Our server, Shaena, was friendly and attentive with a great sense of humor. We stopped in for lunch after a morning of running errands & a lengthy dentist appointment. We sat ourselves at a high top. The place was relatively busy. There are many tv's for your entertainment and plenty of free parking in the lot. We started with a full order of raw oysters. Atmosphere- This is the building part of a defunct gas station whose pumps have been long-since removed. The inside still had a bit of construction but had a few booths and some stand-up high tables. Everything was clean. Customer Service- The is an order-at-the-counter joint and a friendly young lady with a mask took my order. It was ready in maybe five minutes so no problems with the service. Food- The menu is lots of wings and burgers and dogs along with sides all in various combos. I went with the Texas Bacon Cheeseburger Combo @ $7.50. It came with two sides and I chose fries and dirty rice. I could also choose a can of soda from a couple of coolers. Even though I said my order was for here it was served in a to go bag. Of course, I've seen that before. Everything was piping hot, but I was a little surprised. Check out my picture. The portions of fries and rice were quite small. The burger was surprisingly heavy on a slightly soggy bun. I really didn't taste the small pieces of bacon, but the BBQ sauce and jalapenos got my attention. The burger was so heavy that overall, I was quite stuffed with OK food. Like lots of new joints the jury is still out. I was surprised there were no boneless wings and predict that will change. Here is what happened- The Chain- Based in Tampa, there are around 140 locations with the majority in Florida. They can be either franchised or corporately owned. They tend to use existing spaces so the interiors can vary quite a bit. Over the years, I think I've been to four of them. Arriving- This one is on the northbound side of US Route 27. It's in a plaza fronted by the local MickyD's. Just look for the golden arches. Plenty of easy parking. Pro Tip- If you are a Yelp Check In person you'll frown. The address is screwed up and maps about 5 miles away so no Check In! Ambience- These guys bill themselves as a Family Sports Restaurant and that's about right. Zillions of TVs! You'll be surprised how small it is. The u-shaped bar seats about 15. Booths around the edges and mostly high tops in the middle. There is nothing unique about it. It's clean & neat and otherwise unremarkable. Adult Libations- Full bar with maybe ten taps and lots of bottles. Not a fancy craft beer place. You'll have seen the selection many times. I ordered a pint of Goose Island IPA @ $6.50 but it was 2 for 1 so not only tasty but a great deal. Wi-Fi- Kind of a mess and needs work. There are four or five unsecured obvious listings, but they either had no internet or required registration which I'll never do. Fortunately, Xfinity had a strong local hotspot, so I was good to go. It's nothing special but that doesn't stop legions of folks from visiting. ADULT LIBATIONS- Nope. This is a soft drink only place however they have a BRING YOUR OWN policy which is much appreciated. CUSTOMER SERVICE- This is a family run joint and the service is generally very good. It's tiny so it's usually handled by one waitress. When it gets busy the kitchen may get backed up so you may wait a bit for your food. FOOD- Expect a classic basic Italian menu with an emphasis on pizza. They also have pasta, calzone, salads and some of the best wings around. Much to my dismay, they do not offer Stromboli. They should fix that! This visit I ordered a medium Meat Pie for about $13. Whoa baby this was one fine pizza and perfectly cooked and not soggy. The amount of toppings was off the charts! My cholesterol also went off the charts! This is New York style pizza so expect your crust to be relatively thin. Mine was a medium pie but I saw a large with everything go by me and the room actually got quiet as people stared. It was ginormous and looked amazing. PRO TIP #1- Call before you go as they have reduced hours in the summer. PRO TIP #2- Don't forget the beer or wine. There are quite a few places to get a pie in Avon Park/Sebring and this is easily one of the best.
