Burned, crunchy, and tiny "Parmesan bites"
    Brenda R.

This has been our go-to on the occasion we find ourselves unwilling to drive somewhere for pickup. Food has been decent, generally, just typical dominos quality. This time and the last, however, we had a bunch of issues ordering pizza online. Last time we kept trying to order only to fall into a loop--mark the order as delivery, add delivery-based coupon and items, go to check out, and suddenly the order is carry out and not available because the coupons are delivery. I ended up having to clear the cache on my browser to be able to place an online order. This time, despite using the card on files many times previously, it kept returning errors, "this could not be processed", and I ended up having to use PayPal. We finally ordered at 4:20, and I watched the pizza tracker hover over "prep" until around 4:55, at which point it jumped to quality check. Since we never got a notification that our pizza was delivered, I can only assume it was sometime after the "your driver is nearby" notification I got at 5:06. Since we got the "on the way", "in your neighborhood", and "nearby" texts all within about a minute of each other, I assumed that like the pizza tracker it was just a meaningless way to make people think there was progress. I finally checked outside around 5:15, meaning our pizza sat outside for nearly ten minutes as I waited for a knock or text to let me know it was actually delivered, rather than just nearby. So it took at least 50 mins for two pizzas and some questionable Parmesan bites. Questionable because about half were barely bigger than my thumbnail, and obviously burnt to the point of being crunchy by being cooked too long, like overcooked pita chips. Pizzas looked good but were lukewarm from sitting in the cold. I'll just drive somewhere else next time.

16 piece parm bites with 2 half sized bites. Should have included an extra to make up for the small size pieces.

Ordered a few things including parm bites. 16 piece order with a couple that were mini sized. Not a huge deal, but come on. If you are going to give me half sized bites throw in an extra one to make up for it.

Service is on point, like I said I've been here three times in probably 5 months and the crazy thing is on both return trips the guy recognized me like this is the epitome of mom & pop business right here. You feel seen and you realize the money your paying for your delicious food is going to real folks and not some corporate overlord nonsense. The vibe of the place is an industrial-esque sports bar the style that was super popular during the hipster face of restauranteering where everyone was going for the stripped down minimalist aesthetic but for this place it works. They have high seats, low seats and a couple TVs playing live sports with no real obstructions. We always come at off peak hours so I'm not sure how packed it would get but this seems like a good place to catch a PPV fight or something IF they don't pack everyone in like sardines. The food, jeez I should have probably made this the start of the review the food is decadent. EVERY dish we've tried has been packed with flavor, healthy portions, and fair prices. I recommend anything on the menu but if you want to get out of your comfort zone get the balkan fries, they're so good you won't regret it! This is the kind of place you want to see in business the people rock, the food is great, and you feel like part of the community patronizing here.

California Health and Safety Code § 113961(b) requires ready-to-eat food to be handled without bare-hand contact, using a barrier such as gloves, tongs, deli tissue, or another appropriate utensil. Last night, I came in and ended up giving my food away because I was so uncomfortable with what I saw. After cleaning the restroom, an employee immediately went over to handle and cut my fruit with her bare hands and then served it to me. That was extremely concerning from a food-safety standpoint. Employees are being paid to prepare and serve food safely, and basic sanitation should be the bare minimum when handling fresh produce and other ready-to-eat foods. I have photos showing employees handling food with their bare hands. I plan to contact the manager and, depending on how this is addressed, the San Diego County health department as well. The food quality and sanitation standards seem to have gone downhill. I hope management takes this seriously and corrects the issue immediately. There's absolutely no reason why any bare hand should be touching customers, fruit or food. This is supposed to be marketed as "fresh food @ and produce, but it loses that quality as soon as employees touch with their bare hands they are not at their house preparing food they're at an establishment. Please call them out if they're handling your food with their bare hands that is illegal

Is there new ownership?…read more I haven't been to this location in several years. No reason other than circumstance. But today I was craving a Cali sub. I went in around 3 p.m. on a Saturday. There wasn't a customer to be found. The place was hot and uncomfortable. Granted, these things do happen so I can't blame the business entirely. I know times are hard. Heaven knows I'm on a budget like everyone else. But when I saw $13.99 for a regular sub (6 inches), I nearly turned around and left. But, again, the craving. So I sprung for a medium (9 inches) and forked over $18.99 plus tax. Even now, as I relax from having eaten, it's annoying to think there's a $20 bill sitting at the bottom of my stomach. I don't know...I didn't feel like I was getting any kind of experience. In the past, Bridgette (the owner, at least years ago) was always so jovial and friendly. While she made your sandwich she would ask about your day and how things were going. The gentleman who helped me was nice enough, but he wasn't entirely forthcoming. And he was wearing sandals which, having worked in the food industry for many years, is a huge no-no. My sandwich was good. It wasn't stellar. I enjoyed it. But it didn't hit the spot. The meat was sliced in four really thick slices; it wasn't "fluffed," the way they used to do. The toppings were fine enough. Again, it was good, but nothing to write home about. I'll give it another couple years before I go back.
