it and we were told it was perfectly fine!! This would have earned zero stars for this kind of service but the other depts of the store are awesome. read more

Supermarket as a title is somewhat misleading for Domino, which is more of a neighborhood market that specializes in eastern European goods. They have a good selection of pastries and cookies, pickled veggies, solid produce, and a pretty stellar variety of smoked fish. I am not sure if customer service is their strong suit, but that varies for just about everyone. They have a ton of imported products from various countries across eastern Europe and many of the signs for products are both in English and Russian. Much of the staff is also bilingual in both, with a likely command in other Cyrillic languages. (#1) The store is laid out in a way where it's fairly easy to find items and was fairly well maintained, especially after COVID. I personally love that they have a frozen area just dedicated to manti, samsa, and chebureki items. I am also obsessed with their paté options, which is some of the best I've had from any spot in the borough. Their seafood / meat sections have some typical items for the region, which include stuffed meats (usually with liver, mushroom, and/or cheese) and a good selection of fried / smoked / dried fish. They also have a mini buffet (by the pound) of pickled foods and a fairly stellar variety of breads and cakes. I've never purchased the latter for any special occasion, but I like knowing the option is there. Cheeseheads will appreciate their awesome variety of cheeses, some of which are region specific like Greek feta vs Moldovan and Hungarian feta. Everyone is missing out if they don't try the Armenian chanakh, which is outstanding with the aforementioned paté. I will say I don't know if I'd purchase my regular groceries, from eggs to produce here. The markup is a little more significant than nearby stores and I don't sense inventory is higher than others. I really like this store. It has a wide variety of foods that are difficult to find elsewhere. I particularly like the bakery, smoked fish, and butcher departments. While they don't have all the meats I like, what they do have is high quality and they have actual butchers cutting it. While some of the staff, particularly in the meat department are not fluent in English, they are always polite and we manage to understand each other. Over the many years I've been shopping there, they have expanded and upgraded the store and the atmosphere is very nice. read more

This supermarket is right near me and I try to avoid it unless it cannot be helped. They do specialize in Eastern European items. They have bakery, seafood, hot foods, deli, and a standard supermarket aisle (fresh veggies/fruits, flowers, freezer, and canned good). The staff here can be hit and miss. Sometimes, they are very nice (the cashiers) or brusque. Other times, they are just demented. I was waiting in line for the bakery to place an order for some baked goods. The person saw me waiting and a few times just flat out ignored me or even took someone behind me, like I didn't even exist. It's like they don't want my business, which is fine because their pastries are overpriced and stale for what they are. The two times I cave and got something sweet because I was craving it, was disappointing. They charge per a pound but then include the price of the plastic container in it. For two tiny nubs of hazelnut cookies would end up costing more because of the giant plastic container they place it in. The store is well lit but it has a dingy and sour smell to it. Unfortunately, all the experiences I have with this store are negative. There is an unfriendly security guard at the entrance. He rudely demands that you leave your belongings (if you have a bag) at the entrance under his supervision. But he doesn't inspire confidence in me. The hoods in the store work very poorly. That's why the store has not a pleasant smell (smell of something old). There are large pieces of meat lying on the counters of the meat department. I asked the employee if he could cut me a small piece of meat so that I could buy it. But I was refused. They said that you can't do that. And these huge pieces of meat lie there for several days and no one buys them. Also, the chicken thighs that I often bought turned out to be rotten. The quality of the food leaves much to be desired, unfortunately. But the prices are not low. I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 because this is where I can buy some products that I can't find in stores nearby. For example, here I buy wonderful tkemali (Georgian sauce). But all the disadvantages that I see discourage me from returning here again. read more

Have been dropping by this store for 14 years, ever since moving to this Eastern European area. Never been a fan. With years, this establishment has not improved. It has gotten more expensive and the customer service has dropped beyond acceptable. No idea why people are still even coming here, as the prices are ridiculous, the quality subpar, and the workers uncaring and rude. As a Ukrainian, I am embarrassed for this store. The workers treat customers as if this is USSR 30 years ago. Meaning, you get what you get, you can't choose the cuts of the meat/any other product yourself, and you'll pay whatever they tell you for whatever quality of food you get. Except this is a capitalist NYC in 2020. If I don't like the extra fatty & old chicken thigh that you're trying to shove me when I specifically ask for the least fatty bit, then I won't be buying that inferior quality product. When you ask for a weighted food they force you into buying substantially more. I had situations were you tell them to stop adding weight and they would ignore you like they don't hear you. It used to be the most wonderful store in Brooklyn. For this New year, their Olivye with tongues and mushrooms was too fattening. After I tasted a mushroom from it, I got terribly nauseous and sick. The Baku salad, the holodets were so fattening that I could not eat them. And they definitely added sugar to the pashtet (pate), as if it's not enough diabetes in the USA. There are so many things to say! First of, a long while back I purchased fish from that store, so man who was selling it took it with bare hands that were covered in soap. I had to throw the fish in the trash after tasting it. Milk products are overpriced, so are eggs. If you go across the street even at that store they are cheaper. Sweets are decent, but sometimes they are stale. Cold cuts are good. Raw meat is good. As long as you don't buy fish or some of the cakes you will be okay. read more

Serious Health Hazard! Today around 5:30pm I witnessed an old man (probably homeless), at the fish counter open one of the plastic containers of smoked fish, reach into it with his (unwashed) fingers, take a bite of the fish, and then close the container, putting it back on the counter (presumably to be bought by other customers.) He repeated this with yet another container. What did the counterperson do when told what this man was doing? NOTHING. First of all. I have been going her for my go to veggies and cold cuts. Recently went this this past weekend and had a racial profiled against me. Also the cashier whom was throwing these racial slurs at me in front of my own sister and daughter and nearby people. Had the most disgusting actions used and she had to nerve to tell me that me not using the store's bags (plastic) is in stantized when I use my own reusueavke clean bag to take my groceries home. Their own excellent flower store on the outside facing its E 19th St side is not to be missed. I used it to supply my own wedding, Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year & major family events. It's like a grocery store but without aisles of packaged goods. Rather, it's more like a supermarket deli, with huge display cases full of cured meats, fish, sides, baked goods, a butcher, etc. I like ethnic markets and this one is definitely Russian, with lots of things being cured, pickled and preserved. This place isn't Cherry Hill but it gets the job done. It's a much more "Russian" experience with less options. Great place to get your bread, cheese, tea or even dessert. If you only speak English it's definitely entertaining. Better chicken blintzes than Cherry Hill IMHO but terrible macaroons. read more

This supermarket is convenient when visiting kings highway. They have fresh bread. I recommend the regular and fresh sesame bread. They have many Russian products. Having been Russian for as long as I can remember, I've been to a lot of Russian stores. This one is the best. A trip to Brooklyn is not complete unless I come here. The selection of hot and cold food is incredible! The prices are very good too. I would list all the things I love but there's nothing there I haven't liked. Order anything, you can't go wrong. Are some of the ladies mean? Yes, yes they are. But if they were all smiles, it wouldn't be very Russian of them. The meanest one is the cheese lady, but she's so mean it's actually hilarious. Having worked closely with all walks of Eastern European life (mostly female) for the past three years absolutely prepared me for the type of customer service that one encounters at Domino. New to the neighborhood, this Russian market came highly recommended by friends of said nationality. Since I love me a good international food market, I put it on my "must explore" list. My first visit was pure curiosity. I perused their large selection of cold and hot ready made foods, which consist of traditional Russian staples. Their selection of cold salads is kind of amazing. They also have cured meats, smoked fishes of all types, a butcher's counter although the chicken looked kind of sketch, breads, pastries and cheeses. Being Greek, you know I went straight for the cheese section. If you don't mind being greeted with a "What?" (i.e. Shto ) in Russian, their little nook of cheese is an acceptable substitute for my much missed Hellenic cheese counters of Queens. You can ask for a taste of anything, which I didn't know that first time, but have taken advantage of since. Just be prepared for a lot more Shto and serious faces. I kind of love their 59 cent spice/seasoning packets by the checkout. Yes, they are all in Russian sans English translation, but you can figure out what they are by looking at the photos. Each time I go in for my staples of dark bread and cheese, I walk out with a little something extra and unique for me. This last visit - tiny gherkins in an onion/dill pickling liquid. But mind your Russian manners - a little Spasibo and Pazolasta definitely goes a long way. read more

The people who so passionately complain that the staff is rude are probably the customers that like their behind kissed and pretend they're in a 5 star hotel rather than a busy supermarket. Sure they are not always smiling and friendly, but they dont have to be. It gets very busy and some of the customers who come there would drive any normal person insane. If i had a nickel for every time a lady literally snuck in in front of me as i was about to open my mouth to order and burp her order out as if she was next in line, id open my own market and not let those people in. As for the goods, well, the bakery really sucks. Not sure if its the ingredients used (cause the stuff seems like it was prepared with skill), but things are just tasteless. By far the worst part of the store. They do have plenty of other sweets that are good, and even better than in other places, but the bakery basically sucks. Nowhere near the level of cherry hill's bakery. Cold cuts selection and quality is good. They're so busy that its always fresh cause they go through it quickly. Outside flower store has some good deals. The fresh meat is pretty good as well. Cheeses are good, fresh meat section is good. Haven't really tried buying fosh there but seems ok. The already made food is pretty good. There is always a decent variety and, unlike their bakery, some things are tasty. I'm still very upset and trying to keep my emotions far far away from this review but it's so hard. And if I could I would put "-1 Star!" Ok, here we go... Ive been coming to this place for a long time and knew already that they r a little overpriced, but I couldn't even imagine beside that they were actually trained to do things like adding paper liners between slices of super expensive cheese, which doesn't require it, since aged cheese ($11.99 a pound) don't stick together like yogurt-cheese ( $4.99 a pound) does. Or the best, using plastic containers weighting lox that cost $20.99 a pound, instead of using wax-paper to weight it first and then pack later to any container that customer would choose. I came here with my sister in law to buy some smoked fish for her kids. While I was wondering around at desert place, debating between Napoleon and Chocolate mouse, she end up buying lox. This is exactly how things happened. At the smoked fish cold-cuts two ladies were waiting for customers and were happy to help the moment she approached them. When one sales person was asked for a pound of reg lox ( which cost $2 more then pastrami lox) she pick up a container and started to fill it with lox and went to weight it. So my sister in law asked her what was a weight of container so they can manually remove extra weight she didn't even have a chance to open her mouth when another sales person jumped in. She started to explain that extra weight from containers were already build-in into the system and automatically adjusted and it's programmed that way with every item... That was just too ridiculous to listen to. Another words even if you are buying 2 slices of smoked fish that simply being wrapped into one piece of paper it will be absolutely free! since their system automatically subtracting extra weight of a container which might be equal to weight of two slices, correct?! Right!, the owner will be definitely announcing Neptune month where he will be generously donating sea food products calling it Gifts of nature directly from the ocean. Any way, my jaw dropped from this story, so my sister in law asked them to weight a container to know exactly how much $ they should subtract at the end. At the beginning they were hesitant to do so, but then agreed and the second sales person put container on and change price to $18.99 smiling that it would cost below dollar. After she was asked to change price back to correct one $20.99 she lost her smile deep in the ocean and let first sales person to take over. So let's just imagine if 25 people a day and I'm sure it's much more on weekends will be donating $1 per item while shopping at this department and I can just imagine purchasing prepared food that definitely need that containers., the weight of which would never be subtracted. So imagine how many " just below the dollar" of almost every item at this just two departments by the end of each hour, day, week and month??? This is so not right!!!! Im sure that this extra money are not going to feed starving people at shelters or hungry kids at Orphanage. read more

I've been coming here for years since it's really close to my dentist's office. I have to say they have a huge selection and really good prices - I normally get borsch, napoleon cakes, caviar, potato salad, and anything else that looks good to me that day. There is always a line so be prepared. I found that I was polite and patient to my saleslady Inna (who I learned was from Odessa where my dad's from) and she was courteous right back. I think if people go in with an attitude and don't understand that they're trying to meet the high demand there then they'll leave upset. But I like this place, I always like the food, there's always something I want to buy, and my stomach's always happy at the end of the day. read more
